The repairman came to my place and I told him the steps that I took to try to repair my refrigerator myself. I told him that I repaired it once by watching YouTube videos of similar issues. He looked at the refrigerator and said he didn't know what was wrong with it, but something was wrong. Genius. Then I told him my dishwasher had been leaking and he removed some rubber seals, put the same seals back on, and said, "You probably need a new one". So the leak was much worse after he left. The dishwasher was working when he came, but I couldn't use it after he left because he did something to the seals that made it worse and then I didn't just have a little leak, but a flood. So he told me that Basil Appliance would call me to talk to me about buying a new dishwasher. They didn't call so I went to Lowe's and spent over $560. on a new one. The repairman smelled like dog and it took almost 24 hours for the smell to dissipate from my condo. I didn't complain. I paid the $168. service call and sent him on his merry way, but I won't use this company again, and I won't recommend them. I will say that the lady I spoke to on the phone when I made the appointment was very nice. Oh and I repaired my refrigerator myself, again. :(

Having a couple of interactions with the owner and others at Basil Appliance, I am quite impressed with their customer service. Since COVID, it seems customer service is a thing of the past. Not so at Basil, they went over and beyond with helping me find the right microwave and I value the service as much or more than the product itself. I highly recommend them!

I only write a review if I feel a company is either a danger to society, or exemplary. Basil's Appliance and their installation team at Yoder's are examples of exemplary. They came highly recommended and we now see why, plus, we were excited to use local companies instead of faceless big box guys.
However, since we were not onsite and we live on an island with a ferry making for expensive and time consuming deliveries, our project became plagued with delays, issues and frustrations to the point where I nearly lost my mind and went off horribly with my big mouth on everyone over there and anyone unfortunate enough to be near me. Definitely not one of my finer moments. This was when any company in their right mind should have told me to pound sand(or worse), but Basil's didn't do that. Instead, they behaved with the utmost professionalism and courtesy, and completed our project to our satisfaction.
Because of this, Basil's has restored my faith in mankind, almost anyway. Customer service is easy to provide in the best of circumstances when things go smoothly and perfectly. But it's TRUE customer service when a company keeps their word and delivers on their promises to the end in trying circumstances, and particularly when a mean old witch is in their face being witchy. To the team at Basil's, particularly to the most patient and kind souls on earth named Tony, Jeff, Justin, and Jimbo...we send you all our respect and love.
Basil's is the best, and we'd rate them 10 stars if we could.

Do not buy from these people. They sold my old mother in law a defective refrigerator less than six months ago and won't replace it or fix it. It is a lemon. It actually is unfixable. She was forced to buy another refrigerator from a competitor. Run from these people.

Great customer service at the Englewood location, we purchased a new Speed Queen washer TR7 and dryer DR7 set. Couldn’t be more pleased with my new appliances, finally a washer and dryer that works well and uses the proper amount of water on auto fill. Plus I still have the option to choose the load size if I want. Removal of old appliances along with delivery and setup was great too, thanks!

Basil Appliance is amazing! I would encourage everyone to visit their store in either NorthPort or Englewood and to buy from their smaller appliance store rather than a big box store. You will get personal service and guidance, knowledgeable answers, great customer service and excellent follow-through to ensure your satisfaction. We had a problem with an appliance we purchased - no fault of Basil - that could not be fixed because a part was out of stock and would not be in for several months. We personally spoke and dealt with Melissa and Tony at Basil and they relentlessly followed our case, promised a quicker resolution than waiting for months, assured us, kept in constant contact with us and worked magic to get our appliance replaced. They are professional and caring and go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. We cannot thank them enough! The Landers Family

Buyer Beware!!!! I am 100% for supporting local businesses, but do not let that local business be Basil Appliance Sales and Service in Englewood. My wife’s aunt recently purchased a fridge from them and it has been defective from the moment we got it. The compressor runs 24/7 and it fails to maintain a safe cooling temperature. When contacted they informed us to make a warranty repair. Flamingo Appliance Service, Inc. determined the fridge was faulty and needed to order a new compressor, evaporator and condenser for a fridge that is less than a week old. Contacted Basil’s again and they refused to take a return on the defective appliance. You would think a local merchant would make right and stand behind the products they sell. This is the type of treatment you’d expect out of big corporate, not a business that’s supposed to be your neighbor.

Had an issue with my ice maker not working. Called Basil Appliance. They walked me through what I could try which would save me a service call charge.Yay !! it worked. They’re the best. I bought my refrigerator from Basil and they are the only ones I call for service, including my washing machine. I highly recommend them.

Was told they had appliances I could look at. Okay, we get kids out of the car and.....bait and switch. Lady tells me they dont have a showroom and starts showing me on appliances on the computer. I could have done that at home. Prices were very high and wasn't a huge fan of the attitude I received, either. Won't be returning or recommending.07/18 Edit: changed from 2 to 3 stars. I received a response from the owner. Seems like there may have been a misunderstanding when I first arrived and asked about looking at appliances. Still was not a fan of the ladys attitude that was "helping" us. However, we may check out the north port location as the owner said they have appliances to look at there. Will see how it goes and update accordingly.

Have recomended this place for years. I worked at a local hardware store for 25 years. I have been without a washer for 3 months now between the hurricane and waiting for parts. I was told to replace 2 parts that would fix the problem, so $300 later same problem. This machine is walking across the floor in 1st and 2nd spin. Technician said I will talk to owner. I called days later and was told that its a process of elimination they have to start somewhere. Okay, no one said it was going to be a quessing game with my money. Now it's going to be another $300 for shocks after I played him a video after the first repair. I called again and they offered a Hotpoint for the same price everyone does with $30 off delivery. So I did by a new washer not from them, no one today should play games with someone else's money like that. If I had know they didn't know what was wrong I would have looked to anothet company.
