First time using Osteen’s and they communicated through the whole process and talked me through what cuts I wanted and texted me which made my life easier as picking up the phone and trying to find something to write on is always a pain. They even give you a sheet that you can write down your meet cuts and spells it out for you(which is very helpful if you have never done this before). This is my first time buying a cow and taking it to a butcher and I will definitely be using Osteen’s again!

THIS COMPANY WILL RUIN YOUR MEAT!!!! These greedy people take every fair animal they can get their hands on but they can't handle the volume. The good ol' boy network keeps them going because they surely can't properly hang and age a steer without it turning rancid. MONEY AND MEAT WASTED!

Had a steer from Pasco fair picked up the evening of the fair sale. Stayed on their 'feed" lot for weeks. Finally got a slaughter date. We specifically discussed a 14-21 day hanging time. I called almost every day to get a cut-up date. They did not return calls. Finally got a call. I was concerned about spoilage for hanging too long. Carcass hung for 35 days in the cooler. We went and picked it up ourselves once cut-up and the beef has a stinky sock smell.I am very disgusted as the steer graded top of choice almost prime. Came back as almost dog food. Will not recommend nor use again.

If I could possibly give no stars I would. Purchased a hog and steer at fair. Steer weighed 1147 lbs at fair and they had him until they delivered our meat on 6/18/21. We only got 250 lbs of beef. 120 lbs was ground beef. The hog is so tough we can't even eat it. Don't believe it was our hog to begin with. Doesn't add up. They had them for months before they slaughtered them and claimed they fed them. When called of course it took days to get back with then had all these % as to why. We have slaughtered many steers and never received such little meat. Guaranteed they kept some. WILL NEVER USE AGAIN! Got in contact with another customer and six other families Steve did the same thing too. This place is ripping people off and keeping half the meat. BUYERS BEWARE! THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES! That's right folks this is the (entire) steer and hog! Not even possible!

I've been involved with the beef industry for most of my adult life and have dealt with various processing facilities over the years. Osteen's is simply some of the best in the business. Every animal we have ever taken in there has come back in a timely manner and cut exactly to order. You won't find a nicer more helpful group of people anywhere. While the staff at this company is more than happy to help you through the butchering process, it pays to be an educated consumer. There are plenty of resources out there that explain things like USDA inspected versus custom cut (Osteens is custom cut), meat yields during the butchering process (don't drop off a 1,000 lb steer and expect to get 1,000 lb of meat back), and the various types of cuts of meat and where they come from (if you specify that you want Porter houses and t- bones you're not going to get fillets and New York strips)Educating yourself prior to having an animal processed will not only allow you to be more knowledgeable in the types of cuts that you will be getting and therefore enhance the enjoyment of your product but it will also prevent embarrassment when you file a complaint over something you have no understanding of.
