The museum staff were very helpful, the self guided tour starts with an interesting 8 minute video that briefs you on the history of the city.
You then walk through 2 floors of exhibits, some more interesting then others.
They have guided tours but I came 10 minutes late for that, I would recommend trying to time your visit for those, as it felt a little lonely exploring on my own.
The highlight for me was the 3rd floor where local artists display and sell their creations, I met one artist who gave me a impromptu guided tour of the different art rooms and I left feeling inspired.

I was there for an event and what a great venue for it.
People was so nice and welcoming!
The view and vibe was wonderful.
They have parking around and you can pay using the app.

Looked really interesting as I was walking by so I pooped in for a visit. Staff were friendly and the exhibit was really fascinating full of information about the history of the area and it's people. The artwork on display from local people was great as well.
Downstairs is fully accessible but I never saw a lift to get to the second floor.
There are restrooms on the 1st and second floor although when I visited the ground floor restrooms were out of order.

For the New River Inn: They took half the house and gutted it for their own financial gain; all rooms on the first floor were empty for venue renting or left as exhibits for art irrelevant to the structure. It is unfair to the people who pay the $10 admission. Good thing I didn't, and I still got yelled at by an antique inn apparition for looking at the sad empty rooms on the first floor.

It is curious for us Europeans to visit a place whose history dates back to just over 100 years ago. The city of Fort Lauderdale was in fact built in 1911, although its name dates back to 1838. This historic place is very well looked after and around there is a beautiful park and above all a beautiful riverwalk.

Preserved old buildings from the wilder days of Florida. The main building of the complex is a former hotel 6 historic museum. This is not the most exciting museum but the grounds and river walk can help make it worth the trip.

I enjoy history and historical spots ( especially the photos ! Old swing bridge not far away , love old Florida architecture, they need more historical sights . This was nice if your in the area . and I recommend Cole Henrik park east las Olas Blvd. if your in that area too for a little bit of history free beautiful park . Has some small little monuments for literature.or “Fort”“Lauderdale where the indigenous people lived sadly where living there a prime location to live , I can imagine how beautiful it was before military ( they must have been brave out of there element too . . South side of las Olas Blvd . On 13/14th street 7-11 go south until you see the intercostal. You will see the little park. Spent plenty of time there when I lived Victora Park . Not to get off topic of the history Fort Lauderdale location. There is art on the 3rd floor too .

Nice historical site that includes a local history museum and several moved, preserved, historic buildings. We took a guided tour with a knowledgeable docent; it was inexpensive and worthwhile. The museum has a free parking lot, but it's small. Metered parking is beside the museum. The site is adjacent to the lovely Riverwalk, which I also recommend seeing.

Very eclectic, hotel, home, schoolhouse, clothing, toys, music, painting, jewelry, boats, black history. All volunteers where enthusiastic! Parking is included in the admission in a small lot by the railroad tracks not easily located.
