“I am enjoying my time at CrossFit Crown City so far. The workouts are challenging, but they can be modified depending on one’s needs. The coaches have all been very kind, welcoming and helpful to me as a newbie. Coach Dex did an excellent job preparing me for my first class through individual sessions. Grateful to be part of the community and excited to improve my fitness as I continue to go to classes.”

“I dropped in to an 8 am class while visiting family. The website said "join for the fitness, stay for the community" which I find to be the best thing about CrossFit. The coach was super knowledgeable and led a good warm up. Everyone was super nice and supportive of each other.”

“I enrolled with Pendulum about 2 months ago and my experience from initial enrollment has been great. All of the staff are professional, responsive, and kind. The classes will work you extremely hard, but the coaches make it great. Despite being a large group, there are all different levels, from beginner to advanced. The coaches will be there to support you every step of the way. They are patient, kind, motivating, and genuinely want to see you succeed. After 2 months, my sentiment toward working out hasn’t changed (still have GREAT disdain), but I am showing up and doing the work; something I haven’t regretted. I’d highly recommend Pendulum for anyone interested in giving Cross Fit a try and has hesitations. You will be okay at Pendulum!”

“I was training with Justin over the summer and the sessions were super helpful with meeting my fitness goals. Justin is very knowledgable and made good use of the array of equipment in the facility. Excited to train in this gym again whenever I'm in the area again!”

“I go there specifically for muay thai (but they have other stuff) - the place is clean and also have weights so its 2-in-1 bonus.I love they focus on techniques, not just cardio, people are very nice, and love can do sparring.”

“Okay need to update. So I downgraded my membership and got double charges by basecamp for both my new and old levels. Called, and they said they'd fix it right up and call me back later that day. I had to call back and talk to someone, and was again assured it would be fixed and refunded. Well, here we are two weeks later....and nothing has been refunded. I had to call again today and was assured someone would fix it and call me back. They also offered to just credit my account. With the money, which normally I would be fine with, but because of how this has gone, I don't trust that it would be credited correctly...hopefully this works out today... Okay refund has finally been issued...so hopefully it's off my card soon. UPDATE: All fixed!!”

“Carina created a wonderful place to get strong and meet strong women! I signed up at the end of 2021, because of the small group training option. It’s affordable, and you can workout while maintaining a safe distance from others. Carina keeps the facility clean and sanitary. There are plenty of options in terms of equipment to cater to your training needs. Carina will adjust your workout based on your preferences, abilities, and injuries. I noticed a significant difference in my strength, endurance, and overall health. Carina and the (predominantly) women here are friendly, caring, and supportive. This is a great place to go whether you’re a strong athlete or just starting your fitness journey.”

“Huge fan of this small studio, the energy the teachers bring is exactly what one needs at 7 in the morning and it's such a lovely way to start the day. The workouts are challenging but not overwhelming and they each take the amount of time that one feels sufficiently worked-out without over-extending. Really love this place :)”

“I have been going to UFB for over 10 years. I love that I know I can show up every morning and I will get a good workout in to start my day. I like the small class structure with a trainer guiding me through my workout. The weekly schedule offers a variety of workouts from cardio to strength training. Trainers are attentive and encouraging. My favorite thing is the amazing community in the gym that uplifts and inspires each other. The different class times that are offered make it convenient to go when you can each day. Would definitely recommend UFB to anyone!”

“Omigosh, there are no words for how much I LOVE THIS GYM. If I get too far into it, I'll get overly emotional. This is one of those magical places where you FEEL the love from everybody, whether it's the employees or the members. Everyone you interact with is genuinely supportive and it just makes SUCH a difference. The trainers know their stuff, and know when to really push you (in the most encouraging way). The members are friendly and helpful, none of this judging or competitive nonsense. The class format keeps you engaged, so that an hour of boot camp absolutely flies by, and the next thing you know, you're high five-ing the trainer and heading home, most likely having hit a personal milestone. I'm so grateful that I live near this gym, but even if I didn't, I'd still make the trek, it's just that great!”

“Finally, I find the thing! Okay, so I love group fitness classes, as I would rather die than roll around alone sweating on my living room carpet, therefore multiple pounds of Covid weight have been adorning my frame, and did I mention the baby that I had during lockdown? After the dust settled, I ventured out to Core Power Yoga, which mysteriously did nothing for my body after daily sessions for months (it could absolutely be my total lack of energy in a sauna, not blaming the place). I tried in vain to rejoin my old Zumba studios, which had closed, and I did do some Pop Physique, which I love, but was very aware of the lack of cardio and strength in my life...I walked past those stressful looking cross fit barn places with men lifting heavy things and grunting and knew in my soul that I needed it, but would never, ever, do it. Running from station to station crazily in a circuit is a step too far. Then I walked by SPENGA. I am now maybe twenty classes in, and it's time to review. I really, really love it! Basically, as everyone has said below, doing something for 20 minutes makes you give it your best shot. I don't like spinning for an hour, but I sure like 20 minutes of trying to hit the zones on the screen to music. It's in dim lights which is awesome, you can make crazy faces, and no one sees. Took me a minute to figure out that I should up the resistance on the bike to hit the mythical 'sweet spot' but I've figured that out now. I really like the strength part... you walk over to your own POD with all the stuff and you DO NOT HAVE TO walk wildly around a room, you just stand there, and there's an instructor AND videos to follow for each exercise. I am doing things I would never do, just through the shame of being watched! My arms are really toning up already. I'll have to try a bit harder for the mid section but that's on me. And I feel it coming. I can do a far bigger range of movement already...Then you go to the yoga mat. You do a reasonable flow for ten minutes and then some nice twists, and chavasana. It's an opportunity to work out any body kinks during that section, as no one is hassling you to follow along exactly if you find a body spot you want to keep stretching.I emerge feeling very exercised, but not exhausted, with at least an hour of active fitbit minutes, when power yoga sometimes gave me about 3. The facility itself is clean, sweet smelling, has free parking and everyone's really nice and welcoming. Yep, this one's a winner!”

“AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! The Camp Pasadena is a tight knit community! Working out is always hard but their support and sense of family makes the process easier and helps you feel and stay motivated! The Camp is great for all levels! They are so accommodating! The staff is wonderful — Joey, Frances, Vanessa, and all the trainers are so helpful and kind! Would 1000% recommend The Camp Pasadena to anyone!!”

“We had our son's second birthday party here after winning a golden egg for Easter event. Our son's birthday was about two months ago....so it's long overdue! We paid for upgrades to add in pizza, juice boxes, and an extra half hour. It was such a heart warming day and honestly such low stress! I didn't have to really plan much because they think of the activities! We had about 25 kids and I got so many texts after saying what a fun party it was! Daniel and Ashley hosted our birthday and they brought the vibes and energy! Thanks for such a wonderful day and memories My Gym! Highly recommend their parties! Don't forget to tip for their hard work if you're planning on having a birthday here!”

“I love Ralph's class. Ralph is such a hardcore trainer/coach. He always pushes me to hit my maximum heart rate needed to improve and develop my fitness game. I wouldn't reach the level of where I'm at now without his motivation and training. He literally pushes me until I can't even. The class encompasses kickboxing, running, and strength training. It truly is an all body work out with a mixture of aerobic and anaerobic exercise. If you're trying to lose weight or just up your fitness level, I totally recommend Ralph's class or him as a personal trainer. He will help you reach all of your fitness goals. Also the music in his class is straight fuego. Can't wait for the next class. Thanks again!”

“When I began looking to rejoin Curves after many, many years, I found this club in Pasadena.I made an appointment to come in and have a complementary workout and see how I like the place. I must admit that the club looked dated and worn out. I was really considering leaving without joining when I met Sharon.Sharon is the new owner who took over recently after the past owner died. Sharon owns another Curves and knows how this franchise needs to be operated. She took me through my paces and got a really good sweat going. Then she told me about her plans for the club. I was still considering leaving, but something about Sharon's determined spirit convinced me to join.I have been a member since late April 2023 and Sharon has been true to her word. I don't even recognize the place because she's made so many positive changes. The place is really beautiful and she's not done yet!!!The other members are so friendly and I always get out of my workout what I put in. The staff is encouraging and always ready to help.I am so glad I decided to join this Curves. I have lost 10 pounds and several inches from all over my body since joining. Curves is still the very best gym for my success and I am so thankful it's still here and thriving!”

“If you’re looking for an excellent workout, with undoubtable results, with an excellent, intuitive, super-informed and flexible coach, in a totally unpretentious and friendly gym, then this is the place for you.Jesse oversees several people (usually between 2 and 6 people at a time) doing his intelligently and carefully designed one-hour workouts that include weight lifting of many varieties, calisthenics and cardio. How he manages to keep track of everyone’s needs (folks who are at different ages, fitness levels, etc) is beyond my comprehension but he does it easily and with aplomb.Participants range in age for their 20s up to 70s. The gym is not a ‘scene’ it is down-to-earth and folks are genuinely nice and respectful and just going their thing.I cannot recommend this class more highly. I hate working out and I always will (it’s just one of those things for me, I’m afraid!) but coming here, with all the super nice folks, and Jesse especially, and seeing and feeling the results, makes me hate it way less than ever before!”

“I love Breakthru Fit Training Studio's small group training!! Its always a great workout with lots of variety. I have always found it to be a friendly atmosphere with the right balance of challenge, support and community so you can meet your fitness goals. There are plenty of weights and equipment along with plenty of room. There's also a large outdoor patio space that is used for part of the workout. I really appreciate the opportunity to be outdoors and the variety it provides. Phil is an amazing and knowledgable trainer who always motivates you to do your best and challenge yourself. The location is super convenient, clean, bright and the parking is incredibly easy. I highly recommend Breakthru Fit Training Studio!”

“Decent gym - two stories with all the bells and whistles. I like running in the track behind the gym. It's quite clean and gets the job done when you need to get a workout in. You can only get in if you're Caltech affiliated or know someone who is.”

“Esit: I found the entrance but it was somewhat confusing. Much larger than the one I usually go to.Attached to another business that is not 24 hours so I couldn't get in to access the gym; terrible design. If the gym does have it's own door, it's not easy to find.”

“I went to this gym as my trainer moved to different locations a few times before landing here as his final spot.I'm very impressed with the facility and was wowed the first time coming. Now it is my standard on what I would want as a minimum from a private gym.Facility is regularly cleaned and half the time when I come, I see someone mopping or wiping equipment. There are plenty of dumbbells, barbells (different grips), myriad of machines, and 3 cages and 3 deadlift platforms. You got battle rope, slam balls, weighted pouches, climbing rope, resistance bands, hip thrust platform, sled, large tires, weighted bats, and many other equipment that will basically cover all your needs and more. They also have spray bottles and towels for you to wipe down equipment. It's an personal trainer appointment based gym, so you need a trainer and a schedule time slot. You unfortunately cannot just walk in whenever, or come here on your own for the most part. But I do like this aspect as generally the novices or newer people won't be randomly wandering around and causing issues in the gym, and the trainers will usually keep things organized and structured in a way to not bother other clients. The other trainers I've met and seen are generally friendly and open so it's not an issue trying to get space or to hit up a certain workout. It's generally very open and empty, as it's a private gym, so you really get to do the things you want without any or much waiting, unlike going to a big box gym like LA Fitness/Gold's Gym/24hr.However it does get packed on weekends, so there may be multiple trainers and clients crowding up the area, and sometimes people may be waiting on equipment. This rarely happened when I went as it would usually start dying down around my appointed time and I think they added limits to how many trainers can train for the same time slot. When it's a few people or just yourself here, this gym is really amazing and worth it. I wasn't able to come all the time, but on the days I did, those were my high effort days. I would work out really hard and hit on all the things that are usually difficult or inconvenient to do at my regular gym.Overall, great facility, very spacious, lots of natural light, tons of equipment, clean restrooms and facility in general, and a very cool owner. It is however pricey and understandable. Would be cool to have an experienced gym goer time slots where you could come without a trainer for monthly cost but the legal stuff and whatnot. If there was one, I would probably join in a heartbeat even with the drive being relatively far from my new home now.I've trained here for 2-3 years? before my trainer left this field, and have come here once for a private session on my own. I haven't gone back in a year since writing this, but I wish to revisit some day!”

“Class was great! It was my first time joining, and Scott was my instructor - he was very friendly and accommodating. He brought us in and gave us all the info we needed and introduced us to the room setup/explained how class would go. He checked in throughout class, and noticed when I felt lost once or twice and got me up to speed. Really appreciated his warm welcome and upbeat personality. Fun class! So happy to have had the opportunity with Pasadena Run Club to try Barry’s for the first time :)”

“Fit Annex is a fantastic fitness facility. Fitness trainer, Teresa Glover, owns and operates this studio and she is a true professional who knows her craft. She is dedicated to a healthy lifestyle through fitness and teaching the importance of whole foods and plant based foods in the diet. As a fitness coach, Teresa is on point. Her training sessions are unique to each client and tailored the potential of each person's physical capabilities. Teresa trains and strengthens for "life motions" and not merely for the sake of strength. Make no mistake... These training sessions will have each client emerge looking fantastic and feeling more confident! I have known and trained with Teresa Glover since July 2003. For four of those years, I lived in Irvine, CA. Ultimately, it didn't work for me time-wise due to the 50+ mile distance. During that time, I was inspired my best to continue those sessions on my own. As soon as I moved back to my house in Altadena this past July, I contacted Teresa right away. We resumed sessions and I quickly began noticing positive results soon after - even following a four year hiatus! Fit Annex has a fantastic staff of fitness trainers there also - each one carefully picked by Teresa. Fit Annex is a high-quality training facility which I would recommend to anyone and everyone. “I had my first training session with Antonio and he is an excellent trainer! We talked in detail about my goals, prior injuries and things to avoid, nutrition, and the best workout routines for me. We then went to start my training and man, I had one of the best workouts I've ever had. He first assessed my range of motion, then did some stretches and exercises, all of which hit the 3 main body parts we had discussed. Antonio is very friendly, extremely knowledgeable (able to explain things in detail), and can definitely tell he loves what he does. I know I accomplished a lot with the session with him and I can feel it!!! Thank you Antonio!”

“It’s my new go to gym! They have a lot of amenities although the weight area is always packed but not a big problem. Have a lot of variety of workout machines that includes bicycles and treadmills with the stairmaster as well.”

“They should clean their machines more often!I like the personnel, very friendly and nice with the willingness to help in what's in their reach.I enjoy my cardio sessions here when I can't hike!?Overall, better than Monterrey Parks 24hr Gym; where 40% of machines are broken, filthy and pool room smells too much like chlorine...I think its unhealthy!”
