Came here for the first time yesterday while coming back from downtown SJ. Older Safeway (and building) but is familiar and comfortable. Helpful staff as well. No complaints.

I live less than a mile away from this location and I still avoid it at all costs. Right when you walk in the door you are immediately hit by the foul smell of the hot food section. I swear everything in the hot food section looks so bad. Only stoners and children would look at that food and even consider eating it. The aisles are so close together at this location it makes it hard for two carts to pass without a collision. The quality of all the food (especially the premade food and the produce) is so much better at Lunardi's.

Been shopping here since we moved into Willow Glen six months ago very disappointing I came from an excellent Safeway in Livermore. This one doesn't even rate one star. Examples surly staff on stock shelves with people walking around with nothing to do. Last week we purchased items only to find out that the six dollar jar of horseradish was left on the checkout counter. We didn't get it. The manager Dan needs to tuneup the staff here start walking around during your shift to make sure that your staff are restocking shelves and lose their attitudes.

I hate how rude some of the cashiers are at this location. I understand that their job is pretty stressful and monotonous but they can try to be a little nicer so they can make everyone's day better. I am so glad their is self checkout as I love shopping at Safeway so it is unfortunate that the staff here aren't really respectful to their customers.

Had the worst experience with the cashier at this Safeway store. I believe his name was Gabriel. As he was scanning my items, he would drop them on the scale, before throwing them on the counter to be bagged, including produce. When I said something as everything was about to roll away, he was very rude to me. Also, hours after I left, I realized that he never gave me my books of stamps that I paid for. Will not be returning to this location.

I don't like going to this Safeway because I believe some of the evening cashiers (2 white mid aged ladies.) are racist. They kept racially profiling me as I was paying at the self checkout. As if I were planning on shop lifting. One of them stopped me and wrongfully accused me that I didn't scan something and I showed her the receipt and then apologized to me for the "mistake." Don't GO to this Safeway if you're not White.

This store is clean compared to some other chain stores and they run good specials from week to week, but whoever designed the layout and conducts maintenance and cleaning in their restrooms is an idiot. Having their sinks on the outside of the restrooms is a terrible idea as everyone who uses the restroom is constantly spreading germs by not being able to rid their hands of germs before exiting. I wish that was the worst thing about their restrooms but to occupy a stall for whatever purposes and not even have access to toilet paper because dispensers were not installed; makes no sense at all and further promotes the spread of bacteria.

So many different frustrations in dealing with Safeway policies. The interpretation of "sale" is one of them. The bottle says "$5 each" but apparently that means that an expensive bottle is discounted and $5 taken off. This isn't a sticker that makes any sense to the average customer.

If I could I would leave 0 stars. Overall most employees are friendly. But some of those checkers are unprofessional where you can tell they've never worked before. The guy in self check out today was too busy talking to other people with his head phones on to help me out until a lady came instead. Management should really step it up. I've also been run out with a checker wearing his hoodie up and other checker texting and ringing me up where he kissed some items of mine. Won't be coming back here again.

Well it's been a few years now and this has become "my Safeway". Vanessa, Art, Joey, Pam and Georgiana are always attentive, friendly and helpful. Just the other day a bakery product had expired and noticed when I got home. Not a problem when I spoke to Pam. Great service!

This Safeway store doesn't even deserve 1 star! Have shopped here for 1 year since I moved to this Willow Glen neighborhood and no shopping carts problem has improved but the long lines persist,as well as untrained cashiers holding up the line, untrained deli workers taking a long time asking for help to find a price sticker for a sandwich which took 10 minutes to make while having to look for mayo, which they apologize they run out of! Not to mention advertised items on sale aren't available, and if you ask for rain check, they aren't trained on how to provide one. However staff is great at hanging out with each other talking negative about shoppers, like saying:damn, darn, all decide to show up Wednesday nite" So Rude!

Been going to this store for years. Decent place to shop. Clean, friendly, fair prices and specials. BUT the produce at times is awful. Not all but some. its always buyer beware when shopping for produce at this Safeway. Actually any Safeway to be honest. Yesterday I wanted some tomatoes for sandwiches. Heirloom preferably. The organic heirloom tomatoes were disgusting. Wrinkled, squishy, way past their prime. Not a good one in the bin of about 25 or so. I decided to inform the produce manager. Once in front of the tomatoes I suggested that he toss these in the garbage and went on to ask how he could as a manager even justify having them available to sell based on their poor condition. He was friendly and agreed that they needed to be pulled. As he was pulling the tomatoes he had a look of impending doom on his face. I couldn't help but ask him if this is some kind of an issue to pull and discard rotten or old produce. His reply was also friendly but disturbing. He explained that this can cost him bonus compensation by not selling or discarding the tomatoes. Goes against the bottom line he said. I said thanks and went on my way. This is an outrageous policy if indeed true. Why would he even say such a thing? This may explain why on any given day at any California Safeway one can find poorly kept, past due, wasted, wrinkled and limp produce. This is pathetic if the policy is as stated by a Safeway manager. I doubt that anything will change at this location.

I recently went to my Safeway Pharmacy Department and was rudely serviced in a way that came off as incredibly impolite and disrespectful. I first visited the pharmacy 2 weeks earlier to pick up some medicine and they replied back saying that the expiration date for the medicine has expired, which was fine and was told to come back a few days later. Another week later passed by and I visited the pharmacy again and gave me another excuse saying that the doctor did not respond to their message about the medicines expiration date and that they need new prescription of medicine. So I waited another week (3 weeks total) and now they are telling me that I needed to call the doctor to prescribe the medicine, which is ridiculous because now they have wasted my time countless times already.

I'm cute but I'm not that cute. Its my 3rd time in this store and I'm trying to figure out what are these people staring at?? I mean, it's such an uncomfortable feeling when everyone is looking at you like your at a zoo. And the employees are sooo rude, just the other day Art was so extremely rude to me. I'm so glad I do not live around here!
