“The bakery here is Amazing! Not only did I get my wedding cake done here I have had them also do birthday cakes for my youngest daughter my grandson twice and now it's my oldest daughters turn! The lady head baker is by far the BEST in the whole area! Love her! She is my reason for returning time and time again! So thank you for keeping her year after year.”

“This is my fave stop for some great Mexican food. It's so go good we often stop in on our way home from the bay area to pick up the yummiest shrimp ceviche and chips along with burritos. The shrimp burritos are our fave but all their food is yummilicious. The store is very clean, the staff are outstanding and friendly. It's a place you can go to pick up market items or to grab tacos, burritos, rice beans, etc. You'll def be glad you stopped at the El Rancho Mkt. Highly recommend!!”

“Come here as an alternative to Berkeley Bowl, produce section and deli are some of my favorites here. Which are better priced than Safeway on the street. Most other items are marked up too high for me. But $7.99 for a simply yet filling sandwich? Come here for the produce but hit up the deli”

“Was in the area and in the mood for a sandwich. Decided to give them a try after finding them on Yelp. Glad I did, food looks like the pictures and tastes as good. Service and food was excellent. I saw a sign in the window saying they have been open since the fifties. I can see why. I got the turkey/avocado/bacon with pepperjack cheese on Dutch crunch roll. Their sandwiches are massive and reasonably priced. Will be back! (Have already been back once)”

“Raised in the neighborhood they carry just about everything you would want in a grocer store but very over price . I consider it to be a neighborhood desperate stop”

“Haven't been here since a kid with Grandma. I was pleasantly surprised to how neat, organized and clean it was inside. The produce was fresh and bright, grabbed greens for 1.99 a pound and turkey wings. Prices on some things weren't displayed but prices were fair especially on the meat. There's a DMV, check cashing, Western Union, candy area, other small business inside. Really conveniently located . The staff was friendly and helpful. Everyone had a positive vibe and was knowledgeable about items in the store. Honestly this is one of the best grocery store I've been to. I was apprehensive as we drove to it because neighboring streets appear shady although it was very clean inside and out of the store, no weird smells, or people hanging around. I would definitely shop here they also have boudin, gumbo, and other southern treats and spices. Try it and hit like if you enjoy you won't be disappointed.”

“My love for Mi Carnal runs so, so deep. Where else can you get large avocados for 3 for $1 or two honeydews for $1? Or in the summer, 20 limes for $1? Or 2 lbs of navel oranges for $1? I mean the specials here are actually crazy. I regularly walk out of here with 20lb of groceries for around 10 bucks. Yes, the groceries outside are definitely some type of salvage and should be carefully chosen and then eaten IMMEDIATELY (or as soon as you can manage). Sure, everything else in the market is priced pretty normally. But seriously, how did this neighborhood get so lucky? This is THE spot for very ripe groceries at an incredible price.”

“I love this little market. It has everything you would expect at a convenience store plus a lot more, including produce. I typically stop here for snacks, wine, or just for something I forgot to grab at the supermarket. One of the things I like best about this place is the extensive wine and beer selection as well as the fact that every single wine bottle has a price sticker on the top of it so I'm never wondering.”

“La Esperanza TriColor is a Mexican grocery that's been here a few years. there's limited parking nearby. found parking in front. offerings: meat dept. fruits & vegetables, mex. groceries, snacks, dairy, tamales, etc. eats: sweet corn, pork tamale (total: 4.98) 100% mexican -passed on chicken (usually dry) and cheese chili -the cream corn one was bigger, had cream corn embedded thruout tamale. -the pork meat was red coloured, slightly peppery in taste. yummy taste. -didn't look for drink since mex. drinks are also very sweet. *tamale tray is at left side of entrance.”

“They have a pretty great selection of sugary breakfast cereals, hardly any organic section except olive oils. They have almond milk most of the times I've been there. This company is a meat market deli, and there is a Mexican foods restaurant at location inside store too. Love this! Parking lot departing is sort of strange or awkward to leave in certain directions.”

“This business is now known as Mercadito El Batan. And they make killer pupusas. The pupusas are made on the grill outside and foil wrapped to keep the heat in to bring them home and eat. There are other things as well that they make too. There is a menu next to the door that talks about the kind you can get and there are other things on the menu, I cannot make out what it says. Not fluent in Espanol. I did see lots of styles of Mexican Sodas on the menu as well. If you want to eat your food there, there is limited seating. Indoor seating. One odd thing, I paid with my card and asked for a E receipt. The business comes up as Romero's Pupusas so I don't know if they have anything to do with the main store or not but this little place to eat needs to be recognized more and properly put on maps online and perhaps Yelp!”

“Fresh meat and fresh produce. The prices seem to be less expensive than major grocery chains. I picked up a few pounds of chicken legs. On sale for $0.89 lb. They were the size of baby dinosaur legs. Lol”

“Great place, has a big variety of stuff for a tiny corner store. Wonderfully friendly owner and his son who are very accommodating and caring. I go out of my way to come here often even though I have a closer corner store to me.”

“This is some og place that only grannies know where to get some bang for their buck. I only know cos my nanny brings her mom here to shop :D There is barely any service here unless you're an equally cranky elderly who has sass or a frequent customer. This is more of a wholesale place that sells bulk restaurant goods like plastic utensils, take out containers, baking aluminum supplies, old school plastic round washing tubs and chairs in primary school colors (iykyk), bulk baking soda and other seasonings/condiments, Chinese cooking sauces and oil in large gallon tin cans or jugs, lotus seed paste in bulk, dry soup herbs, and old school snacks like garden coconut cookie rings, sesame candies, plastic snack tubs of star sugar biscuits. There's some regular size commonly used Chinese sauces, aroy-d coconut milk $1.59 that usually sells for $1.99-2.29 elsewhere. Also saw Prima Taste brand laksa paste in bulk bag for $15!! that'll be good for at least 5 meals but it says use within 3 days. Definitely more for restaurant use or a large event. There's also veggies in a stand format at the front but not a lot of choices like your regular Asian supermarket. Four stars for cheaper prices but you're gonna have to navigate on your own in the narrow aisles which is open to the public but not really meant to be customer oriented. Probably not English speaking either fyi. They have frozen produce too but idk they look questionable in terms of how long they've been sitting there. Most of them are in these ice cream like chest freezers vs the usual store large open door freezers in supermarkets. There's only 3 or 4 parking spots near the entrance. Otherwise street parking which isn't difficult but may need a shopping cart or some help carrying in case you end up buying a lot.”
