Touching memorial dedicated to those who have been disabled through service to their country. The site contains plenty of seating, a water reflecting pool, statements regarding wounded soldiers from eminent leaders throughout history, and a series of glass panels containing stories and information about disabled heroes. Nice place to sit and relax and contemplate the cost of liberty.

A beautiful memorial space in the shape of a triangle. It is a pity that at the time of my visit the central area was not filled with water.

Very nice Memorial dedicated to those service members who have born the scars of serving on active duty. The gentle reflecting pool cascading over the edge is calming and soothes the ambience of this memorial tucked in between two very busy streets. More general parking, closer to the memorial, would increase the visitors at this park.

This memorial is fairly close to the capital. Each unique glass etched photo" is identical from both sides of the glass, and all was made entirely by disabled vets. The infinity pool at the center of the memorial adds solemnity to this well needed and deserved memorial.

Somber reminder of those who served who deserve to be remembered for they're sacrifices. Simple design, powerful.

Beautiful memorial to disabled veterans. Very flat surface, ramp access. No restrooms available. Water fountain hasn't been on in a while.

Hidden behind Bartholdi Park near the U.S. Botanical Garden is the often-overlooked American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial honoring those who are disabled as a result of serving in the military. The memorial includes a reflecting pool in the shape of a star with a ceremonial flame in the center, bronze sculptures, glass panels with quotes on them, granite walls, and trees. It's a large memorial and one worth taking the time to read all the quotes. It's a great space to get a break from the crowds of the National Mall and find some quiet.

This is a new memorial but a good one. It's filled in at a set of land between many of the federal buildings and Congress and of course near the Smithsonian, so there's plenty of reasons to walk by. It was always a bit strange that our memorial cemetery is across the river in the Commonwealth, but it's also worth making note of the fact that many have made sacrifices that didn't land them there. The quotes and images laid out on translucent panels are quite beautiful, and there is ample space to sit and reflect. It's worth stopping by, whatever your reasons for visiting our fine city might be.

This memorial is very important. It really reminds you how much these people deal with to perfect our freedom. These are the "lucky" ones that get to come home, but they are far from being whole.
