This review is in regards to the awful experience we had with the Y Riders program last summer. Our 6 year old still refuses to go near his bike after the week he spent there. We requested a refund, but were ultimately denied. Here was the email sent to the YMCA:After talking with our son yesterday post camp, it seems he did not make any progress in the camp and even after we requested some more assistance, he received little help. We decided not bring him back today (Friday) as it seems the majority of his week was spent sitting around in a parking lot with not much to do. My husband drove by in the morning yesterday and saw most of the Y-Riders kids just sit around and draw with chalk. Our son mentioned that they did this most of the day and that each time he tried to ride the bike, he was just on his own, trying the same thing over and over again with no actual instruction on how to work through these issues. We are truly disappointed in this experience and do not feel what was advertised about this camp, such as "low teacher to student ratio" or "100% success rate", "very small classes", "individual attention to cyclists" was even close to being accurate.Other issues of note for the camp this week:1. The camp staff did not seem to remember our son nor recognize the parents day to day. On Tuesday when we asked how our son was progressing, they did not seem to have any idea who he was and could not provide an update about his progress, and when my husband came by again later in the morning, they again had no idea who he was, despite having talked to them specifically about helping our son today.2. Camp staff seemed generally overwhelmed, and two different staff members voiced concerns directly to my husband about there being too many kids. They also mentioned there was no organized curriculum - no plan to run the day, which is especially disappointing for the price of this program. I do want to note that the first day of camp seemed to go well when Brittany Vella was teaching. Our son had a good time. But it seemed that the rest of the days when Brittany was not there, it was not well organized.3. Thursday during the pickup was absolute chaos, and the staff was not doing anything about it, kids running and screaming everywhere and food all over the floor, toys thrown everywhere, etc. This does not seem like a safe and well-organized environment for kids.4. At no time during the pickup this week did anyone check my ID. Anyone could have taken my child out of there. This is unacceptable and extremely concerning, and a larger problem that should be addressed immediately. We will be requesting a refund because the class description did not match the experience. And we hope that this program will be evaluated and improved to make it a better experience for others.

We spent the day here for a craft fair. We were one of 100 booths for a Christmas arts and crafts event. The place seemed to be clean, the bathrooms were clean and kept up. It seems as if the place was going through a renovation period… I’m not sure ?If I lived in Boulder or close by I would probably go back and use the facilities.

This review is only for the pool, as it the sole reason I go there.Their pool has been closed for nearly 3 months this year cumulatively. They rarely give advance notice and, if they do, it is usually not in time to plan around it. I understand construction is necessary and parts need to be replaced sometimes, but I try to take time out of my day and off of work to get in a quick swim. They simply are not set up for that flexibility or they just don't care. However, there are few alternatives in Boulder. Boulder Rec is similar. Elks may be worth looking into.

We had an opportunity to stay in Boulder for a month and our son attended two weeks of summer camp at the Boulder location. The staff & camp was fantastic and highly recommended. I took the opportunity to workout and use some of the facilities while he was at camp. The facilities could definitely use a face lift as it all seems pretty outdated & the lockers smell funky.

Love the new warm pool! Not for laps, maybe, but synchronized swimming is great.

Definitely a great, clean gym with great staff, one of the best around Boulder. However, the barbells are old, some of them bent irregularly, and not compliant to any standards. Even just 1 new barbell would be a huge upgrade to the entire gym. It would definitely make the lifting safer.

I love being a member of this Y!! **I will provide a disclaimer that I am a family member of one of the managers here but as an active member I really just wanted to share my personal experience in this gym and community so hopefully others will come join us. I was NOT incentivized or asked in any way to make this review.**The community at Mapleton is really special and I’ve made many friends here since moving to Boulder this summer. All of the classes I’ve taken have been informative and inclusive of all skill levels. I especially enjoy the Body Pump classes. They’re challenging but so fun and welcoming. There are many regulars at Mapleton and it’s fascinating to hear their stories. Some of the regulars at this Y have been going here for 20+ years. ? I think this Y does a great job of helping foster connections and I’m grateful to have a social space since I work from home normally. They recently did an Art Night which was awesome and a great place to connect with the staff and other members outside of a fitness setting. The facility is always clean (as it should be) and they’re clearly investing in its improvement as well. They just repainted the outside and I hear they’re repainting the inside soon. It looks great! They lost their pool over the summer due to structural issues but they’ve been making up for it and adding new classes elsewhere.I also want to make a special note that, as a woman, I feel safe and included at this gym, far more than any other gym I’ve been to. It seems obvious, but they are definitely taking measures to make sure everyone feels welcome here. You’ll come for the classes and great facility but you’ll end up staying for the amazing people and energy of this gym.
