Love the doctor here, he’s great. But Nina at the front desk needs to be replaced!!! When you call a vet you want to feel comfortable and reassured not made to feel dumb or talked down too. She’s rude. Do better. Tried to tell me I wasn’t in the system when I literally get birthday emails from them and everything….. then tried to make me feel like my dogs CLEAR emergency wasn’t. REPLACE HER

The woman at the desk prefers to lie to you instead of helping your pet.

I can’t thank the team at Cartersville Animal Hospital. I called 4 vets this morning and they were the only ones willing to fit me in even though I was not a current patient.I had a very sick pup this morning. Nina at the front desk was so kind and Dr. Kevin was great. We will definitely be back.

Kind people and wonderful care at a good price. They helped us get ready for my Daisy's litter.

I brought my dog and cat to CAH for their annual checkups this summer after moving to Cartersville in February. I like Dr. McElwee very much, he has a very relaxed presence and was very patient with my dog, Mo, who has severe separation anxiety and is very protective. He was happy to discuss options for her anxiety and further care.
I was NOT impressed with the front desk staff. They initially indicated they had not received my animals' shot records, although I received an email confirming receipt. The young man at the front desk behaved very condescendingly, explaining as if to a child that a three year rabies shot is not valid in Bartow, the maximum is two years. The condescension continued when I went to check out and asked if they carried Nexguard. The same young man stated with a scoff they only carry Sentinel. Nina then told me I could order it online at their preferred pharmacy.
I compared the prices on their preferred pharmacy and found that it was more cost effective to order it from Petsmart. It took almost two weeks for me to be informed, and not by the vet's office, that they do not approve prescriptions over the phone or by fax. Petsmart advised me that my own vet won't do this when I called to check on my order. I called the office, spoke to Nina, who said I would need to come into the office to get a written script and then mail it to Petsmart.
After working in the veterinary field for five years, and perhaps being spoiled by my previous vet, I am shocked by the front desk staff's behavior and such an archaic procedure. I am not accustomed to being spoken to as if I should already know what goes on at this office. It was my first visit, and I'm new to the area. This was not a good first impression and it is unlikely I will return.

Just moved here and at first thought everything was great my dog (Great Pyrenees)seemed to like the vet got her shots and asked if they boarded so we set up for her to board dropped her off on Friday happy and normal . I picked her up Monday she was shaking dazed and confused and completely not acting like her self , they said she was still wet from her bath , Tuesday she was still lethargic continued to be confused and having issues with shakes and her legs buckling we called them up they said they had no appts and nothing happened . Today Wednesday she had full blown seizures I called this vet up again to be told rudely by (Nina I believe )they have no appts and to google an emergency vet she then hung up on me . I finally got her to an emergency vet in Woodstock townelake vet who is doing everything they can to save her thousands of dollars later . Something happened to my dog at this vet and the staff could care less I’ll never be back .im enclosing pictures of her the day before we dropped her off so happy and engaging and pictures of her after we picked her up and at the new emergency vet fighting for her life…
Update she passed away we are devastated

I called around to many vets to find one I thought would be a great fit for us. I decided on this one. At first it was great, wait time was minimal, vet was friendly. I have a large breed dog, so at 9 months she was over 100 pounds. My dog was very nervous this day upon walking through the door. They rushed us onto the scale and one of the techs came behind my dog and started trying to lift and push her back end. She scared my dog. We then went in a room and This vet decided she had to be on the exam table to be seen...which to me poses more danger to my dog then examining her where she was? He grabbed her by her COLLAR and tried to PULL her to the exam table, and at that point she growled and chaos ensued. The vet said she needed to be muzzled, which was fine but they wrestled her to muzzle her snd my boyfriend and myself had to try to hold her. She was petrified. The vet told me she would need medication to return, and I left in tears due to the way I was spoken to by NINA.
Fast forward: went to a new vet, unmedicated. My dog did amazing from the first second she walked in. Night snd day difference from her behavior at cartersville animal hospital.
This vet is NOT comfortable with large dogs and it was very clear.
Not to mention- they refused to approve her heartworm medicine through chewy while we looked for another vet. That shows a lot of their character if you ask me.

After receiving a very high estimate for a dental cleaning from my vet in Kennesaw I started looking for another vet to preform the procedure. The staff at CAH were so helpful. They got my dog scheduled and seen within a week, and Dr. McElwee completed the procedure at a fraction of what my Kennesaw vet quoted me. We will definitely be using CAH to care for our dogs.

Front desk staff is SO RUDE and always unfriendly. When my dog was dying I called to see if they could put him down that morning (he was a senior about to pass and in major pain and needed to be put down asap) they didn't even say sorry just said we don't have time. Left me with zero choice but to go to Bartow Animal and they took him right in and helped me. I recommend Bartow and never going to Cartersville Animal.

Nina is an extremely unkind and rude individual. The many correspondence I had with her over the treatment of my dog was very disappointing and upsetting. I felt no compassion. I did not return because of her. (Yes, this is the correct vet)
