Outstanding customer service and pride in their product! We opted to relocate our well-loved murphy bed to a new home. We disassembled, transported and reassembled it ourselves. Seemed straightforward enough however, upon the first test, the struts didnt seem to want to work. The bed made more creaking noises than we remember, plus it took much more force to make the bed even wiggle while it was in its upright position, let alone move normally to the floor. After a week of tinkering with it in an attempt to troubleshoot, it dawned on us 'why not check in with Sonoma Woodcraft to see if they had any suggestions' Well..... they did way more than suggest. Since some quick video and photo emails didnt provide them with enough to determine the cause of malfunction, Chess drove 4 hours each way to the bed's new home to diagnosis and fix the issues... on a holiday weekend. He took his time and determined there was just enough wear and tear on the hardware and some wood parts that despite looking ok, prevented the system from normal operation (and it didnt help that one panel was reinstalled slightly out of alignment) The parts that were broken and worn were replaced or repaired - to do so he essentially took apart and reassembled a good portion of the unit - glue, screws, drilling, new hardware... he even reinstalled the wiring for the lighting, which I didnt get around to doing yet. We were left with a bed that once again works like it was designed, and we look forward to putting it to good use with many future house guests. This unit also had some decorative handles on the face of the faux cabinets that pulls that were missing. Much like socks that go missing in the wash, these pulls mysteriously vanished at some point between day 1 and relocation day. Of course no house guest, child or adult knew where they were or when they were last seen. Chess noticed they were missing and although not part of the proper function of the murphy bed, he arranged to have replacements sent to us so our 'functioning like new' murphy bed also looked complete. Chess and I chatted while he was working. I learned that his family started the company and he now after their retirement, he helps close friends keep the business going. We have been very happy with the quality of the Sonoma Woodcraft product we own but knowing more about the crew that built it and experiencing the care they take in helping maintain that product for a customer.... I am blown away. Chess and team deserve 6 yelp stars. I will recommend Sonoma Woodcraft to anyone even slightly interested in a murphy bed solution. If they received only half the customer satisfaction and service I got, they will be extremely pleased. Thanks again Chess, high five!

Greg ghosted me back in September. We had texted and emailed and I even approved an estimate but then he never responded to two follow-up emails. The phone number on their website is his cell so I don't think there's anyone else I could work with there. Big bummer because I really love their craftsman style.

I bought a twin wall bed many years ago (I think 2012?) for our house in San Francisco. It's served us very well, and fit our ~1000 sq. ft. house - while looking great at the same time! We recently moved to Sacramento and decided to ask Greg O. of Sonoma Woodcraft if his company would de-install the bed from our SF house and re-install it in Sacramento. Greg offered a reasonable price, showed up in SF and Sac. when he said he would, and did a beautiful job of taking the bed out, storing it, transporting it to Sacramento, and re-installing it. Couldn't be happier!

The quality of the design and construction is far above the industry average. The service is excellent. Essentially, you are getting custom built furniture at a price much closer to a factory furniture price than a custom built price. I think the way they can do this is that they have a very small range of pieces that they build, thus they can reuse their jigs; the set-ups are the same; they don't need new cut lists every time, etc. But if you happen to need a wall bed and you like their style and you don't live too far from their shop, you are very lucky. Otherwise your options are limited to crappy factory furniture or custom-built furniture that costs many thousands more. In my particular case the wood they chose for the casing had spectacular grain. I suspect that is standard practice.

I was seeking a home office solution in a small San Francisco space that wouldn't mean sacrificing our precious guest room. Jake worked with us to design exactly what I wanted--something with an Mid-century Modern feel, a standing desk, plenty of shelving, and storage space when gets come over--without losing the queen bed we had before. What he and his team delivered exceeded every expectation! It's even more beautiful that I'd imagined it would be.Throughout the process, Jake was super-responsive over email, which made the process of approving the final design, finishes, and hardware really easy. The installation team were polite and professional, and everyone was a breeze to work with. Plus, I'm so thrilled to be able to support a family-owned business!

Jake and his crew built us a stunning queen wall bed for our guest room. We had seen one in a rental and when we bought our house, he was the first person we visited. We add bookshelves and the pull-down table top and couldn't be happier with it. The craftsmanship is impeccable and his installation crew were polite, efficient and did a great job. Would highly recommend Sonoma Woodcraft to anyone! I'll try to add photos when I can.

We bought our queen size Craftsman Murphy bed with table about 6 years ago. It makes my office into a guest room without us giving up much space. I use the table to sort papers, do projects or just as a place to get my taxes ready!! The workmanship has held up with not a loose item anywhere. We use the bed at least monthly and sometimes multiple times a week. It works so well, and we have moved it three times and reinstalled it as we rearranged our house, moved, and moved again. It is a winner.

We couldn't be more pleased. Jake and his crew are excellent craftsmen, and the finished product works like a dream. (How appropriate for a bed!) These guys not only do good woodworking--they also installed the bed perfectly.
