They are scam artists, I went there because my head lights wasn’t working, they messed up my right head light and when I told them about they said ohhh we didn’t touch that and I asked them how did u know which one was bad, he refuse to answer, later I figured out, they didn’t change any lightbulb just changed fuses.

My gf went to these people to get hustled multiple times till she finally realized what was going on. She went in for a check engine light which they said was an ABS failure and charged her 1700 to fix it. 4 months later the light came on and now they said it's the EVAP system that needs repaired and quoted 1700 for the repairs yet again along with charging 110 for inspection both times. We contacted a second mechanic who quoted us 500 for the repair but wasnt even sure if that was the problem. This is similar to other reviews they have had where they tend to take advantage of kind people that are not handy with the car. Please be careful believing what they say and leaving your car. Get a second opinion.

Unfortunately these people attempted to scam my mom.
We came in with a Ford Fusion that had a CEL and needed a service at 105k. They attempted to diagnose the CEL and did the 105k service. They said the CEL was not urgent and so we pickup the car up and we’re planning to fix that later, however, once the car was picked up the gas cap no longer opened.
This car has an electric release for the gas cap so it’s not manual; this means there is no way to open it without the electrical system working (if the backup in the trunk fails like ours did). So we took it back and they told me it was a relay in the fuse box that was part of the fuse box that required the entire fuse box to be replaced (1000$).
Apart from this not making sense from a technical standpoint, the part was only 300$ and honestly doesn’t take more than an a couple hours to replace so that price was simply to gouge. Additionally, after my mom was hesitant, I went to check on the car to find that it was just the fuse for the gas cap solenoid that popped and all it needed was a 10$ fuse.
After this, we took the car to the Ford dealer to have the CEL re-evaluated and they gave us real information on what exactly was wrong instead of the vague, incomplete messaging of Alamaden Auto Repair. As it turns out, their CEL evaluation was wrong too (I had questioned this as well as my scanner showed up with something different than they said).
EDIT: I had to edit this with an update as not only did they try and scam my mom as outlined below, they didn’t even do the 100k service correctly. Just a few days ago the coolant drain plug on the radiator began leaking because they over tightened it and snapped the o-ring. This shop is unethical and incompetent and I would advise going elsewhere.
I cannot say for certain that this was malicious, but if it wasn’t then the level of incompetence to not check the fuse might be scarier.
Either way I would steer clear. These guys are not honest and not looking to help you out.

Was looking up a place to get my oil changed because I haven’t had time to do it myself. Search around and Almaden auto repair got back to me fast with a price and appt time. Came in the lobby, filled out a quick form, and just hung out in the lobby for about 30 minutes. This place is nice and clean with classical music playing in the background which was relaxing. I’ve been here like ten years ago once so I decided to come back. I recommend this place because it’s organized, well managed, and just listening to the employees interacting with each other and customers, you can tell they’re very professional. Bringing in your car for anything can be daunting because you hope for the best and fear for the worst but this place eases your mind.

I highly recommend Almaden Auto Repair. All the staff are extremely friendly and courteous. As someone who knows very little about cars, I appreciate that they take the time to explain the necessary repairs for my vehicle. If you are looking for a new repair shop for anything from a simple oil change or more extensive work, give them a call!

I've been bringing my car to this shop for oil changes and repairs for approximately two years. Following my recent concern, the management addressed it effectively and resolved the issue. I'm pleased to continue relying on this shop for my car service, trusting them to provide excellent service.

i was searching for a reliable service shop to have a brake job for my vehicle. I had several inquiries from Yelp for the job. when I contacted Almaden Auto Repair (AAR), I was asked to bring my vehicle in for an inspection as what needs to be done. When I brought my vehicle in the next day at 9am, they immediately worked on inspecting my vehicle. After completing the inspection, I was quoted with replacing the front rotors/brake pads. I felt like that they were very efficient with good customer satisfaction and knowledgeable in what is needed. The next day, when I brought my vehicle in for the repair at 10am, they said that it would take about 2 1/2 hours, so I waited. They didn't waste no time and started the work immediately. I can't be more satisfied with their quality of work, efficiently completed work on time, and very reasonably priced. I've taken my other vehicle (BMW) to a dealership for services, but AAR have no doubt provided more professional care and customer service. I would highly recommend AAR for any other car services.

Glad I found this place for my older car, and glad the reviews here were legit! I had to get my oil leak checked after Jiffy Lube did an oil change and they weren't sure how to diagnose my car. I came here and found out later that Thai is indeed a busy owner but really takes his time with customers and really respects his clients. He checked my car a few times and each time it had a newer issue but they were able to diagnose it and give a fair price. They replaced my battery, cleaned the oil leak, found the smoke problem and remembered me each time. They did an honest and great job in my opinion especially since I have a 20 year old car. I was able to drive this car through multiple states and several cities over the span of 3 days, taking breaks after a few hours and the car never showed a single sign of distress, not to mention it rained the entire time in all the states!

IWe have been taking our cars to Thai at Almaden Auto since 2009. I had a head gasket issue with my 1995 Honda Civic. The dealership told me it would cost about $4,000 to fix it! I asked friends if they had any mechanic recommendations... Thank goodness I asked, that's how I found Almaden Auto! If I remember correctly, Thai quoted me $1200, and charged me less when all was done. I've been faithfully going back ever since. We have brought our Toyota Rav, our electric VW Golf, our Kia...and always been pleased with the professionalism, the very fair prices, the prompt service, the communication about progress of work and estimated cost has always been fair and accurate. I wouldn't go anywhere else! For oil changes, maintenance and big jobs too...
