The people were wonderful. They answered all questions and introduced me to cats that would be a great fit. I adopted my cat Murphy. He was in my lap the day I brought him home. We are both very lucky we found each other.

Such loving people helping the helpless animals...who were abused by others ... you are all animal saints!!

They give animals the respect and dignity they deserve when they're at their worst. They embody what a shelter should be. I've both adopted and had to surrender (a stray) to them and each time they were beyond kind and understanding. If you see this review consider missing coffee for a day and donating to them.

We are a nonprofit 501(c)3 no-kill animal shelter and rescue. POA was formed in 1975 to rescue abandoned, abused and stray cats and dogs. Today we are one of the oldest and most respected animal welfare organizations in the northeast. POA is here to stay! You will not find a more dedicated, experienced or thorough resource for improving the lives of Connecticut cats and dogs. We confine our focus to our home state because this is where our infrastructure, resources and leadership reside.
