My son (an equine DVM) took our dog to the appointment. He was very impressed with the professionalism, courtesy, and patience shown by the SBAH staff. BTW he thought the overall cost of the visit was very reasonable in light of the need for a thorough evaluation, including radiographs, of a canine athletic injury.

Staff was knowledgeable and super friendly. First timer for me and my cat, but felt like I had been going to SBAH all my years in Boulder!

My dog needed to be seen yesterday with his symptoms. After looking around at many places as well as reviews and calling in, this place was able to see my dog 45 minutes after calling in despite being a new patient. This may have been a coincidence. However, they handled him well yesterday and his bill was much cheaper than I was anticipating. The vet answered all our questions and everyone was really kind.
I do have one recommendation though. Please respond to your reviews. When I look at reviews and see some with poor rating, it’s nice to see a response from the business addressing the issue or explaining themselves. It seems all newer reviews for this place with a poor rating don’t have a response to them which was a bit unnerving but decided to bite the bullet as the good reviews outweighed the bad.

Me and my kitty Jimmy were new to South Boulder Animal Hospital today and I have to say everything about my experience was truly wonderful. The ease of scheduling, they promptly found Jimmy’s medical records, they were on time, they were very thorough and answered all of my questions and did not try to oversell me on unnecessary medical tests/etc. I am very happy with this veterinary practice and look forward to bringing all 3 of my cats here! It has been a long time since I have had such good customer care and service.

Excellent doctors, vet techs and staff. Everyone is super gentle and kind to the animals/patients and they all really seem to love animals and to be happy at work. Easy to schedule, reasonable prices. Amazing place. Recommend without the slightest hesitation.

DO NOT GO HERE. Refused to refill my dog’s insulin because her main vet left, without any prior knowledge or information given to us about needing another visit with another vet. We’ve been with this location for over a year. This whole situation is terrible, my dog literally needs the insulin to live & I will never return to this place with the way myself & wife were treated like we were stupid trying to get a refill. Feels like they are money hungry & I refuse to support a place like this.

Again SOBO Animal Hospital and the friendly, outgoing, kind, smart folks that work there went above and beyond when I brought my two dogs in due to excessive itching/scratching!

Our dog had severe complications following his neuter which led to spending thousands of dollars on an emergency veterinary visit. While we know medicine isn't perfect, the most alarming part of our experience was our interaction with the performing surgeon, Dr. Kay, whose reaction to our bad outcome has been defensiveness, gaslighting, and represents a shocking absence of empathy, compassion, and kindness. We picked him up from his procedure at 3pm and within hours, his scrotal skin was so swollen he was leaking blood from his skin in puddles on our floor. It was so swollen he could no longer sit or lie down (he could not close his legs) and he whined incessantly. He underwent a scrotal ablation and, in the aftermath of watching our dog go through this trauma, Dr. Kay has been insistent that the emergency vet mistreated him, that we were wrong for taking him in for more care, and that his surgical approach has been impeccable without any bad outcomes over a 34 year career (this does not feel statistically possible). There is an accreditation veterinary hospitals can apply for called the American Animal Hospital Association (AHAA) which has rigorous standards for care and certification. We will be seeking out a hospital with this accreditation for all care moving forward and we would urge other folks to do the same when looking for care for their animals.

I cannot say enough good about the doctors and the entire support group there. In all honesty, I can't imagine taking my dogs anywhere else!

I use this place as my second Vet and I usually can get my pets right in which is a good thing. I did have to remind the vet tech when he told me he was going to administer a pill for me for my dog that he was going to put it in her mouth and rub her neck I told him that nobody can rub my dog's neck because she has a collapsing trachea( which he should've known and maybe wasn't paying attention). Besides that they do pretty good work and would recommend

I just came home from this veterinary office after finally deciding to switch from our old place, and really wish we had been coming here the whole time. Everyone who works here is so kind and seems to genuinely enjoy what they do, and Dr Dodge was wonderful. He was so attentive and interested in my dog and you can tell he really cares, he even got on the floor himself to do vaccines! Finding a vet can be so difficult because you want someone who actually knows your animal - we were only here one time so far but I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a vet in Boulder.
