This place use to be the place to work out, socialize, and learn. This new owner is beyond hubris. The place is dark, the pool is never open, and Silver Sneakers we're expected to climb stairs and workout without air conditioning... If you are a Cross Fitter- it may be a place for you, but the owner is rarely there- in fact there's rarely anyone there... it breaks my heart that a place I use to call home has gone down hill like this-- I truly miss Ceila and Joel, and even Dean... Those owners treated a member like they matter.

I went to Total Fitness for 5 years and now I am leaving due to the new management's inability to run the place properly and keep it clean, a little dirt here and there never hurt but I don't wanna be working out with trash and cockroaches.

When I joined 8 years ago the gym was filled with members all the time. I love to work out and was able to meet some amazing people in the mean time. Since the new owner took over, almost everyone has left the gym. My classes with 15 -20 people now are 6 at best. The gym is filthy, the floor in the pilates-yoga room is so dirty our feet are black when we leave. The room is 90 degrees in the summer and 62 degrees in the winter with no heating available and the air won't be allowed to get turned on till the class starts. The pool is dirty, has been closed by the health department and is now not heated at all. There is no staff on hand ever so any issues or emergency is ignored. Nobody answers the phone ever or returns messages. Totally unprofessional and so disappointing for all of use who used to love the gym and the people. Shame on the owner for turning a beloved gym that people loved that helped to provide a healthy life style and friendships into a empty building full of neglect.

I love this place. I did crossfit for 5 years in my mid 20's and I tore and injured almost every limb in my body. So I left and thought I would never do crossfit again. I tried typical gyms and bootcamps but they weren't cutting it, and I lost all hope. A year later I thought I would give it one more try. I looked for gyms in my area and Total Fitness/Crossfit Spongers popped up. I am sooo happy I looked again. Allie the PM coach is amazing, she is so knowledgeable, cool and fun. She is there constantly with us paying attention, making sure we have the proper form, and cheering and encouraging us. She's the best at helping scale movements and to modify or shift anything you cannot do. John, the owner is also amazing. I have arthritis on my knees and lower back problems, so he suggested I start with one day a week to see how each movement affects my body. That tells you that he cares about YOU and not about getting another unlimited membership. Both John and Allie showed me that you can do Crossfit responsibly, without sacrificing form. I definitely recommend this Crossfit.

I've been a member for awhile and while I'd never say this was a fantastic gym (has a definite old run down ambiance) it has been adequate for doing my own workouts and is convenient with acceptable pricing and so meets my needs. Recently the gym stopped putting paper towels in the dispensers they have around the gym (adjacent to disinfectant spray bottles) and hung signs stating something to the effect of "we're going green, bring your own towels to wipe down equipment". This is clearly a ploy to save money. Do they expect people to bring two towels, one to wipe their faces etc with and another to wipe down equipment? I spoke with a young man, who may be the owner, about this. I said to him "how many people in here right now are carrying towels with them?" The answer was zero, aside from myself. The effect of their new policy is that equipment **will not be wiped down**. The owner/employee responded by saying "I'll make sure we're enforcing the policy" which was a polite way of telling me to go stuff myself. If he is going to enforce the policy why are there people currently in the gym using equipment WITHOUT towels? If the gym management is going to be effective at enforcing their policies why is it that the free weight room always has weights that people haven't re-racked? This would be like saying they have a policy that everyone has to wear a funny hat and then looking around and seeing no one wearing a hat while they tell you "we're going to ensure people follow the policy". The level of absurdity is at cranked up to 11 but they're hiding behind a "green" policy which I suppose they think creates adequate cover. A more reasonable policy would be for management to try to encourage/enforce people bringing towels to wipe themselves down (not the equipment) which would also reduce the amount of paper towels being used (people wipe their face with their towel, instead of using a paper towel). Instead the gym management or owner skipped right to this obviously bad policy which will of course result in nasty equipment that people don't wipe down because there are no paper towels provided to do it with. If management doesn't change this incredibly shortsighted policy I'm going to cancel my membership and find somewhere else to go.

I was a member for 5 years, the new owner came in a decided not to heat the pool. The club does not have the same friendly feel, I left the club!
