I am usually not posting, but the situation I have been involved into is terrible. I wish it happen to no one else.
I opened my account there a month ago, arriving in the US with all the documents and with a temporary address. I had to provide them with a permanent address at some point, but without any deadline.
A month after, I discovered my account has been closed. Without any notice or any phone call or emails during this timeline asking me to provide something. And I have NEVER received a phone call, or an email stating I may have my account closed because of that. And certainly not in a short notice.
This is not a way to deal with your customer, communication is key and this bank sucked at it. Considering the rigor they had for dealing with that situation, I cannot imagine how they may be dealing with other topics.
I am not recommending BMO at all. I have nothing to say about this location in particular, but I guess they could have avoided this situation that puts me in a real difficulty right now..

The ATM restarted while I was making a deposit, it kept my deposit without a receipt. It's been a full week and I've not heard from a banker nor the branch manager. They don't answer the phone or return phone calls either.

Terrible for online banking. Opened a CD online. They accepted and processed a deposit electronically right away...when the CD matured, the online system would not allow me to withdraw my money electronically. They mailed me a check (on line banking switching to paper check conveniently?). Called customer service and after a very long time being on hold they could only tell me that the account is closed and I would receive the check in 10 business days. I got the check in the mail 12 days after I requested the funds.

One of the star banks I've ever wirked with. Bought an RV trailer and BMO trued to charge me late charge when they never mailed payment book. And we've been in time and early on all payments. They list april 2024 payment and wanted to force us to pay late fee. They said call this number they will waive fee. We called that number and it was like talking to a clueless person. They finally documented the late fee and waived it but took 35 minutes to handle a two minute problem.

The owner of this establishment is highly temperamental, incompetent, and simply not trustworthy. He did not hesitate to boast about his position as the “owner of the building” over a small traffic misunderstanding. Very immature and unprofessional.

You HAVE to give one star. BMO deserves negatives. Stay away from this bank. My issues were with the main branch in downtown San Diego, although the teller at the La Jolla branch seemed just as incompetent as the rest. Incompetent isn't a word I want to use when discussing anything banking-related but BMO gives you lots of opportunities. I truly wish I had done my research. I currently bank with BMO, but once they finally credit me for the cash deposit I made at one of their ATMs, in the front of one of their branches, I'm closing my account. Did you know they don't own/service their ATMS? Which is why I've been waiting two weeks for access to my own money. There was a malfunction with the ATM during my deposit, the CASH wasn't credited NOR was it returned. I've been getting the run around since March 9th. Everyone I've spoken to had a different answer, 2-5 business days, 7-10...now I'm looking at 45 days. It got so bad I started recording my phone calls with them for my protection because I was consistently being given conflicting information. Honestly, you're better off hiding your money under a mattress. Tami from the conflict resolution team GUARANTEED me my claim hadn't been filed only to find the information after doing some actual research, Jamil/ Jamaar from the resolutions department is the epitome of "I couldn't care less, I'm here to collect a check". That's exactly the type of person you want dealing with your money. Right?!? Horrible company, horrible business practices. This bank is predatory, bottom line.

This 5 star review is for Omar specifically.He’s great, really cares about his business customers.But BMO as a whole sucks, not as bad as BofA or WF, but pretty close.

Absolutely pathetic customer service. They are a predatory bank. Can't get anyone on the phone and the branches have no staff. Ridiculous fees and convenient accounting. STAY CLEAR OF THESE BANDITS.

I really recommend to visit this branch and the bank manager was very very good…they helped me after closing hours…she is a star…i love her
