Was in the bank speaking with Sue who appeared to be in charge, she was helping me, then another "seemingly regular" customer came in and said hi Sue. She immediately started helping him, ignoring me and directed me to a teller. As a black woman I feel I was dismissed.

Cannot find the Vernon office lists. But it's been an extremely rough and disappointing transition from people's United to m&t. It's like a hot mess. They hold all transactions from posting. Where deposits. Transfers to your mortgage or payments. In this day of technology. That seems very antiquated They allow Amazon to make multiple withdrawals for so called authorizations for one purchase. Yet decline other transactions you actually make. The telllers need some coffee or something to kick them into gear. Seems like they all hate their jobs and could careless. Just negative experiences throughout the entire process from the get go.

Thankfully the ATM line wasn't long and fairly easy to use. The lobby was clean, brightly lit, and had a sense of adequate security.

*This is in reflection of M&T taking People's Bank over, and can also be viewed as part II of my review with the branch in the Ansonia Stop & Shop....Upon todays visit at the Orange branch, I was most pleased with seeing familiar faces behind the counters, and was relived to see this branch was well stocked with deposit and withdrawal slips.As I filled out my new slips - I got the impression that it might be smooth sailing for me, and that everything was going to be ok.Unfortunately for me, I stepped out of line quickly because I thought I wrote a wrong account number down, only to get back in line losing 1 place.To my relief, this did not cost me too much time, as the line was quite short when I got there - but unfortunately what should have been two very simple transactions took probably close to 20 minutes due to the new M&T system put in place.The tellers were all most gracious and did the absolute best they could, but the problem I saw was within M&T itself, as they do banking very different than People's, for instance no more pass books for Savings accounts...I suppose I could get used to that, and be alright with that - assuming that they issue monthly statements in the mail on paper.If they don't - as I refuse to have anything to do with online banking - then I will have no choice but to take my banking elsewhere.Again, the staff at this branch are the very best, super friendly, and really wanting to serve their customers needs - but if the new system in place is not working, then unfortunately the customer suffers, along with the staff who feel genuinely sorry when problems from the changeover arise.I sincerely hope the next time I stop by, things will be better - or at least not worse - but unfortunately I have that sinking feeling that they will not, and then I will have no choice but to take my banking elsewhere.

Small local branch which is helpful and accessible. Manager Silvie is a lovely professional who knows what banking is, or should be, which is really about people. Counter and drive-up staff are old world...ie nice, welcoming, smiling and helpful. Have been there many years. Parking is EZ, coffee is gratis, and office folk know how to send international wire transfers. Office folk can be a tad more welcoming and less rote-focused.
