This is one of the nicest shops in Palm Beach. They have a wonderful and unique collection of beautiful items from all over the world. The art work is exceptional, the furniture and home accessories are to die for and the shell and coral collection is truly amazing. The staff is attentive, friendly and knowledgeable and if you're lucky you will meet the most adorable and soon to be famous pup named Arthur. Love this shop so much!!

Holly Henemader is an unethical and unprofessional businesswoman; she cannot be trusted, and trust is essential when buying antiques because most purchasers rely on trust over expertise: they trust that the vendor is selling authentic pieces, and not reproductions. Furthermore, if you are a design professional like I am, we trust that vendors will follow industry standards that allow us to do our work, Ms. Henemader does not. Here' what she did to me: I asked for an invoice on a pair of lamps on a Monday, and asked if I could take them "on approval," a standard industry practice that basically means I can return them if, when they arrive and the client and I see them for the first time (because we are buying them without seeing them in person). Ms. Henemader agreed to the approval, and I asked for an invoice. Knowing that I'd secured the lamps, I sourced an entire bedroom around them, including furniture, textiles, and accessories. By Tuesday night, I had the invoice from Ms. Henemader, and created and sent my invoice to my client for her approval. I wrote Ms. Henemader Tuesday night to tell her that I expected immediate approval, and asked how she'd like to be paid. On Wednesday morning I had my client's approval, and called Ms. Henemader to give her my credit card information. She had sold the lamps that morning to a longstanding client, after invoicing them to me. When I told her that two days' worth of work had gone into sourcing based on our knowledge that we had the lamps, and that we would demand that she honor her original agreement to sell the lamps to us, she refused. Her claim that she needed to sell the lamps to the other party because we had required that they be sent "on approval" and therefore weren't paying for them immediately is both unfounded and specious: unfounded because we didn't "require" the approval, we merely asked for it, and she agreed. Importantly, she didn't call or write us to tell us that she'd had another offer on the lamps, and that we would need to match it in order to secure them; she sold them without notifying us. This action is at the heart of her unprofessional, callous, and unethical behavior. I suspect she sold them to the other party because she knows her, and preferred to burnish her reputation with an established client, rather than sell them to an unknown out-of-state design firm. As it stands, the only alternative we have is to reselect lamps and resource the room (it's worth noting that these lamps were made of vintage copper and silver ceremonial Indian trumpets, a rarity that cannot be found elsewhere). This is a time-consuming endeavor for us, taking many hours, for which we cannot bill our client. It also makes our firm look stupid when we bill our client for something in the morning, tell her that she's purchased something, and then have to tell her, four hours later, that we don't have the item we promised her. I will never buy anything from Ms. Henemader, and will recommend that 1stdibs drop her as one of their dealers because of her unethical conduct. Whether you're a retail client or a design professional, local or out-of-state, you should not buy from her either. It is essential that an antiques dealer is trustworthy, and adheres to generally-accepted business and industry standards.
