I recently left a review expressing my dissatisfaction with Aksala Wealth's financial advice and overall experience. While I tried to keep my initial review brief, I received a letter from their lawyer which I found threatening. Therefore, I would like to provide a more detailed account of my experience.Following my divorce, I received a lump sum of cash and decided to seek the advice of a fiduciary advisor. I went with Aksala Wealth and invested my money and after doing further research on my own, I realized that the advice I received from Aksala Wealth was not in my best interest.For example, I was advised to invest my lump sum when the market was experiencing a high, which was not a smart decision. Furthermore, I was advised to invest in individual stocks, which was not the best advice for me given the initial dollar amount I was investing.Overall, I felt that the financial advice I received from Aksala Wealth was not tailored to my specific needs and goals. As a fiduciary advisor, I expected them to act in my best interest and provide me with the most appropriate advice. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and I felt that my experience with Aksala Wealth was not satisfactory.

In 2019, I was looking for a new financial advisor and firm in the Sarasota area to manage our retirement portfolio after my wife and I moved from New Jersey. I was unhappy with my old NJ broker and wanted a local resource that I could be face to face with when needed. It was important this time around that my broker be a fiduciary who would put in my financial interests before their own. Being new to Southwest FL, I turned to the internet and found SmartAsset and SmartAdvisor which are great resources for connecting consumers to financial advisors.Prior to this, I had attended one of those free dinners given at a local restaurant that comes with the hosting financial firm's presentation. I found that they were really trying to sell annuities, something that was not right for me but would result in commissions for them. These were not the kind of advisors that I was looking for so I filled out the online SmartAdvisor questionnaire and was given three local firms that matched up with my criteria. I carefully interviewed these candidates and one stood head and shoulders above the others. When I contacted Aksala Wealth Advisors and spoke with Miguel Ortigao, he thoroughly addressed all of my needs and concerns but never pressured me with a heavy sell like other candidates. He was polite, friendly, very knowledgeable about retirement planning and tax efficiency and showed a genuine interest in helping my wife and I launch our retirement life here in Florida. I was given the space and time to think over our conversations, come to my own conclusions and do a reference check with a current client in similar circumstances to ours. This gentleman was extremely happy with Aksala and shared his experience with Miguel and gave the firm an enthusiastic two thumbs up!Handling retirement portfolios is Aksala's speciality and they really excel at it, I am convinced that our portfolio is in the right hands. The financial professionals at Aksala have gone above and beyond for my wife and I since we became clients and now they feel like good friends.
