Dear Yolanda, I went into our pharmacy here at Western University today with a heavy heart knowing the one and only person who has always treated my family with so much genuine care & respect no longer works there. It is a real shame businesses tend to do away with exceptional employees whom choose to go over and beyond. It wasn't only us, I often heard doctors walk in as we waited for our medications to speak with Yolanda and ask her for advice & recommendations on medications. I went in today and there was no consult, to warm hello how is the family, just had medications handed to me and paid. Truthfully Yolanda is the only reason we had decided to stay and keep our doctors at Western University. If this was a review for her it would be 5 STARS, but now it's just average.

I went in today to get last minute vaccines for my new job. They took me in without an appointment. The receptionist (?) was super sweet and helpful. The pharmacist Maria was amazing! She was very gentle and described the whole process and reiterated while she gave me my vaccines. She was very thorough in explaining the vaccination process and handled my paperwork outstandingly. Would definitely come back!

I started going to the dental school in 2012, I got assigned to Team practice and I have had adequate care. It does help if you have at least some knowledge of how health care systems work. It can be hard at times for existing patients to get an appointment and talk to a live person when you call the existing patient line. I have never had success getting an appointment using the existing patient line. Other members of my family have also been using the dental center and receiving good care. To get care completed takes awhile so you do need to be patient and not in a hurry. The one downfall to the center is that you are assigned to a student group and usually to a particular student until they graduate. If you have difficulties with your assigned student it is like pulling teeth to get your assigned student changed. My son was assigned to a student he had trouble understanding due to a heavy accent so he did not feel comfortable with them but he was unable to change providers. Hopefully his treatment gets done quickly so he can be done for awhile.

Know how you're supposed to see the dentist every six months? Yeah, well I missed a few of those appointments... 76 of them, to be exact. And after 38 years of neglect, my mouth was a mess. I tried going to a dentist recommended by a friend. After a thorough exam, they put together a treatment plan with an estimated cost of ~$36,000. There was no way I could afford that. Then someone suggested I try Western University of Health Science's Dental Center. That suggestion changed my life. I was vaguely familiar with Western from years ago when (as the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific) they began buying up vacant storefronts on the old Pomona Mall. Over the years they have grown and added programs such as pharmacy, optometry, nursing and the subject of this review, Dentistry. Let me point out that this is not a solution for someone in a hurry. This is a dental school; the work is done by students. As such, they do things by the book - no shortcuts. And each exam and treatment choice is reviewed in person by a faculty member. This adds additional time to the process, but you also benefit from a built-in second opinion. The facilities and equipment are state-of-the-art. Everyone I have dealt with over the last 2+ years I have been going there - the students, faculty, and the administrative staff - have been highly professional, patient, and kind. They have gotten me through extractions, fillings, multiple cleanings and the new world of a partial lower denture. I can smile without embarrassment and eat whatever I want, all for an out-of-pocket cost less than one-tenth of the original estimate I received from the private practice dentist. And when my puppy got hold of my denture and chewed it up, they were able to see me the next day, and I got my repaired denture back within 24 hours. I recommend Western U Dental Center without reservation.

Receptionists are so extremely rude. I go to all other health departments so I have a good understanding of how the school run health departments work. I inquired for an appointment and asked what would happen during 1st and 2nd visits, so on.. this woman told me she doesn't go there for her cleanings so she has no idea! Kept saying 'screenings' happen during every visit. I asked a scenario say I just need a cleaning no cavities.. will I come in for a cleaning on which visit? She replied she explained it to me already and she is not going to explain again. Repeatedly told me I am not understanding her and she has explained it to me over and over again. Made me feel like I am wasting her time. The other departments are absolutely amazing which made me want to switch entirely to Western University for my health needs. Absolutely dumbfounded of how rude these receptionists are!!

Words can't express how truly amazing this patient care center is. Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Hubbard were so wonderful with my daughter. The time they took to make sure she was comfortable and understood what was gonna happen was great. The office staff to the nurses and doctors was exceptional!! I wish more doctors were like these two doctors. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

If you're a chronic/intractable pain patient, avoid this pharmacy at all costs. At least 3 times per year I was told they "had to order" my monthly pain medication, so sometimes I had to wait a week or longer to get my meds; many times I would be in the pharmacy waiting 15-20 minutes just for them to tell me of the supposed med shortage, and there were only one or two other customers waiting. Strange how that one medication of mine was the only med they were always "out of". If you are in constant pain you know how bad life can get without medication, not to mention having to go through withdrawls. Though most of the staff was polite, their skeptical looks and body language when I filled my monthly prescription told a different story. Nobody likes being stereotyped. I went to the same doctor and pharmacy for my medication every month, year after year. Above board and legal every time. On top of everything WU is a teaching pharmacy. Do we really want our future pharmacists to stigmatize people for the medications they take? I patronized WU pharmacy for years simply because of its location. I don't own a vehicle and it was too expensive (and painful) to get back and forth from another pharmacy. I'm glad I moved out of Pomona and left WU pharmacy behind me!

I came here because my doctor recommend && I do not regret coming here, the students are supervised by actual dentists. But from my experience the students actually know what they're doing & made sure I was comfortable during root canal treatment, the students are gentle and actually Care, plus this is more affordable than going to a dentist office, the visits are lengthy but only because it's a dental school & students are careful and perfecting everything being done to your teeth, I have a few upcoming visits very. Satisfied

Pretty clean and spacious. Although a few people i know who have been here ended up leaving worse after they went. Me included lol left with sensitive teeth because they put cooling gel on all my teeth for some reason to compare the pain to the sensitive tooth i had. Some dentists talked unimportant things too. But idk prepare for a long wait. I wad there for like a whole work shift lol

Don't go here. I've been waiting for 1 hour after my appointment time that is a CONSULTATION not worth it.

Had two teeth pulled and the stitches were coming out 5 min down the freeway. Drove back for my next appointment and my student showed up 40 min late when i was about to leave. She said my next appointment would be a scaling. I asked why they did not plan better. After that i was told they could not meet my expectations. I wanted a different student but i was stuck with the bad one i got. When i talked to the lady scheduling. she was condescending and rude. I found that to be the norm for this school. I was told that Susan was the director over the area. Funny she is not on the web site as a director with the other staff??? After we talked I thought i had everything straightened out.The scheduler was to call and leave a message with the next date, treatment and cost. I guess it was to hard because she left a message saying to call her. I tried to call Susan to see if there was a misunderstanding. You got it i was met by a operator that would not put my call through like she was protecting her. I told her i was needed to talk to her about the situation, She insisted i talk to the scheduler and became condescending and rude. About that time my plane was boarding so i hung up. After working for two weeks i decided i would never go back to this place. If you want bad dental work by rude and condescending people this is the place. The supporting staff and student were the problem and management did not want to do anything to make things better. Save yourself headaches and stay away..... Tracys in Los Algodones Mexico does better dental work and they do it in a few days not two years..........

I love the attention to details and all the double checking standards. I'll keep going for all my dental care and I think I'll visit the eye Dr next!
