I bought a 100.00 Amazon card at this store When I tryed to redeem it, I notice that 4 of the numbers and the tape that cover this numbers were missing and of course the card did not work I Went to the store and couple of workers said, that I have to contact Amazon to get my money back I went to customer service and they did a refund request, maybe I can get my money back, He said, it could take 1 or 2 weeks to contact me back I went and grab another Amazon Card and it was the same, I noticed some of the cards were litte open at the edges, showed the second card to customer service but said they cant do nothig, that they not allowed to remove the cards from the stands Be aware of the gift card scams at this store specialy the Amazon

I like eating my breakfast at this Safeway, Starbucks is also inside. There is a Security onsite and it is usually one guard onsite. But they can't prevent the homeless people outside the entrance - they are out there begging for food or money. There are also mini stalls with individuals asking for donations.

I worked at Safeway before at the current sprouts location, I did not like how American manager told me about me getting fired for talking to a customer there. It's just that being mental is very difficult to pass and most I see that have mental disabilities are better because they are trusted. Manager (no name) didn't showed hatred, but I feel the hatred being mental. They do not look around all the time at customers all weird. Very hardships nowadays that being insulted by others especially customers just like the news that was about that half moon bay asian farmer whom was insulted and probably mocked and had to murder his coworkers that made fun of him. I do not want to work anywhere if I got the chance to but getting denied at volunteer of goodwill silver creek heartbroken. It means I'm not accepted anywhere. I learned not to come back to apply for any safeway nor goodwill nor volunteer at library because I got messed up first before I started high school. I got bullied by my sister she somehow got me scared by yelling into my face. My impression on my facial did not turn out so good, and first day of school I ran out of hope that day. And poof it being scared of other when I do not know them. no one likes to be around me, that how my breath smells too. Not enough confident about myself. I gave four star ratings so others can work for others. This is one true story about not working anywhere at a shop or department store because I could be in his shoes because of my mental diagnose from the past and seeing others who are better , normal , and not weird. 'Weird means no friends'. I gave up work long ago I knew my gossip about my hygienes will come back someday if I see my high school eventually a lot of those high school students notice how smelly I was including my time being on the basketball team in high school. I went to a wrong elementary middle and high and college. Luckily I'm still on meds to prevent me from committing a crime. My dad is like me he does not have friends. "Like father like son' kinda thing. I regret messing up and feeling frustrated at both genders.

Love safeway They open late & usually open holidays (for at least a little). This store is on the bigger side vs some other locations. - their freezer section & meat section are pretty limited compared to other places It's in a pretty good plaza as well, food, drinks, etc. - Only downside is this plaza has the largest speed bumps ever

This store has a very rude store manager , her name is " Olga" she has a bad attitude and here is the story. I went back to store after purchasing bunch of items day after . I Asked if I can return only two bags of orange only which was bad , where I end up speaking to her. She immediately walked to me with attitude without me even saying anything to her , saying " yes" ? no hello , no how can I help you ? nothing she had this look like you are bothering me, I tried to show her the bag and Said can I return this item? without seeing anything , she immedialtly told me she wont refund me because It was bought through ubereats. I tried to show her the receipts clearly showing prove of purchase but she would not take it. her excuse was how do I know you bought in this store ? well the receipts clearly said which store item was bought in ! plus orange bags had bar codes on them. I said is there anyone else I can talk to , she turned and said no and you can complain to whoever you like , I don't care! I told her you really have a bad attitude and I will contact the headquarter and she continue interrupting me saying , I don't care . As store manager you suppose to be not combative but instead be customer service oriented. Things got worst; I start walking out of store with my bag and within 10 seconds another employee start yielding and screaming in store chasing me down by exit door , calling " Sir,Sir are you stealing those items"? at this point I stopped , I said these are two bags of orange I just brought in and tried to return , by the way this employee was there when I was trying to return them. Can you imagine employee yelling at you front of other customers accusing of stealing ?

Called around 10pm prior to coming in at 6am to this Safeway, I called to ask if they carry a specific flower on the phone but he was quick to look and answer all my questions, excellent customer service. I went inside the store in morning at 6am for the flowers and some bday decorations and was greeted by friendly staff. Victoria specifically helped me today in picking out decorations and rung me up. She was incredibly attentive, friendly and just all around amazing!

Out of all the Safeways in the San Jose area; interestingly they turned the most populated grocery into a prison complex with newly upgraded security guards, upgraded cameras and sensor gates! Detergent, cleaning products and even coffee now is locked up safely from greedy consumers! It was bad enough before the “upgrade”. Now this grocery store is a mess to get through and is a one-exit store to cause even worse traffic. Thank goodness for finances going directly to security instead of making the grocery an easy stroll for goods. Literally is now the worst Safeway in San Jose. Hope this helps.

This is an okay grocery store. Just your typical Safeway. However yesterday, I had a strange experience there. As I went there to shop in the afternoon, a man came up to me when I was heading to the milk area I saw this man before cleaning the glass doors in the cold tv dinner aisles. He gave me uncomfortable vibes. As I walked toward the milk area, he headed to me and asked for my name. He had a straight facial expression. Now, I treat everyone with respect but still keep cautious. I kept on telling him my name as he kept on mispronouncing it. He then asked for my last name....it was none of his business! He was clearly not security! I instead asked him what his name was of which he mumbled it back to me. I stopped the strange conversation with saying, "nice to meet you" and walked away. He still had a straight face and went back to cleaning glass. I found a security camera at the store and said directly to the camera that the guy in the back there made me uncomfortable. I then called my sweetie to come right into the store to be with me as I told him about the guy. So we purchase our groceries and place them in the car. My sweetie realized he forgot that on his app, he had free chicken to get so we went back in to the store. My sweetie and I purchased the free chicken and walked out of the store. This same man was outside in the front to the store and asked about our chicken and it appeared he had his hands out to take it. My sweetie just took my hand as he said 'just ignore him, let's go" as we headed back to our car. I have no idea who this guy was, if he is an actual Safeway employee or just enjoys cleaning the glass in the cold sections of the store while trying to awkwardly strike up a conversation with customers. Safeway is clearly not a bar or hangout. It is the wrong place for anyone to try to meet other people to get to know. I come to Safeway to get my groceries and do not want to meet people especially those people who give me bad vibes. I get the impression that this guy has special needs and perhaps was trying to learn how to be social. But seriously, the store manager needs to have a serious talk with him then. If this guy has a social worker, this social worker needs to give him a lesson on society norms. I do not want to have another run in with this guy next time I shop here.

I've been shopping at this Safeway location since they opened up about 10 years ago I shop here every week at least 2x per week A long time customer who has spent thousands of dollars here to feed her family! This place has gone to complete trash. Sadly today an employee approached me while I was at self checkout with my son to ask if I had intention on purchasing an item that was still sitting in my cart First of all, how disrespectful and inconsiderate. Who trains these people? Asking me like I was planning on stealing. It was a very weird and uncomfortable experience I spoke with the director and I hope they make some huge adjustments after this incident.

So, I would have given this Safeway five stars, but, I took my interactions a female manager who was working at the "customer service," desk on 9/12/2023 into consideration.However, the intent of this review is to highlight two employees at this specific Safeway in a POSITIVE way.First & foremost, in mid August 2023, I visited this particular Safeway to purchase some vegan food items that was already prepared (i.e. cooked, etc).Unfortunately, to my surprise, when I got to the refrigerated vegan area, it was all empty, not one item could be found. After chatting with two employees who were not aware what was going on with the vegan section, I requested the manager one the evening shift. First, I chatted with a male manager named Izakk who was unsure what was going on then, I requested to speak with another manager. Eventually, the second manager on the shift named Patricia came over to assist me with the issue. She too did not know why all the refrigerated vegan items were removed. After speaking with someone on the walkie talkie, they stated the vegan refrigerated area food had to be thrown out due to being spoiled when the store and San Jose area had a power outage.I informed Patricia that I was trying to purchase food that did not need to be cooked nor microwaved. She apologized for the inconvenience. I asked if the store had a microwave I could use, and Patricia went above & beyond and allowed me to utilize the microwave in their break room.Again, Patricia, thank you for accommodating me.Lastly, I would like to highlight one of Safeway's new employees named Exavier Ortega that assisted me on 9/12/2023. This gentleman truly saved the day. What I purchased was frozen and needed to be microwaved. I tried speaking with the female manager on that shift, and stated I wanted to speak with her privately. I was standing in front of Starbucks and she walked over on the opposite side of Starbucks and insisted on trying to discuss my private matter in front of others, and then asked me to walk all the way around pass checkout to the customer service desk to have my conversation already knowing there is no privacy in that area. She turned me off with her lack of customer service skills, so I politely declined and proceeded to discuss my matter with Exavier who was working at the stores Starbucks.I explained to him that what I needed to purchase needed to be microwaved. I asked if his area had one, he stated no. Then I noticed the air fryer. So, instead of asking to use the microwave in the break area again, I asked Exavier could he place my vegan food item into the air fryer after I purchased it. He was more than happy to help me. And the food turned out great. Thank you, Exavier for going above & beyond.All in all, we never know someone's situation. Being KIND is FREE! RESPECTING someone's PRIVACY is FREE!? SUGGESTION ?Safeway, like Whole Foods, I would suggest an safe, uncluttered, and visible area you can place a microwave; condiments; and eating utensils that will be dedicated to customers/employees to freely use.God bless you all.Signed, Sealed, and Delivered,Erica M. Very weird. I've been here before but it's in high security mode where it's hard to find your way out. I checked out at the interior register at the beer and wine corral as it was only register open. Tried three ways to exit the store, found an employee who told me to exit via self checkout ( maybe cashier could have told me that? ). The self checkout corral has a gate where you need to scan your receipt to leave! Heck, what if I entered and decided not to buy anything. "Shrinkage" is a growing problem, but I'll be shopping somewhere less problematic.

I can't recommend this place. My husband and brother and I were traveling through San Jose on vacation, stopped for about 15 minutes to grab some groceries for our AirBnB, we parked inside the parking lot across from a rather large security camera, which gives to you the "false sense" as a visitor of safety, since it's right there. Within 15 mins of us being in and out of the store, and despite our car being locked. We were robbed. A woman in black sedan with covered license plate and tinted windows smashed our rental car window's backseat, and took my husband and brother's personal backpacks. My husband rushed to stop them, but couldn't reach them. This all happened in front of the store in-front of a security camera. The staff didn't do much of anything at all to help us out. We had to clean up the broken glass on our own, and no staff even attempted to help us out. We called the police and they didn't come for 3 hours. We still have no resolution, despite there being a security camera, but no security around the area. As it is apparently a very unsafe place for anyone. Very very disappointed with how things were dealt with us, we lost over $3,000 worth of belongings.

This place is set up like a prison. You have a single cattle gate to enter, and another to exit. Everything is blocked off by pallets of detergent and such, creating a giant wall to funnel everyone down a single idle. There is a central cage where you have to purchase alcohol and other things. I won't be returning.Safeway, if you treat people like cattle, we won't do business with you. Sorry there is a homeless and theft problem, but find a better way to deal with it. Hire security and use force. This is ridiculous.
