I was visiting from Bend, Oregon. My hair color was in desperate need of repair. Based on all the fabulous reviews, I decided to try Sam Dino. Although he was remodeling Johari salon, he generously invited me to his private hair studio out of his home. I was blown away by this little tropical sanctuary. Not only did he make my hair prettier than it has ever looked, it was a true Miami experience, off the beaten path, only privy to locals. Sammy is the true Renaissance of hair.

Either at his salon in Coconut Grove or the cool studio he has in the backyard of his house in dadeland which has a lovely view of tropical plants, koi ponds, and pool. Sammy is the best. He works hard to get you in when needed and does a great job at making your hair look good and stay healthy. I have been going to him for years now and I get so many compliments on my hair color.

This is my second time going to Sam, and I dont know why I took such a long hiatus away from him. Well actually I do, I was trying to be cheap (like Supercuts cheap) and totally destroyed my hair (both color and cut), but I promise I've learned my lesson! Sam is amazing and fixed my wonky haircut and I, for the first time in a long time, love my hair. Also to note that for Covid and other reasons he saw me at his home studio which is super cute and actually even more convenient for me! Thank you again Sam! I'll be back for a color appointment soon!

Walking into Johari in Coconut Grove is taking a step back in time when The Grove was "The Grove". Loaded with tropical charm, orchids and palms, gives you a relaxed salon experience. Growing up nearby, i almost took it for granted. Sammy started doing my hair at age 17... I am now 53. After moving away, I could never find a salon that could compete with this hometown gem. After my last DIY color nightmare, I called Sammy to make an appointment so he could do his magic. He found a way to get me in fast, hearing the desperation in my voice. And let me tell you, my hair was in bad shape. I showed him pics off Pinterest of what I had in mind, and away he went. Two hours later, I had red carpet hair. Sammy is a color genius. He made some adjustments with my cut, and it made all the difference. The feeling a woman gets when she has her done right is priceless. Johari has stood the test of time, gives you the TLC you need for a more than fair price! Thank you Sam! You're the best! I'll make the trip from Palm Beach or Pennsylvania to have you do my hair!

I got my first haircut at Johari by Sam this week and love it!!! I was the only customer there, besides Sam and his assistant, everything was clean and I felt very safe and comfortable getting my hair done. Sam is very personable and knew exactly what to do to give my quarantine hair new life. I am new to Miami and will definitely be using him as my hair stylist!

Sammie is great... it's hard for a man to find someone who really takes care of his hair. At most places, a guy goes in and its... chop-chop. Not at Johari. Sammie takes the time, explains what he is doing and the results are amazing. I get compliments on my hair all the time... and all I can say is Sammie at Johari.

I went to see Sammy for the first time today and was so impressed by his attention to detail. He made decisions about my cut by considering what would look best with my face shape and glasses (which I often wear). I have had trouble in the past with stylists cutting my hair properly because it is so thick, but he knew exactly what to do. If you want an experienced and confident stylist, come to Johari!

While in the area for a family wedding, my daughter-in-law had made nail appointments for us at Johari. When we walked in the salon, Sam took a look at me and exclaimed something to the effect that I was a hair emergency (train wreck) that needed his immediate attention. Not quite sure why I didn't just walk out the door in a huff, but, instead, I sat in the chair he cleared for me, trusted him, and entrusted him with my hair. Long story short, different, new hair color, different, new cut. And, I love it! Of course, Sam said that I would. The new do got rave reviews at my nephew's wedding ( later that day), and even more great reviews from friends and family. I brought the new formula to a salon here at home, gave Sam's suggestions to the new colorist/ stylist (here at home) were taken and followed. After nearly 40 years, no bangs! I cannot say enough great stuff about Sam and his staff. He is a great stylist, with vision and flair, albeit quite the unorthodox approach with a stranger / new customer who walked into his salon! He told someone that I would be back. He was probably right... if/when I get back to south Florida. I highly recommend him! He is truly the best!

I went there because of the excellent reviews. Well, maybe they do a great job in other services, but not nails! The room for nails looks dirty and messy. Leila (if I remember the name correctly) is a very sweet lady but clumsy and not doing good job. She was very rough with my nails and I even couldn’t tell her because she doesn’t understand any English. Also, when I called them to make appointment they said it would be $30. She tried to charge me $35, and again, it was impossible to explain that I had different number over the phone.

Sammy is truthfully. He is straight to the point as a master colorist, he knows his colors and what works for your skin. Not every one looks good with the color they pick. However the color we pick is what makes us feel beautiful and he will tell you the color combinations your skin tone will compliment. I am glad I let him do “his thing” my color looks amazing and he styled my hair perfectly. I have curly hair. I never get my hair to curl the way he did. He taught me techniques and how to keep beautiful curls. He is a keeper.... thank you Sammy! It was a pleasure meeting you today.

Sam is a true artist. He'll have a vision for your hair. He knows his business so just put your head in his hands and let him do his thing. He also did my wife's highlights and it is the best look she's ever had. After Sam's work her hair was a true reflection of the woman she is; smart, sophisticated and ravishing. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.

I love this place! I walked in without any notice and Sam was so accommodating and kind. I took my hair down from a bun to show him the length and he immediately knew what I needed done and executed it perfectly. With his extensive experience and skill, he was able to quickly dye, cut, and blow-dry my hair in between guests to fit me in to his schedule. I am very grateful and will be returning.

I had my hair dyed by someone who was not a professional, I wanted a red/burgundy color and it turned out pink with a bunch of shades of yellow, orange and darker pink. I went to Sammy and he worked his magic, he gave me exactly the color that I initially wanted and made my hair look amazing! Thank you Sammy!!
