“Well stocked convenience store. Large selection of liquid to choose from along with other things I did not expect. I will go back again and check out the deli which I understand is very good from a friend who likes to eat. LOL”

“Dave, the owner, was really friendly, personable, and knows his wines. I was impressed that he looks for wines made by vintners who not only make great quality of wine but treat their workers well. This place is a hidden gem.”

“I love this little specialty grocery/deli! My “go to” is to pick up frozen dinner entrees and stock my freezer. My husband loves the food, so it’s an easy dinner solution for those nights I have no ideas (which is A LOT). Last night I put the smothered pork chops in the oven and added sides of mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, and salad. Perfect, easy, and delicious!”

“Dave always creates incredible experiences and curations. It's a deeper and subtler experience when you know the history and story of what you're drinking.”

“Quite a wide selection of alcohol. Many beers, including craft brews and lambics. They also carry mead. Plenty of wine, liquor and liqueurs. There is also a collection of single shot bottles at the register. Cigarettes, Lotto and drink glasses. There are also snack and candy isles.”

“Had a lovely wine tasting at Sierra Starr, the experience was quite fun and was everything we would want from a tasting. The location is in the heart of downtown Grass Valley and the storefront is very welcoming. The shop has a wonderfully ornate carved wooden door, and the interior has a rustic brick and wood vibe. There is not a lot of seating inside, but there were only a few people there when we stopped in, so it was quite and uncrowded. The woman working was very nice; she greeted us promptly and we picked a seat. She offered us menus and walked us through what wines they had available. She was very attentive and checked in regularly, offering suggestions or answering questions we had.We tried a selection of their wines, all of which were enjoyable. Ended up leaving with a couple of bottles, and then were able to wander downtown and check out the shops. Ultimately, even I you only vaguely like wine, Sierra Starr likely has at least one wine you would enjoy!”

“Seriously wonderful restaurant, I generally come here once a month, I would go more often if I could afford it. Compared to other sushi restaurants in the area they have a much more traditional style, which is to say they are often very light on the sauce and toppings. I highly recommend the salmon belly sashimi, it's absolutely delectable.Parking: Depending on the time of day/day of the week it can be difficult to find parking, downtown Grass Valley kind of just has that problem.”

“I love this store and the quality of produce. I'm happy to pay extra to shop here now and then. The behavior of the employees has been going downhill, though. I think a lot of it is a staffing issue... but its still not acceptable to be rude to the customers because of it, and I see that very often in the cashiers lately.”

“Raleys has staff that work very hard, recently they have been understaffed. The problem with the Raleys is not the staff or really any of the store itself but the "patrons" or "customers". These customers seem to have not attended preschool to learn basic patience and care. They never learned about the golden rule, nor do they care about those around them and what they may be dealing with. The customers at Raleys are horrendous and extremely rude to those working there SERVING THEM at a minimum wage job. If anything, Grass Valley should go back to preschool and realize we are all human, and no one wants to be yelled at or to cause others to have a hard time. GROW UP RALEYS CUSTOMERS!!! I went there to buy a drink after class and had to deal with a "grown man" crying and shuddering at missing out on a party he was going to attend that evening... it was around 5 pm. seriously.”
