We used to occasionally shop at Party City when it was located in Dublin, and it was always pretty good... good selection; easy to find things, and lots of manned checkout stands. However, we recently went to their relocated store in Pleasanton, and were very shocked and disappointed in this store! Firstly, and most importantly, there was almost ZERO SIGNAGE on the aisles, to help you find anything! We had to hunt around the store looking for plastic party forks, and were actually unable to find them (such a common item for a party supply store)... that is, until another shopper overheard us talking about where they might be, and came over to tell us that she had just seen them, on the opposite side of the store! We thanked her for her assistance, and she, too, shared her dismay at not being able to find the things she wanted as well... again, because of a lack of appropriate signage. Also, in our wanderings, we noticed LOTS of bare shelves and racks, which led us to believe that maybe they had just made the move there, and were still in the process of adding inventory. Of course, there was NO ONE available to assist anyone wandering around the store, because the ONLY employee we could find was the sole checker working the checkout line in the front! When we finally got up in the line to the checker, I stated to him that their lack of signage was very "unhelpful" to us as a customer, but he was totally disinterested in what I was trying to share, and actually never responded to my comment. When I then mentioned the bare shelving throughout the store, and asked if they were still in the process of moving from their old Dublin location, he said, "Uh, no, we've actually been here for a few years now". I was shocked upon hearing this, and suggested that he tell his manager that their lack of signage was not very good customer service... and again, zero response from this sole employee. Needless to say, the customer can (and should) expect better than what we experienced, for the kind of money they charge for items... but, as we can see from the multitudes of one-star reviews here, nothing is going to change there anytime soon. It is because of this that they just lost a customer... next time, we'll be shopping elsewhere!

I had a really bad experience here.I bought a lot of stuff. And 1 balloon that I also wanted to be in inflated. But I asked before time (because I'm not local) how much time it will take (1 balloon). It's a bit big balloon and expensive as well. They told me 5 minutes.I agree and went to the balloons counter. After 15 minutes of waiting, I asked when I should expect to get my balloon back. They told me it will take another 20-25 min... (And this is after the 15 min that I already waited) and they told me 5 minutes just so Ill pay for it.Never going to be back to this place! Laying just to get sales.

Worst experience . At the time purchasing costumes cashier told items can be returned in 30 days , today when we went to return the costume which is not opened and used party city cashier or store lead is not taking return saying costumes should be returned 7 days prior to Halloween. This information cashier should have told at the time of purchase. Very bad experience .

So disappointed- we paid for the birthday balloons and what we got was totally hopeless! If we want the balloons on the floor, we did them ourselves not paying 40$!

Employee said he would look for a costume I asked then left me on hold for 20 minutes. Then, I called on a separate phone to which he picked up immediately not doing anything

The ppl at the counter need to know how to say "no" to customers. There are around 50 ppl and 2 counters among 3 are held up for 15 mins.

I needed to order a dozen of these cute plastic strawberry cups for my daughter's birthday. The Party City near me did not have them in stock and the website said they could not be shipped, but this Party City in Pleasanton had them. I ordered them online and drove the 30 minutes to pick them up in store. When I arrived I noticed that the link in the email for curbside pickup didn't work, so I went inside to pick up my order. They were very quick and friendly! I also walked around the store and was amazed at how many items they had and how organized the store was. When I got home I realized one of the straws was chewed on, like someone let their kid hold onto it while they were in the store. I didn't have time to make the 30 minute drive back to Pleasanton, so I emailed the store and asked if they could ship me a straw before the birthday party. I was surprised to receive an email almost immediately from the store. Amelia said she would drive to my home and bring me a new cup - talk about amazing customer service! Amelia went above and beyond what I expected and provided excellent customer service. Although I live less than 10 minutes from another Party City, I will definitely drive the 30 minutes to this Pleasanton one due to their great stock of items and amazing customer service!

First, there is no way to tell a worker from a patron aside from what seems to be a collective sadness by what turned out to be the three workers (maybe the constant Halloween sounds bring them down?). I grabbed an item to buy, which had no tag on it but it was the last one. I pulled up the item on their website using my phone to show the price at checkout (i came specifically for this item so I knew what the price was supposed to be) and the item was $15 but they were ringing it up as $16 based on the shelf skew. I pointed out the issue, to which I got "maybe that's the online price" as the solution. I put it in the "cart" on my phone with the Dublin location chosen to show the worker it was the curbside pickup price and should be the same if I walk in the store. He still charged me the $1 extra. It would seem the workers hate being here or are grossly undervalued by there managers so they just stopped caring. They also don't seem to have the ability to provide basic customer service outside of taking money. This store needs a moral boost and training on problem solving for customers.

This woman named Sheila was extremely rude to me when all I was trying to do was buy balloons. I by no means expect 5 star service from Party City, but common courtesy isn’t too much to ask.I asked her how she was doing and received no response, she made no eye contact with me, didn’t hand me my receipt and instead threw it on the table, made me feel like I was annoying her for being there, and was irritated with me throughout the whole transaction. I think what made it apparent to me was that she was super cheery almost immediately to the person next in line. I did not appreciate this as I was cordial from the beginning and she had a bad attitude from the start. She should find another job if she treats everyone the way she treated me (it’s apparent she likes certain people more than others, if you know what I mean). This store has gone significantly downhill, but I’ll be calling corporate about her specifically.

I called this Party City location asking to put 3 items to the side because I was on my way to the store and didn't want anyone to purchase them before I got there. The associate on the phone said that "no one would come in and buy them" so they were not put to the side. When I arrived there was only one of the items left. When I asked him to check the back he walked away to check and used a profanity. The associate did not even apologize or acknowledge his mistake. I am very dissatisfied with the service I received at Party City in Pleasanton.

How is this place not shut down??!!?? The place was such a mess and the staff just didn't seem to care. I went up to the counter to ask employees a question. There were two of them all up at the registers talking to each other. (Could not find any body else working in the store). Older lady with blonde hair and a youngish girl with blue or green hair. I said excuse me twice with no response from them. I stood there for a bit before they even acknowledged me. The older lady with the blonde hair was complaining about someone who just came in. Maybe I just have basic human standards when it regards customer service but maybe talk trash about customers....when there are customers not in front of you. Like, on a break. Even crazier idea....HELP the customer standing in front of you. They didn't end up having what I needed- at least according to them. 25 minutes of my time wasted. I found what I needed at the dollar store....whom treated me very respectfully. Unlike this place. Do yourself a favor, go to a dollar store instead. There is nothing here of any redeeming quality. Including the people who work there.
