“Well worth the trip. What they lack is extremely well compensated by the immense savings they pass onto the customer. Their order pick system is also incredibly speedy, usually being ready hours before pick-up time if you’d like to arrive early.The staff is sparse, you have to have quarters to get a cart, and the inventory is somewhat limited as it’s a smaller store than most supermarkets. That being said, the staff that’s there is fantastic, and the prices are unbeatable. I pay $100 here for what I’d spend $200 on at my local supermarket. With everything being so expensive nowadays, it’s been a significant help. I still get a few select items that aren’t available at Aldi from other stores, but the majority of the household grocery shopping is done through their website now.Additionally, according to all the job listings I’ve seen, they pay a few dollars above minimum wage, so their cost cutting doesn’t involve skimping on hourly wages. I enjoy not participating in that sort of garbage.The beer is undrinkable, though. If you’re thinking about buying that from here, I’d advise you simply don’t. Most other things, however, are good quality, and I highly recommend the store.”

“Went to store to get a price adjustment on yesterday's purchase. Customer Service took care of me right away. No questions asked. I was so pleased that I asked to see the Store Manager to thank him and his employees for going the extra mile!UPDATE 7/13/22 - The prices at this store have most definitely gone up due to the economy. However, in all fairness, they've not gone up higher than their competitors. Shelves are not as empty as they were earlier this year; again, in keeping with the economy.This is still my go to store for things I can't get at Stop & Shop.UPDATE 2/26/24 - One of my favorite ways of treating myself, when I go to ShopRite, is buying a pre-made salmon entree. I was greatly disappointed when the store stopped offering it's own 4 differently cooked salmon dinners. They went down to only 1. I let the manager know I'm very disappointed, via the store surveys I always fill out. It's been about 1½ years + they've not started offering different salmon entrees again. But there are other more common entrees such as Mac + Cheese or meatballs. However, I think I'll survive.”

Also, the parking lot always has some litter and trash scattered around, especially in the back of the building. It's been like that for a long time, it should be kept a bit neater. The store is older, so the floors are worn and scuffed in some areas, but they usually keep the floors clean. Overall, this is a fairly good Stop & Shop that has improved a lot over the past year. Previously, this store used to be filthy, messy, poorly managed, had an awful odor near the seafood dept, and just was not a well run or pleasant store to shop in. The current management team has improved upon all of those issues, and now the store is up to par with the rest of the Stop & Shop stores. They recently repainted the front of the store and got new freezers inside, both of which make the store look much better. It has friendly staff and a wide variety of fresh foods. Compared to other local Stop & Shops, the Newtown Rd Danbury store is cleaner but this one has a larger selection. While both of the Danbury stores are fine, the Ridgefield store is the best in the area in terms of selection, staff, cleanliness, and food quality/freshness. This Stop & Shop is very convenient if you're in the West Danbury area, and need groceries. I am pleased with the way the store is being run right now. 3.5 to 4 stars for the Lake Ave Danbury Stop & Shop.”
