I recently had an opportunity to visit New haven, Ct. Cambria Hotel restaurant "Nine square". Excellent foods served at this location. Great menu choices with a creative taste like no other in the area.
Ms. D Soto Kitchen Mgr./cook, she's sensational, knows her work.
A must stop for all, if you're in the area and want great food
Food and drinks: Visit "9 square". You'll love any of the Food dish menu choices.
Noteworthy details: Ms. D. Soto, you're good with the food choices you give the customer(s) on the Nine square's menu

If you want a good night's sleep, this may not be the place for you. There was a smoke detector in my room that had a blinking light. It felt like there was a photographer in my room all night taking my photo with a flash every 10 seconds. I complained to the front desk but was told there was nothing they could do - that every room had the same type of blinking smoke detector. The end result was that I was not able to sleep, which in turn disrupted my enjoyment of my trip.

I recently returned from military service in the Middle East and wanted to stay at this hotel. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by unprofessional customer service from the front desk staff, especially the guy with the goatee. The location is concerning, with visible homelessness, signs of drug activity in the area and people looking through cars, which may impact safety and comfort. Additionally, the hotel is quite noisy, with frequent sirens, making it unsuitable for those seeking a quiet stay. As someone who has lived in the New Haven area, I can attest that this neighborhood is not ideal. Please also be aware that parking is an additional expense.

I would NOT recommend unless you can sleep through bright light and loud noise.
(1) Half of the hotel is under construction that creates drilling noise and vibration throughout the hotel from 7:45 (even earlier than what they told me at check-in). The noise makes it impossible to sleep or do anything else in the room. It's useless getting a room on the other side of the hotel because the vibration and the noise will travel through the structure. The only notice I was given was at check-in, and the fact that the hotel is under construction is nowhere to be found on its website, etc.
(2) Every 5-10 seconds, the smoke detector right above the bed flashes light that's bright enough to disturb sleep.

Terrible service and hospitality mentality from the staff.
My daughters and I were asked to move in the middle of dinner from where we thought was the common area. There were couple of staff when we set down to eat, but did not ask us to move. When we were almost done, we were asked to move by one lady, who was not even dressed as hotel employees. The whole area was empty.. missed opportunity to be hospitable and kind.
Similar experiece with other staffs here. We hope staff learn more to be kind and hospitable to their guests.

Very quiet room with comfortable beds. The hotel is very clean and modern. Parking next door but make sure to check in the hotel first to get a parking ticket with your check in.
Check in was quick and friendly.
Walkability: Yale University within walking distance

brand new spacious and clean rooms. when I came in around 10:30am the front desk was empty. finally someone came after a few minutes. said no rooms were available for check in. I sat in the lobby for an hour went back at 11:30 and again no attendant. I went into the back office to ask for an attendant. someone came out and said there was a room available but I would have to pay a $50 early check in fee! I have never heard of that before! if the room is available why pay extra? I've checked in early to plenty of hotels based on availability at no charge. I just came off an overnight bus trip and was desperate to take a shower and change so I paid the fee. I just think it's a rip off to charge for early check in if you have a reservation.

The rooms are modern, spacious, and well designed. Love the Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom. The internet connection, however, is absolutely horrendous. I’ve had better internet in developing countries! A lot of people are here on business and working on their computers so that’s no bueno. Also, the front desk staff are a bit rude to be working in customer service.

We’ve stayed at the Cambria several times since this location opened a couple years back. Being so new the hotel is nice and everything is in good condition. The rooms are comfortable and the beds/bedding are nice. The AC works well but can be a bit noisy (not terrible). The rooms have a mini fridge but no microwave. There is a microwave in the lobby by reception you can use and bring the food back to your room.
The WiFi is included and does not require a password but it seems to disconnect quite often and you have to reconnect.
The bathrooms could use another hook or two to hang your clothes and they don’t have exhaust fans.
There is no pool if that’s your thing, but there is a small gym with some cardio machines and weights.
Parking is in a separately managed structure adjacent to the hotel and is $24/night.
The restaurant has what feels like limited hours. The bar almost never seems to have a bartender and I can’t recall ever seeing anyone use the bar. They also don’t have room service but you can go down and get food from the restaurant and bring it back to your room.
There are 2 elevators and they are ok and not super slow. We did have one time where the elevator was out and we had to use the stairs to the 5th floor.
The staff is friendly when spoken to and accommodating but they generally are not very outspoken.
It’s not the most convenient location to Yale campus but again not terrible. You can walk to cross campus in 20 - 25 minutes. If you have a car, not a problem. We Uber a lot and it’s typically $9-$12 for most trips before tip. If you budget in a couple hundred bucks for Uber during a 3 - 5 day stay that will typically cover it.
