My experience with Dollar Rent A Car at Guadalajara international airport was nothing short of a nightmare. Despite having a reservation clearly stating a reasonable $210, the final bill they handed me felt like a cruel joke. They attempted to scam me out of a whopping $824, four times the agreed-upon amount. It's as if they believe highway robbery is an acceptable business practice.Their customer service was equally appalling, with unhelpful staff who seemed more interested in pushing unnecessary add-ons than addressing my legitimate concerns. It's mind-boggling how a company can operate with such blatant disregard for honesty and customer satisfaction. Avoid Dollar Rent A Car at all costs, unless you enjoy being taken for a financial rollercoaster ride with a side of dishonesty.

I recently had a great experience with Dollar Car Rental at John Wayne airport in Santa Ana. The service was excellent, and the staff member who assisted us was friendly, open, and very helpful. He went above and beyond to accommodate our needs without charging extra, and we were provided with a decent-sized car that comfortably fit our group and luggage. The rental price was reasonable, and the gas mileage on the car was impressive. Although I wouldn't personally buy a Subaru, driving one for the first time was enjoyable and it got us where we needed to go. The seats were roomy and comfortable, and the car had advanced technology features that enhanced our driving experience. Overall, if you're in need of a rental car, I highly recommend checking out Dollar Car Rental. The only reason I deducted one star was because the return process lacked the same level of service orientation. However, I encourage others to document their own experiences and contribute to the Yelp community.

I rented a car on 11/18 and it was supposed to be there for 13 days. On the fifth day, Wednesday, right after I left for work, the engine would not start, so I called the office and they said they would send AAA over, AAA came right away and said the engine was dead. He said he would charge it but he did not know if the engine would start safely after this. I called the office again to let them know and they told me to bring my car back so they could fix it. I told them that it was not my fault and that I was on duty and could not bring it with me, so you guys would have to bring a loaner car or a battery or something. I told them that they should bring a loaner car or a battery, but they said that was not possible. I told them I didn't need the car anymore because I had to work from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm for 5 days including that Wednesday and I couldn't go there and if the car didn't work, I would be in big trouble. They just said they were sorry and did not respond or make any suggestions. The following Monday (10 days after renting the car and 6 days after it stopped working) I went to return the car. Sure enough, the engine wouldn't start, so I asked a friend to come over and start it. When I returned the car, I was told that I could just drop the car off and be done with it, and nothing was shared about the problem. When I told the office about the problem, the first thing they said was "nothing can be done". I called the manager and explained the problem, and 10 minutes later I was told how about $260. The original price was 560. I said yes. He said yes. He said it would probably be processed in two days. Two days later, this morning, I checked the statement and to my surprise, there was a $260 charge in addition to the $560. If I hadn't checked, I would have paid $820 for using the car for only four days, plus I rented a car from another company for $480.The REVIEW is still low now, but I would never recommend this company. You will lose time and money. But it might be a good business model because they can take more money from customers who don't complain.

I would leave zero stars if I could. I reserved a car through AAA for a wedding that I was attending in Georgia. I took a red eye to Atlanta and landed at 4:20am. The airport is empty since it’s so early. Went to the counter to get my reserved car and Dollar Rental told me no car was available and I should try other places since they “didn’t know how to help”. Had to visit 3 other rental car companies before I finally found a car, but it was double what I had originally booked for the weekend. I had to take it since I needed to get to the wedding that was 2 hours away. Then Dollar Rental said that they weren’t going to reimburse me the difference between the two cars since I “never used my reservation” on a car that they never had for me….makes total sense (not!). Very disappointed is an understatement

Rented an suv. Process was easy, staff was polite. Keep in mind when you rent a car, there are car insurance that covers your rental and another's car in case of accident, tolls charges if you cross any. Good pointer...they ask you if you want to bring gas tank almost empty and they fill it for you. I said yes at an additional cost of $109. To fill tank....well we hardly used the car and we were told agreement made already. I drove around extra but only used quarter tank. I will definitely fill up car myself prior to returning next time. Oh and take video and pics of car too incase they say those dents and scratches weren't there. Cover yourself. Overall a good experience.

We had a mini-van reserved thru Dollar & Thrifty - not realizing they were the same office. We were immediately told they didn't have any cars and we would have to wait '2 hours' to get the van OR we could pay $600 and they would 'find' us a mini-van. It screamed SCAM loud and clear. Long story short, they got us a SUV, charged us $666 instead of the $386 we had reserved PLUS they required us to purchase a full tank of gas - which came to $187. Then they acted as if they were doing us this huge favor! We have never had this problem before in all the times we've rented from other offices - but we felt totally taken. Just beware - they will possibly not have the car you reserved fair and square, yet 'somehow' they will find you another vehicle - for just a little more cash!

I wish I could give this location 0 stars. Long story short - they take advantage of the people who are not fluent in English, use really shady sales practices and do not have any customer service. When I dropped the car at San Diego airport and told your staff about our problem, they said "yes, unfortunately that's how it works at Santa Ana Airport". I think that explains everything. Shout-out to the agent at San Diego airport who tried to help us, but said we have to talk to your location (2 emails sent, received email that your agent will contact me back soon but that never happened) - awesome way how to deal with your customers. Be aware when you rent a car in this location and do not expect anything from them. Never again.

We came over to extend a car rental that was previously performed in excellency by Jeannette and Michael. Both incredible pillars of kindness and professionalism in this company. From 08/26 to 09/01. When my wife and I came across Mr Henny on 09/01/23 to extend our rental; he was rude and miseducated. He didn't know Puerto Rico was part of the USA. He refused to rent to us claiming we had an international license. When he was told by a co worker that he could rent to us. He then refused to honor our reservation and made us make a new one. He didn't want to take our bank card, because it was a Puerto Rico bank card. When we called our bank and he wasn't unable to refuse; he then didn't want to accept the insurance our bank card provided and forced us to take an insurance of the car rental company. He was rude and forced us to wait hours before giving us our car. So much time had passed there was no longer a car available for us to rent. When a coworker intervened and said to just give us an SUV he then refused made us wait even longer until a Camey came available. Then he washed me if I knew what a Camry was and if I've ever seen a car like that. When I refused to take his scuff. And told him that my son would be driving the car and I didn't care what kind of car it was I just wanted to leave. Then asked my wife if her son was also my son. This is sexual harassment. Hanny has no right to ask any questions about my family tree. He is rude, racist and a threat to this company. Rental Record #548034001

ONE PERSON working the counter with 14 people in line on a busy Saturday morning. Incredibly incompetent management. It's not like we don't all have pre-set reservation times! What's the point of booking a reservation when you have to wait 30 minutes just to get to the counter. Absurd. Unacceptable and rude. Dollar. You should do better.

I want to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I received from Dollar Car Rental at John Wayne AirportWe reserved and prepaid for a rental vehicle and never received it. To add insult to injury, not one person from Dollar had the decency to call me back after numerous calls and emails.I am beyond furious that a company can blatantly mistreat its customers like this. It's completely unacceptable.I flew in from Vancouver, Canada to Santa Ana with my 2 kids on on July 24th for our annual 5-day vacation. I arrived at the rental counter with our reservation in hand for a vehicle pick-up at 1:30 pm.This is when the nightmare began. The clerk informed me there were no cars available and that they would call me in 3 hours. They never called. At around 5pm, I called Dollar to follow up. I was given the run-around by their customer service department. I ended up talking to 5 different people and no one could help me out,The first representative gave me the number of Santa Ana Dollar Rentals. So I gave them a call and after waiting 20 minutes to get through I was put back in the queue to the same department. The next person I spoke with said, "I'll transfer to you customer service - they can help you out." She transfers me to a voice mail that says, Welcome to Hertz , we are now closed.I call back again and speak with Angelie. I ask to speak with a supervisor and sit on hold for another 15 minutes at which point I'm disconnected.I then call back again and speak with May who says, there is really nothing we can do. You have to wait for the call from Dollar at the John Wayne Airport? We went full circle. No one ever called me back and as a result we had to resort to using Ubers for the entire vacation. In this day and age, customer service is everything. Why didn't the agent at the counter call me back after 3 hours? Why didn't anyone from the customer service department call me back or a supervisor as I had requested. I also submitted an email the evening of July 24th to Dollar's customer relations department at the advice of one of their representatives. Again, no response. Our vacation has now ended. We spent close to $1000 in Ubers, and $60 in prepaid parking that we didn't use.I'm absolutely shocked that an organization of this size can get away with treating customers this way. They obviously just don't care.So disappointing.Pete R.

When Traveling to Chicago I reserved and paid for a Dollar Rental car. When I arrived they did not have a car for me and could not give me a time when a car would be ready. There were a dozen people in front of me that had been waiting for 2 hours. I ended up finding another rental company for triple the price. This is not how one should run a business.
