Had a super weird glitch happen to me at the register, my gift card was swiped a few times and the balance got lower without actually purchasing any items yet! Jamie stepped in and was very helpful and patient during the entire process (neither of us knew why or how this happened) she is very kind and understanding, she helped me call customer service at that exact moment the issue happened! She definitely made me feel like my issue was getting resolved and not brushed under the rug! 5 stars from me! Thank you Jamie!

I went to the Ulta store at 31 Curtner Ave., in San Jose the other day (May 15, 2024) in the afternoon to buy some hairspray. The cashier asked for my phone number. I told her I’d prefer not to—spam calls and all. She insisted she could not sell me the product until I provided my phone number. The manager was walking by at that moment. I asked him about the policy. He said ‘yes’, that was the policy—they won’t sell anything to anyone who didn’t provide a phone number. I left.
The next day I went to another Ulta store in a neighboring city. They asked for the phone number. I declined. This time, the person said no problem and completed the sale.
It is clear there is some corporate marketing effort regarding getting customers’ phone numbers. What is also clear is the store on Curtner Ave. is using this as some strong-arm technique to get customers’ phone numbers. Whether it is to look good in the marketing campaign, or for some nefarious reason (maybe the manager doesn’t want to sell to certain groups of people, or use the numbers for some personal reasons—I don’t know.) Whatever the reason, it could be a serious violation of customers’ rights—either as a whole, or against protected groups. Not to mention the fact that I am seriously reconsidering whether I want to continue giving Ulta my business.

Asked the GM if she had any recommendations for fragrance since she's been there so long, she said no, and that she's been there for 8 years...how you gonna have 0 recommendations after 8 years, you literally have one job lmao. The employee also didn't have any recommendations for perfume and left as soon as she could, without helping us a bit. Why do you work somewhere when you don't give a shit about the products

Terrible service? on March 6th they ruined my hair, I called to get a solution and they told me that I can only return so that someone else can paint it and it will be more expensive to recover the color of my hair than Damaris who took care of me. It was done in 6 months, that is, all my 6-month investment was lost due to bad practice.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE PLACE.
My hair was dark brown
And on March 6 they painted it black

I went into today for a signature haircut and scalp treatment with Susan. She was amazing made me feel comfortable and really nice. This was my very first time at the Ulta salon and to top that off, my first time with a new stylist. I was very timid and didn't chat too much. But I came in with a plan for my hair and I showed Susan my reference photos. She went above and beyond and did an amazing job. Right before leaving I told her what my goal is for my hair and she booked the next appointment right then. For anyone who is worried about trying out the salon at Ulta, I recommend doing it, book that appointment! And highly recommend Susan

Workers talk bad about customers…My mom ordered a few body scrubs through pick up. I decided to look around the store for some skin care while my mom was picking up her order. When I was waiting in the line, the workers were talking bad about “the lady with glasses who got the body scrubs” and I immediately knew it was my mom. I listen in their conversation and it really hurt me how they were calling her names and a one worker said “stop that’s mean.” They also said that she gives off the vibes that she resells the body scrubs which I believe it’s rude to assume what customers do with the products they purchase. When it was my turn to check out, they were still talking about my mom and I decided to say something while holding back tears. The worker just said “oh ok” like they weren’t just talking bad about her. I know it’s not a big deal but this experience really hurt me I just hope that those workers will learn respect customers and don’t make assumptions about them .

First time getting my eyebrows laminated and Andrew did an amazing job! He explained each step he took and I was a little skeptical at first but you really have to trust the process! He did an amazing job, in love with my eyebrows and will definitely be back for his services ?

Terrible customer service. Just a bunch of girls talking at the counter not helping anyone. One of the big blonde worker following people but not asking for help. Don't worry no one wants to take your guys's half opened stuff in your empty store not coming back. Management should really be on their employees more such an unprofessional store.

Damaris did a wonderful job with my hair and makeup. I requested Curling Hair Styling and Everyday Makeup Application. I wore my dress, so that she could apply matching eye shadow. I realized that blending blue isn’t an easy task, but she knew what she was doing! The cherry on top was that Damaris and I held a memorable conversation during our the appointment. I appreciate how open she was to sharing stories!
