Came to SLO for my wife’s birthday and couldn’t have been happier with our decision to stay at The Butler Hotel. This was a new type of stay for us as there is no front desk, however once we walked in we immediately understood that this property was special and didn’t require one. They email and text you the code to the front fore and the code to your room. Upon walking in we were shocked at how nice everything looked and the attention to detail with the design. There was a bottle of wine and local treats on the bar, and cute little reading/sitting area, and the interior design was amazing. As for the room, we loved the tall ceilings, lighting, and bathroom design. Everything just seemed to flow well.I would definitely recommend this place!

There's a reason this place gets almost all 5 star reviews- it's honestly perfect. If there was a rooftop pool I'd want to move in.It's definitely different. If you love the experience of staying at a hotel, this might not be for you. If you want the feel of an AirBnB with the hotel touches, this is the place. If you like great design, thoughtful touches but don't want to interact with people, this is the place. There is a contactless check-in, you simply punch in your special code. The bar area is set up with complimentary wine in the afternoon and a nice continental breakfast spread in the morning (little Danishes that tasted so fresh, muffins, fruit, etc). There is a lounge area with beautiful seating, a record player with great albums. We stayed in Room 4 and the bed was so comfortable. The bathroom was clean and spacious. Every detail is well thought out.The main area was a bit warm during the day with a large fan running, but our room was perfectly ACed.We took advantage of the bikes and cruised around the downtown area, all the way to Madonna Inn and to the SLOMA. We also sat outside in the morning with our coffees, which you can prepare with the french presses set up in the kitchen.I don't have plans to be in SLO again, but if I did, I would 100% stay here again.Kelly was The Butler and so helpful with any questions we had. Thanks Kelly!

Nice looking hotel, nice soaps. Pillows not the best. Be aware the common area is not heated, though not listed on site. So common room is not useful for a number of months of the year. Staff could be a bit more friendly.

Great, quiet retreat. French press coffee in the morning was delicious. Close enough to downtown, yet easy parking. We'll be back, I'm sure!

The Butler Hotel... best kept secret in SLO!!!We just spent our 23rd Wedding Anniversary at the Bulter Hotel in SLO. Four nights in a beautiful room with lovely accommodation's. This boutique hotel was not only charming, modern and exceptionally clean, but the Hotel Manager (Kelly) has outstanding customer service and answered any questions with promptness and kindness. I noticed a comment about being a bit pricey compared to other hotels in the area. I feel it was right on the mark as far as cost. Easy access using a personal door code, Continental breakfast (French press coffee, fruit and individual granola packets), 13 minute walk to downtown SLO and free parking. Kelly even delivered clean towels and additional soaps and shampoos on the 3rd day.A nice outdoor patio for warmer evenings and equally nice indoor area for cooler evenings. Spoke to other hotel occupants and all were so happy with the accommodations. We were so pleased with the Butler Hotel. We will be back and will tell our friends about this amazing hotel! Thank you Kelly and the Butler Hotel!Lorraine K - Boise, Idaho

I'm a CalPoly dad and I love this spot for when I go for visits. The room is very nicely appointed and the traffic sound doesn't bother me at all.

This place is magical. It's right in downtown, but hidden with the lovely benefit of privacy. The rooms have an elegant feel, and are updated. There's a record player in the lobby area with plenty of records to choose from, and complimentary bicycles we took to the surrounding area for fun and shopping.
