I was walking to the restroom. Two supervisors were chatting, wasting time, and blocking the way for all shoppers. I waited for them to allow me to pass. One walked away to a cashier, the other moved but snidely yelled "King!" in an insulting and demeaning manner. Supervisors seem to be mostly White male, and intolerant of minorities. They know they can get away with it.

At the Costco eyeglass service desk, you can get a fine pair of high-index progressive bifocals for $220. At Kaiser, unless you have an unusually great vision benefit, you will likely spend more than $600. The eyeglass providers normally do a fine job. If something is wrong, they will support the customer. I recommend looking for Tim, a tall, thin man whose tag says he has worked there since 2016. The place can get busy, but I have had better service at this Almaden location than at the newer location on Raleigh Road.

I have been going to this Costco location for three decades, since the opening at this location. I absolutely love Costco and will stay a loyal costumer. But I prefer not to go to this location now. Over the years I have seen the demographics change and with it came some very rude people. I have to give it to the employees who deal with such rude people climbing all over you. My three stars are for an employee who wasn't trained well at the door and couple employees who brought my daughter to tears because after she did a cart full of groceries for me, she wasn't able to buy it because I was not present. I understand the policy but this was a time I was not well. The employee at the door incident happened a couple years back and I stopped going to this location now. It was a holiday season and the exit was crowded with a huge line of people with returns as well as people wanting to exit. You would think that because you are at the head of the exit line you would have preference in choosing between the two employees waiting at the door but no. First you can't see what's happening behind you and if there were still two lines to exit with all that crowd second the employee started to correct me for cutting in front of the person behind me. How the hell is that possible if I am in front of her this whole time?! Needless to say the person behind me was fuming and proceeded to humiliate further. Wow. Anyways, the preference should be given to the person ahead of the line or not have two people with all that horrible confusion with multiple lines in that already crowded area. Hence my three stars. Ps. I don't know how the management can reply within the next second of my review being posted. Second yes my daughter was made to leave the cart full of groceries. Perhaps the employee was new and not well trained.

I really don't know how people can dislike their local Costco. It's probably the same people who stand in long lines for a free slice of cheese or for a one-ounce taste of warm vitamin water. I have a ton of faith, based on decades of consistency, in the buyers for Costco. If they have a Kirkland brand--I'm all in. I've never been disappointed by the Costco house brand. From shampoo to whiskey, to golf balls--better than expected at a fraction of the price--I tend to get excited about the Kirkland brand thinking I am getting a better product for less. Lucky tip: Start at the back before you add anything to your cart. Everything you came to Costco for is in the back. The closer to the register you are chances are you spending money you didn't plan on spending. During the fires in Santa Cruz 2020, I decided to donate water to the firefighters. When the store manager asked why I wanted that much water he cut the price in half. Allowing me to double my order and bring almost 4k lbs of water to the CalFire team. They loaded it into my truck and made it super easy for me. I will forever be a fan of Costco because of this. I know people think the portions are too large but look again. They are making more options available in smaller quantities. The parking lot can be crazy but that is not Costco's fault. That is a bad driver and/or selfish driver syndrome we are all experiencing. Be patient, be quick and be mindful of others needs Life is short. Going to Costco is Awesome.

I usually have no issues at the Almaden Costco and am in and out quickly, before the crowds. But one morning when the store was nearly empty, I opted not to do self check out and instead, stood behind two customers in line. One was just about finishing up. The other had one or two items. While I was queuing up, the cashier assistant pulled my cart past the other customer and began prematurely unloading my 12 items onto the conveyor belt. When the woman before me got to the front of the line, there was a small snafu. I think the cashier inadvertently thought a few of my items belonged to the other customer and started ringing them up as hers. When the cashier realized her mistake, the cashier glared at me. But it was not I who placed the items on the conveyor belt, it was the cashier assistant. It really should have made no difference, as that's where our items should go, separated by a checkout divider. Then apparently, the customer ahead of me did not go through with her purchase. Not sure what happened. So then it was my turn. I tried to hold up my Costco membership card, so the cashier could scan it. But she waved me on, telling me to just swipe my credit card. I said, "Wait, but you haven't scanned my membership card." She said she didn't need it. Confused, I held up my membership card and said, "How did you get my membership card number if you didn't scan it?" She dismissed me with a hand wave and another glare. So paid and stood there still confused. "What just happened?" I asked. I was worried the other customer and my transactions had had some sort of mix-up. "Go to customer service, they'll help you..." she said, dismissing me as if it were my fault. I didn't even know what happened. Was something wrong with my membership card? Did I accidentally pay for the lady in front of me? Did the lady in front of me pay for some of my items? What? The cashier offered no explanation. She was impatient and dismissive, even though it was not crowded. So I asked at customer service and they took my receipt, asked for my membership card and started manually re-entering every item I'd purchased. Still confused, I was not sure what they were doing and why. Finally, they explained to me that the cashier had rang me up under the previous customer's membership card and now they were doing a return and a re-purchase under my card. I understand how this could happen, that's sort of ok. But I am upset that the cashier DID NOT EXPLAIN anything to me. It was her oversight. She rang me up using another customer's membership card. She did not explain one single thing. She was rude, hasty, condescending, and dismissive. It was not even my mistake. All the cashier, Joette (?) should have done was to have taken the time to explain her error and to let me know that I had the option to have customer service return and then repurchase under my own card. Or she could have voided the transaction the moment she realized she was using the wrong membership card. This could have been so easy. Her mistake and her lack of clear explanation meant that I spent 25-30 minutes at customer service trying to figure out what happened. Mistakes happen, but she didn't even offer an explanation or any apology, but instead glared my way as if she thought this was somehow my fault. I did nothing wrong, just pushed my cart along. She did two wrongs: First, she used someone else's membership card to ring me up and second, she didn't own her mistake and kept silent, pushing me on to figure it out on my own, wasting my time. I would appreciate it if someone at the Almaden store could have a word with this employee (Joette?).

DO NOT purchase appliances at Costco! Here is my experience with TWO appliances this year: Appliance 1: GE Range: the delivery people removed the protective plastic film from the front of the oven before bringing it into the house. As a result, it was covered with grimy handprints. They said they had no way to remove. I tried several products after they left and couldn't get them off. I then spent two hours on the phone with Costco's concierge service and GE. Ended up having to have a GE service person come out. He had no idea why he was there, and had no idea how to remove the handprints either. Total time spent this fiasco was eight hours. Eventually I was able to mostly remove the handprints; remnants still remain. Appliance 2: GE refrigerator: The first delivery truck claimed they were unable to make it up the street. There are delivery trucks that go up and down my street all day long. The guys were just irritated because I told them to leave the protective film on the refrigerator when they brought it into the house. Second delivery attempt was today. I had to repeatedly tell the delivery guys to put on face masks. When they finally unboxed the refrigerator there were two huge dents in it...one in the front and one in the rear. I refused delivery. Total time spent on this fiasco: 10 hours (including unloading / reloading the entire contents of the old fridge/freezer twice). Bottom line: the delivery company for Costco completely sucks. I will never buy another appliance from Costco. Did I mention that Costco's delivery company is bad? Really, really, REALLY bad!

This Costco felt more crowded inside than others I've been to in the Bay Area - compounded by the fact that the food stands open to the outside instead of being fully contained on the inside. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for outdoor dining, especially since the pandemic started, but it's a first sign as to how tight and packed the interior is. Traffic was also a beast getting in. Although there are two areas for parking branching off in different directions from the warehouse, they're shared with - and closely located with - other stores at this plaza, making for a musical-chairs situation at best, and road rage at the worst. Since this is San Jose, there's a disproportionately large representation of minivans here, many of which drive aggressively in order to c**kblock off from that last parking space - instead of driving 15 miles an hour slower than everyone else and just simply being in the way like most. Inside is no different - prepare to find folks stuffing their carts up to the rafters and then aggressively cutting you off and slowing down at the registers, knowing that they'll take forever to check out and c**kblock your comparatively quick 6 items. Meh. But this is Costco, which rewards excessive consumption like this. And don't be surprised to see all the un-classy behavior that comes with the immediate territory.

I don't usually like coming to his location but my Grandma needed some items and it's close to her house. All in all we had a good shopping experience, although they were out of the two items we came in for, of course! I'm really writing this review based on the service at the checkout. I really didn't like the way the woman at the checkout spoke to me regarding how to pay for items. We pull into the line and wait for our turn to put our items on the counter. I grab a separater and placed my card on it, not thinking because I'm trying to help my elderly Grandmother that we shouldn't do this, were supposed to show them through the plexiglass for them to scan, my mistake. But I didn't like the way to woman spoke to be about it, schooling me with attitude instead of nicely saying"next time just show us and we'll scan it, we don't accept them this way." The cherry on top was one of my Grandma's items was scanned on my bill and I politely said oh sorry that's my Grandma's, were two separate transactions. This was all to much for the lady, she got flustered and made sure I knew it was a big deal to remove it from my bill, it was literally just scanned as the first item before she could scan the rest of mine. She then again had to school me that I should have told her ahead of time. Yes this is true, but this was the moment I had the opportunity to, I didn't have a chance while helping my Grandmother load her items and also listening you school me about the issue of the placement of my card. I do not like the way I was spoken to, I'm a pretty chill and understanding person and it takes a lot to make me upset. If I can help it, I'm never coming back to this location.

As a lot of us may feel, Costco can be a hassle. I've had a good experience here so far and the staff are friendly for the most part. They have moved things around but I feel it's a good change. I will continue to be a customer at this location.

I love Costco so much! We save money by buying in bulk for household items. They don't seem to have toilet paper ever since the beginning of covid but everything else is always stocked. We regularly buy paper plates, paper towels, baking soda and we used to buy diapers too. I really like shopping for chicken here since you can just put whatever you're not going to use right away in the freezer, though that applies to any meat here really. The fruit is always ripe- the green grapes are the best!! We recently got a 'check' In the mail from Costco to be used here too and our toddler got a hold of it! She chewed the corners, it looked unusable but one of the employees here at the self check out (we didn't know you can't use checks at the self checkout) rang us up at a different station and we were able to use it! I didn't get his name unfortunately but I was holding my breath until we finished the transaction lol

Horrendous Customer Service. Baffles me how a mega retailer/wholesaler is always short on staff and painfully long lines. Absolutely zero interest in improving the customer experience. Very low usage of modern tech.

This Costco it's my regular go to unless I need to get gas. I've had many excellent experiences here & definitely in the optical department with Jerry! I wouldn't have anyone else unless I don't have the option to for adjusting my glasses & his customers service. Yes I've been to other Costco stores and good service to. But at this location I've has above and beyond service from the friends staff.

Maybe the self machine is fraud. Like voting??? Hmm. All is good expect workers. Oh no! You yell at me, I will yell you back like all the Karens.. Watch me.

This is the closest Costco Warehouse to me. It is OK but I start to envy newer locations which tend to stock more products, and sell gas. A remodel of this location would be great and bring the warehouse up a notch if it was a little expanded so they can stock additional items and in a little more quantity, so I can keep shopping at this location rather than travel further to the newer or larger ones.
