We are so lucky to have this wonderful store in our community. They have such a wide selection for every age and price range. They’ve always had exactly what we are looking for, whether it is something fun, educational, special/heirloom quality, or small knickknacks. The staff are always friendly, knowledgeable, and super helpful, and have on more than one occasion pointed me towards exactly the right type of toys and books when I’m shopping for a gift for a kid. I also love that they gift wrap for free. We love Whiz Kids!

I stopped here on a whim with my prek daughter on her birthday when her pocket full of birthday money. I grew up in Los Osos, near the first location (near Carlocks) but had not stepped foot in the door in fifteen years. It was magical. I've admittedly shopped on Amazon for the last decade, but watching her eyes light up as she sorted through the puzzles, costumes and toys was wonderfully nostalgic. I get the convenience of Amazon and big box shopping, but we lose the wonder of experiencing a shop full of imagination. We found a couple toys we had been eyeing online elsewhere for similar and even less money. My daughter was able to pick several treasures with money to spare. I also value toys that last, not just quality-wise, but as in toys that kids will play with through multiple stages. Toys that inspire them to play creatively instead of entertain them. The store was packed with great options! While she explored the toys, my toddler played with the hands on train set and I caught up with the owner. What a lovely place. We joined the birthday club and will likely be back every birthday we can.

This store is always a delight to visit, but the owner and staff are so amazing that I can even make perfect purchases remotely. Whiz Kids only carries high quality products, but what sets the store above others is the talented, smart, caring owner and staff.

I SO LOVE this local toy store. The personnel always have time to help you select the perfect gift. They are happy to go into details on how each game is played and what their customers have found are particular favorites. They have an amazing selection of Toys from A-Z. You just can't get this kind of help and guidance from the Online retailers or Big Box Stores. It is such a good feeling to help a wonderful small business like this succeed!! Their prices are certainly more than competitive, especially considering they gift wrap for free and you have to wait and pay for shipping!!

This place has it all… seriously - such a littlegem in slo! Maileg, Sarah’s Silks, Schleich, Land of Dough. omg, the list goes on.So many brands i usually have to buy online & pay for shipping but now can pick up for FREE after a Trader Joe’s trip ( it’s literally next door)Anyways, the owner is the sweetest lady and for my daughters 1st birthday today she gave her a really special gift and my daughter absolutely loved it( not going to lie, I had fun playing with it as well)I double dog dare you to walk into the store and not leave with a cart filled of the coolest toys your kiddos are going to keep going back to time after time.

I had to buy a last minute gift for a child's birthday party. I walked into the store. They were extremely helpful, and I walked out with the most thoughtful and perfect gift. Highly recommend.

My daughter was pregnant with our very first grandchild and we stopped in to give this place a perusal. And wow, we were very pleasantly surprised. The shelves are chocked, full of high quality children's toys, and knickknacks. We were very impressed with how helpful the stuff was as well. The prices are a little high, but to be expected with the quality level. I found similar items on Amazon for close to the same price, so that it makes it easier to actually get to touch and experience an item before you purchase it. It's a little hidden treasure, so you should go check it out.
