“I’m SO happy I joined this gym! Even more happy with my results training with Zach!After going to Fitness SF Castro for 5+ years, I finally got fed up with it basically being a kink bathhouse. I want to workout with other fitness people, who are there to improve their health and physique. That’s exactly what you’ll find at Live Fit Castro.The equipment is all new! I really wish they remodeled the downstairs, moved the locker rooms down, so we had more training space upstairs, but nonetheless it is better than the previous 24 Hour Fitness.For the most part, it’s lightly used still! So no waiting or crowds etc.I train with Zach Bond. I’ve had 5+ trainers in my life, he is without a doubt my favorite I’ve ever had not to mention I’ve never seen results like this before! I’ve gained 12 pounds in two months! Muscle of course! I’m so motivated again and on days I’m working out with him I’m even excited!My only recommendations would be turn down the music please! It’s blasting in some areas, most people want to listen to their own music, but it’s so loud that you can hear it through noise canceling headphones. I also hate the booty building machine, it’s so awkward compared to all the others I’ve used.The staff are all so wonderful! They always greet you with a smile and even remember your name!I’ve also worked out at Live Fit Valencia, Cole Valley, and Fairmont. Fairmont is great because it has a steam room and sauna.”

“Love this orange theory location! The coaches are amazing!! Especially Molly and Cheyenne! As someone that didn’t previously enjoy working out and wouldn’t do any program/workout more than 3 weeks, orange theory has really changed that for me! I look forward to coming in and having an amazing workout! Molly and Cheyenne make the workout so fun while also pushing me to my best in a kind manner. I also appreciate that they assist me in my form and will correct anything that make not be right.I believe due to covid, class times have changed. So the only suggestion or request I would have is for later class times on the weekend (such as 11-1) and weekdays. As a nurse, I work until 7:30 pm and my co-workers have expressed interest in attending classes with me but were unable to as the last class is at 6:30 pm.Couldn’t recommend this location and it’s staff more! Everyone is so kind and sweet!”

“Dropped into Crossfit SOMA this morning and worked out with the 6:30am crew and Coach Kevin. I was so glad to find that the class was structured and Kevin provided guidance on movements throughout. I will definitely drop in here again if I am back in SF!”

“I had moved to a new neighborhood in San Francisco, and I had been feeling that my workout routine had plateaued. I usually had tried to work out with runs, functional strength training, and ad-hoc Fitness+ workouts.I just felt like I was no longer progressing.I found Tribe through their 6 week challenge, and was able go from 17% Body Fat to 15% body fat while increasing muscle mass. It was great to see that with less amount of total exercise time, with more intensity, as well as focus on lower body, upper body, and functional workouts, that I was seeing more progress. I highly recommend classes with Billy. He's definitely my favorite trainer, and is always focused on pushing you in every class, as well as ensuring proper form.I recently ran the Golden Gate Half Marathon and broke a personal record on miles per minute (8 minute mile). I was impressed to see that strength and conditioning workouts that Tribe was providing was helping me with my running more than running more would have.”

“It’s hard to find the proper words to describe something that is both so genuine and empowering, and simultaneously challenging. In my earlier days, I used to run marathons and row on my college team. Despite that background, I’ve never felt stronger from running and rowing than I do presently. This is 1000% contributed to the magic that is Orangetheory. Learning how to continuously work out according to my heart rate, and doing a variety of endurance, power, and strength training is what keeps me going back every morning. Additionally, the energy and joy that Courtney greets you with when you walk through the door is akin to seeing your best friend every morning. And last, but not in the very least - Coach Jordan is someone that inspires all his members to not only “empty the tank” each session during which time something magical happens, but his carefully orchestrated playlists make you want to dance the whole time in addition to working out!”

“After six years of trying out a half dozen private and big box gyms, and several strength-based group classes like F45 and Barry's, I can say without hesitation that the hype around Flagship is warranted. I saw my confidence and overall fitness soar over just five months of regular attendance. Kudos to the Flagship team for building such a fun, friendly, and inclusive space (their claim about having the friendliest coaches is true).It's also true that it's the most expensive fitness membership I've ever held, and Flagship's excellent coaches — Jon, Zach, Nikki, and Anaïs — and flexible memberships team have made it an *investment* worth every penny for me. Facilities are clean and well-maintained; personalized attention and safety has been central to every class I've attended.Dog-lovers would be well-advised to take Zach's morning classes, who also has impeccable class music selections :)”

“I am obsessed with this adorable, boutique gym in the heart of the Castro. I typically have an adverse reaction when I think about gyms -- I envision vignettes of chest-pounding masculinity and superfluous bravado oozing from every corner. It really is intimidating and unapproachable. However, MX3 is the exact opposite -- it's welcoming, warm and encouraging. I've been seeing Will Soule for personal training sessions since last October and I cannot stop raving about what an awesome trainer he is and how incredible the results have been. I am a die-hard Pilates gal who generally dislikes all things Cardio. However, Will has introduced me to the most creative and sneaky cardio moves, making me actually seek his heart-rate spiking sessions to complement my slow-twitch Pilates workouts. He's also a stickler on form correction and ensuring that you're feeling every single move in the exact right muscle -- I absolutely love that attention to detail. But last and most importantly, he's got the most fun personality and transforms the boring chore of working out into an activity that you truly look forward to. I feel 10x stronger and more confident than when I started with Will & MX3! So if you're thinking about exploring a new gym or a new personal trainer, look no further than MX3 and Will Soule! “June - 2023My husband and I take partner training sessions with Max. Our three children paid for our first series of sessions, and we have continued ever since. I think I accurately speak for my husband when I say that taking the partner training sessions with Max A. is one of the best decisions we have made. It's not always easy to get started, but so worth the effort.Although, my husband and I walk every day, we need to add in strengthening and more cardio. Max is very attentive and tuned into our strengths and weaknesses while working with both of us to improve core strength, coordination, balance, heart fitness and large muscle strength.Highest marks for Raise the Bar Fitness, especially our trainer, Max.August 2023Just an addition to my previous review. I just had an annual physical and my total cholesterol and LDL dropped by 20 and 30 points respectively. While I am very cautious with my diet and have almost eliminated red meat, I also attribute this change to my work outs with Max and Daniel at Raise the Bar Fitness. In addition, my recovery heart rate is much faster than when I started at Raise the Bar. Thanks Max and Daniel!”

However every interaction I had with the staff was great and Tiala, the manager, is very friendly and helpful. I recommend this neighborhood gym for all levels of fitness.”

“I love the classes and I think the whole protein shake thing is genius but the expenses are just too much! You have to take like 30 classes a month to make it any cheaper and paying almost 40$ each class is not in my price range”

“I've been going here since October, and it's one of the best value gyms in the city (by far!). Where else can you find a sub $50/month gym with a bunch of squat racks, machines, weights, etc? I'd definitely consider it the quintessential neighborhood gym. Quite literally has all of the equipment needed for a new comer, yet also satiates the seasoned gym-goer with its 10+ bench and squat racks. Dumbbells go pretty high in weight too. The equipment itself is a bit old/dated, but still entirely functional (remember the price you're paying). There are two floors, the bottom/main one with a bunch of machines, 5 treadmills, bikes, bench/squat racks, etc and the top floor with more cardio machines, a stretching area, punching bag, 4 more bench/squat racks, pull up bars outside, rowing machines, etc. People are truly super nice and approachable. They normally wipe down equipment after using it, and can help you with a spot if needed Highly recommend this gym!”

“I love this place. I started going to Uforia a year ago and I see great results. I've never taken a class I haven't liked. Spinning classes are challenging and fun. The music cannot be better. It feels like a party every time. Dance is out of this world. Great choreos, great music, great instructors.”

“I have been a client of Coach Charlie's for over 3 years now. I've done his group classes and also been a private training client. Charlie is a certified pre and post natal trainer. I attended his group fitness classes up until I was 8 months pregnant and Charlie was able to tailor the class so that I could continue to participate. Maintaining my fitness and strength while pregnant helped me to feel great throughout my pregnancy and made my recovery that much easier. I also started personal training with Charlie 8 weeks post partum. Charlie helped me build up my core from scratch and get me back to burpees and running by the end of my maternity leave. Charlie tailors his workouts to target the areas that women need to work on in order to maintain strength and mobility. I feel so lucky to have found Charlie and the group of amazing women, whom I call friends. Working out with Charlie is not just a good health habit, but the foundation to enable me to have a full and active life for all the years to come. Thanks Charlie!!”

“What a wonderful space to work with your personal trainer. Esthetically, it's beautiful with mirrored walls and the perfect blue paint and cushioned floor. But the exercise equipment is the real plus: all new and almost excessive in it's variety. An absolutely perfect space to spend an hour with your trainer. Lots of free parking in the adjacent Safeway parking lot. I been around a long time and haven't experienced any gym that comes close.”
