They only gave those served at the Santa Clara citadel 2 days to turn in paperwork for their back to school shopping spree at old navy. They informed me of what documents were needed in a Tuesday and said they only open to take the documents on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-4pm. Since I was informed on Tuesday I was ready to turn in the paperwork the next Thursday and they were already saying they could not help anymore. I think they just gave the shopping sprees to their own friends and families. Thursday's the Santa Clara location opens their pantry from 1-3pm so either way this shopping spree was set up so those being served by the Santa Clara citadel was at a disadvantage. The San Jose Salvation Army on 4th street also gives out spoiled milk and rotten veggies. Whoever runs the 4th street location of the Salvation Army has lots of improvements to work on. Yuck, yuck, yuck!

DON'T DONATE TO THIS PLACE. HERE IS WHYI met someone that was not staying there. But this person needed an address to get a job. So this person did used this church's addressWeeks later this person went to pick some very important mail. Guess what. This church returned this person's Mail . Because this person was not a member or resident of salvation army church. Therefore returned all mail from that person. Including very important Mail about medical issues. So there you go. They will take your money. but will not take someone's mail as to help that person to get on his or her feet. they will put your mail in the garbage or just return to where it came from. If you don't leave here .we won't accept letters mailed to you. We only take your money even though you don't leave here. But other than that . Don't use our mail address.SO IF YOU WANT TO DONATE MONEY. OR WHATEVER GO TO CATHOLIC CHARITIES. 192 SAN FERNANDO ST SAN JOSE CA. THEY LET MAILMAN DROP ANYONE'S MAIL THERE ARE PEOPLE BTHAT DONT HAVE A PLACE TO STAY. THEREFORE NO ADDRESS AND THESE HOMELESS PEOPLE NEED A MAILING ADDRESS TO RECIEVE THEIR MAIL FROM DOCTOR. HOSPITAL APPOINTMENT. AS WELL TO GET A JOB. BUT SALVATION ARMY DOESN'T CARE. THEY WITLL SEND BACK YOUR MAIL. BUT WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY. NOW YOU KNOW

They might as well close the gates permanently. Why bother when this place is empty and no one is answering the phone?

In regards to the available products, I was always told that salvation army had more furniture and trinkets instead of clothes. This specific location seems to have a large section set for furniture, however the remaining non clothing section is not as large as I expected. If you are looking for trinkets and toys, pass on this location
