Staffed by rude, annoying very elderly people with no manners, and no sense about how to run a museum. We're fed up with this badly run museum and annoying place with very few good exhibits, there are far more excellent places to go to, so avoid this museum, + other museums are well run and have very good exhibits .

Very interesting. Small museum that tells a lot about the history of California.

Quaint, interesting museum and art gallery in a quiet and picturesque part of Santa Monica. You are transported back in time by the building interior architecture and original Monterey furniture, along with a dazzling collection of Meyers Rainbow pottery and California folk art on the first floor. The second floor exhibition on our visit was a brilliant display of California Water Color Society art from 1921-1971. The paintings were beautiful, intriguing and unique. I would have loved to buy postcards and an exhibition catalogue. However the little shop has many relevant and quality books about Californian art. Our volunteer guide was lovely and well-informed.

A don't miss gem for California art. It's a charming, small museum, the kind that you can see everything in an hour or so. The exhibits are always of the very highest quality artistically and well-curated. We just enjoyed the exhibit of the California Water Color Society - fascinating and beautiful chronological exhibit from 1921 to 1971. Super interesting to see what subject matter interested the artists and to see documentation of what Los Angeles looked like a century ago. We have never been disappointed by our visits.

Lovely house, it made me nostalgic. I think they had 2 exhibits when I was there. One was a photography exhibit of business owners in Santa Monica. I thought that was really good. Nice place to see some art.

I had a lovely time. The quilts were beautiful. The people there were helpful and we got a little tour of the quilts. We met one of the makers and got to speak with her.

Have seen this place a million times and finally went in. Very disappointed. Quilts were beautiful but the tour guide was clueless about the history and some of the knick knacks were...questionable (swastika pillow)

Super nice tour guide, quick tour but $5 to preserve history and enjoy some AC on a hot day was well worth it.

This review is for the NightLife at the Academy. This event has been on my bucket list for a while, and now I can finally cross it off! I came here about nine years ago for a field trip. Obviously, it has changed quite a bit since then.
