If you own plants, enjoy gardening or a good love story the Sunken Gardens is a trip for you! ( Check Groupon for a 2 for 1 discount) I went for the love story of a Mr. Turner plumber/gardener/realtor/ who wanted some land to garden and plant oranges for the love of his life ?.
Now this is how you pursue a woman!
The even gift shop got me on a cute hat & mug for the kids! ( I'm usually a "B"line out the store kinda girly).
I would like to see more Sunken Gardens merch you can add on to things like stickers, clothing pins etc.

This is my go-to place to relax and enjoy nature. It's an oasis in the middle of the city.

Such an awesome place, beautiful plant and animal life. My girlfriend and I spent almost 3 hours here and could have probably stayed much longer. The staff treats the wildlife like family, even taking the exotic birds for walks around the park at times.
Got well over 100 pictures and they don't do it any justice. Very glad we found this place and would highly recommend to anyone!

Sunken Gardens is so cool. Some of the trees date back to the early 1900s. There is a history center which shows the rich history of the gardens and there are swans and other exotic birds. This is a must see if you are ever in St. Pete. It's one of the few remnants of "old Florida".

Such a beautiful and scenic place. So much greenery and natural beauty. Definitely a must see if you're visiting the area!! Very tropical and gives rainforest vibes. I would recommend about 1-2 hours, especially if you're into photography. It even has tropical birds such as flamingos, macaws, etc. Please support places like this!! Gorgeous place for a wedding or special event. Has a cute gift shop and is connected to the Children's Museum.

Visitors BE AWARE: there are millions of mosquitoes. No anywhere, no anyone warned us on the site. We went there around 10am and had to back out after 10-15 minutes. I felt something wrong on my legs first then I thought maybe my legs touched some plants. Soon, one of my kids cried to go home, I couldn’t figure out why. We drove an hour to be here, with happy mood, and everything was ruined after we entered the garden 10-15 minutes. We went to Hillsborough River state park, and different gardens of similar, we NEVER got bitten by mosquitoes. The millions of mosquitoes in Sunken Garden WILL EAT YOU UP. The garden itself should be nice (couldn’t tell in whole as we had to back out 10 more minutes after entry from tons of mosquitoes), but they don’t take care of mosquitoes, they use visitors to feed their mosquitoes. Mosquitoes can carry deadly diseases to human. I called them, they said no refunds even all fours of us were bitten badly, one child was very sick!

We happened to have visited on a rainy day. If there is any lightning at all they close the garden. They post a sign outside saying it’s closed and unfortunately they don’t know when they will open. We decided to wait it out and we finally got in. They have a beautiful verity of plants and a few birds. It’s a winding sidewalk that guides you through the garden.

I really enjoyed my time here and I found the wildlife to be really amazing. It’s like being in a secret hideaway filled with lush, healthy plants! The walk is very nice.
The only thing that bothered me was the conditions that the flamingos live in. Their space to play and live is extremely tiny. It’s basically smaller than a home backyard. There are about 20 flamingos living in this tiny square of the garden. They also wear these metal bands around their legs, along with numbers. The area also smelled super pungent. While the flamingos were fun to watch, the conditions in which they live really upset me.

It's a small but very beautiful garden. Lots of variety of tropical trees/plants and flowers. There are many mini water falls and ponds which enhance the beauty of this place. It's well maintained. You can get your own food as well. There are nice sitting places in the garden where you can enjoy your snacks. There are a lot of butterflies here. There are flamingos kukaburra and macaw birds along with some tortoises here. Overall an amazing place to have a great time with your loved ones.
Toilets: There is a restroom available near the ticket counter.
Dog-friendliness: It's dog friendly
