Don't shop here much at the Southbury Stop & Shop and within 5 minutes from my house due to bad past experiences in regard to customer service. First off why would I even shop at a Supermarket after spending close to $300.00 and have to deal with a self-checkout because you often have 1 to 2 working registers open. Forget the fact that your store rarely has baggers. I was just about to just leave all my groceries in the cart but instead ran them manually thru the self-checkout which took 25 minutes with multiple issues which needed attention. And of course, the disgruntled Stop & Shop employee managing the self-checkout had a very bad attitude. NEVER AGAIN WILL I WASTE MY TIME AT THIS CRAP STORE. I will pay a little more for a much better customer experience at Caraluzzi's in Newtown CT. How many other families are really going to do this especially with a kid or two shopping with them. Think about. Hire real people. No need to respond Elizabeth J. There is no excuse for this bad service. Fix it.

I had a horrible interaction at the deli counter tonight. The store closes at 10 pm and I got to the deli counter at 9:00 exactly. They proceeded to tell me they were closed and they had four out of five meat slicers closed, one was still open. Anyways the only thing I wanted was 1/2 lb of Boards head white American cheese and they didn't have any prepackaged, they only had the yellow and there was too much in there, so then I looked at Land o Lakes and there was too much in there as well. I explained this all to the deli workers and they didn't care. That is another problem, they pre-package too much cold cuts and cheese. I don't want 1 1/2 to 2 pounds of cheese I just wanted half a pound. It goes bad when there is that much because you don't use all of it. Anyways I walked away when I came upon a manager and she had a little attitude toward me at first when I told her what happened exactly. She said they close at 10 exactly so they need everything clean. I get that but it was a whole hour before they closed and they already had 4 out of 5 slicers closed so how much do you need to clean?! She went over and had them slice the cheese for me which apparently they had to open another slicer instead of using the one that was already open. That's all I wanted- 1/2 pound of cheese and they made a big deal of it. They gave me dirty looks while they sliced it which took less than a minute. It's not that hard to be kind to people and do small things. I get if I came in at 9:30, I wouldn't have asked for it or blamed them but it was a whole hour before and most everything was clean. I miss when they used to close at 11 pm.

I've been to many stores but this one is the worst. First of all, I found expired food in each department; yogurt, bakery, meats, salad bags and moldy produce. I have not experienced this in any other store. I froze the pork chops, took them out and the meat was brown. Whoever is reading this please go to another store. If you are in Southbury go to ShopRite.

Please hire some staff members. It was 6:00pm on Wednesday and there was no one in the meat department, seafood department, bakery, florist. There were pallets of items not put away and one cashier at check out.

I wanted to praise you on the AMAZING and dedicated group of people you have employed at your Southbury,CT location. I wish I could name them all but I wanted to compliment the following specifically. Jen, ALWAYS ready to help a customer. She's very observant and definitely on her A-Game. Leslie, so sweet and so kind and always patiently helps me with my coupons that just won't scan. I will never forget how much she has sanitized those self-checkouts! Jared, Probably the happiest human ever. Anita, I see her so often as I'm in there quite a bit and she's always so friendly and helpful. Dave in Produce is one of my favorite! He's meticulous and I enjoy our quick chats. The Deli Guys, you may have finally got them right. So far they are great and for a while I had a hard time saying that. Treat them well. Lee, will literally stop what's best doing to tell you about a special on eggs or milk and guide us towards that product. What moved me to write this was that my daughter turned to me on the way out and said "Mom, you literally know everyone". I responded that they have become my little friends and I enjoy seeing them. Thank you for cultivating a wonderful team. I shop for both my business and home and since I'm in there so often it's amazing to feel like they are my friends. *If there ever an issue they take care of it asap.

This location was ok in the past but never great. They needed to work on their produce however I consistently went there for their butcher and excellent cuts of meat, particularly the filet. HOWEVER, they have now eliminated the butcher, receive their packaged meat and put it out as if it was cut on site, and to make it worse, even increased the price. Great disappointment. Now, it seems like they cannot even keep inventory on the shelves, and no one wants to hear the pandemic as an excuse when other grocery stores clearly manage it better. There were so many empty shelves this past week that were never refilled. I finally went to Shop Rite down the road who knows how to manage their staff and inventory. I have a feeling this location, while convenient, is out for me.

The people at this store are always very nice and helpful. Some management level is making my life more difficult. There are never enough cashiers and never any baggers. They are tryin to drive you to self check-out. Darn. I already have a job. Always plenty at Shop-Rite! My main beef this week - I love Gold Leaf Diet Iced Tea. So much so that my son and I buy the store out whenever it is there. So, someone decided the best solution to that problem (making too much money?) was to discontinue it. Not all Gold Leaf. Plenty of others just sitting there not being bought. But the one that is flying off the shelves? Discontinued! When I asked who I could speak to to get it back? Nobody. Some nameless, faceless suit who couldn't be bothered. I did some rough calculations. CONSERVATIVELY I have spent over $150.000 at this store. Probably, way more. Shouldn't I be able to get the Iced Tea I like when I BUY IT ALL. Not like it is sitting there not being bought. While you're at it, through in some Stouffer's Cheese Soufflé if they still make it. Thanks for any assistance. If the lady who keeps telling people how much S&S wants to serve it customers comes on - please tell me how to get my iced tea back or don't pretend you care about your customers. That is the only thing that will make me believe you.

If you think that the Southbury Stop & Shop is not up to par you should go to the stop and shop in Southington and then you would think that the Southbury Stop & Shop is the best of my country.

Just got treated so rudely. Had gotten home to find that a couple of boxes had been opened on the side and food stolen from them. Store refused to credit me for items. That's bad enough. But being on speaker phone so I had TWO rude women to deal with, one in the background saying "nope, not going to do it" was worse, especially from a store I've spent thousands at over the years. They say now is the time to practice kindness? These two women missed that memo!

The store is located in the back of the plaza, and it feels cramped. I'm not sure what it was before a Stop and Shop, if it was anything else, but the aisles are little small, the price checker didn't work, and they are clearly trying to push out cashier by creating a corral area of small self-checkouts. However, the store is clean, and the restroom is the most unique I've seen. Instead of separate doors for men and women like I see at most Stop and Shops, they have a shared hallway lined with green tiles out of antiquity.

It's taken over 2 years, over an hour, and 9 attempts contacting the store either in person, on the phone, via email but finally on their FB page I got resolution. Surprise! I've finally been able to sign up for their digital coupon program, after many random failed attempts (name not recognized, # not correct, etc.) They were very gracious and apologetic about the "confusion" and expedited my request up the chain of command. I was able to sign up for their digital coupons and saved a decent amount of money.. making my total purchases after the coupon -- about what I would'e paid at ShopRite just down the road. In summation, if you have a reason to be in this store, say for People's bank, so ahead and shop here. They've given a bit more attention to their produce section and their dry goods section seems to be better stocked. I still would not use this store as my primary grocery stop. Once bitten, twice shy.

Nice lighting and good selection although most item is at least a few cents more than ShopRite. But BEWARE OF DECEPTIVE PRICING POLICIES. I once bought fish there. The sign with the price in large letters read $6.99. Every other price was per pound but this in VERY tiny type read, "per piece" so I ordered a pound and when I got up to the cash register, I realized I was about to pay $26.00 -- very deceptive and just today there was a sign saying "Blueberries $2.99" a box. I took two boxes went to the cashier and they attempted to charged me for $4.99 box telling me they were organic. However the only blueberries under the sign that read $2.99 where organic. So it was impossible to buy any blueberries at the sale price. I find this troubling and dishonest and will think twice before going to the store again.
