this place is great, unique selection and prices that aren't insane (they are high, but the quality is unparalleled!)however, i wish they left the Romeo notebooks in the plastic sleeves .. almost every notebook has surface abrasions from the rings, and marks from grubby patrons who have to touch everything. seems petty, but the notebooks are $35 and meant for desks, so leaving them in the sheath makes sense.

Top Drawer has a new customer for life!! I needed a gift for someone I don't know very well and Google led me to this wonderfully unique store. The staff is attentive, friendly, and extremely helpful. I purchased a small, photo album that was surprisingly affordable at just under $20. I thought the clerk took the album to the back to find a gift bag. Instead of a gift bag he returned with a beautifully wrapped gift! Top Drawer, thank you for making me feel so special!

During my topdrawer visit, I stated a pretty forward request: I wanted to find a high-quality paper notebook along with a technical pencil that had a darker lead shade. Needless to say, I was more than willing to pay premium. I was disappointed to discover that both the notebook and pencil lead refills were the opposite of what I wanted. Both were store associate's recommendation. The paper in the notebook has a glossy texture that makes it unsuitable for writing with pencils or pens. In fact, one of my technical pens couldn't even produce any writing on the notebook.

Great selection, bought a lighter from them. Unfortunately it stopped working the first day. Brought it back and they replaced it no questions asked. Staff is very helpful.

Visited here while exploring Mission with my family. Nice store with a great collection of notebooks and pens. Chris is very nice and helped us pick out a nice pen/notebook and gave us some good suggestions for our visit to SF.

Love the curation and consistently thoughtful and welcoming customer service in this shop. They carry and present a lot of high quality brands with a lot of love, and I love picking up pens from Kaweco from here, bottles from Kinto, and their house slippers make a great gift. I’m really glad this shop is on Valencia, and hope others can discover them too.

I like this place alot and have been coming here for the past twi years to get my yearly journal. Staff is always friendly and quality of the journals are the best. It is a but pricy, but the quality makes up for it!

A lovely store with great finds for the everyday commuter. They’ve got bags, pouches, travel cutlery to aid you on your crusade for sustainability - all amidst fine pens, pencils, paper and furry slippers. Definitely worth dropping in for a browse as I ended up with a few purchases. I’m most proud of my topologie bag which features a sneaky expandable bottle compartment in a very slim profile. Zayne who was attending the store was very friendly and described the quirks of each product very well.
