Update as of 12/24 they have their liquor license back. This store is a great corner store with average corner store prices. They normally have change if you need quarters for laundry. They have a policy that customers have to wear masks due to Covid and have a plexiglass shield separating customers and staff at checkout.

I was literally just chased out if the market by the cashier and verbally assaulted. I was trying to wait for the person in front of me to move to a safe enough distance because they did not have a mask on. The cashier tried to make it out like it was a racial thing and saying that I can't "segregate their customers." Like I don't live in this neighborhood and I don't shop there on a semi-regular basis. It had nothing to do with the person's race. At all. Anyway is a danger if they aren't wearing a mask. Even if I'm wearing a mask, the risk of transmission is still medium to high. I was trying to explain this to the cashier and they got more and more aggressive toward me and started yelling at me. I decided to leave the store at this point and I put all of my items on the counter and calmly to explain why I didn't feel safe, but then they came from behind the counter and said they were going to "kick my a**** raised their hands like they wanted to fight, got too close to me as they continued to yell at me and came at me, forcing me to back out of the store to stay safe. Their behavior was completely inappropriate and unprofessional. Nobody should be treated like this! If they had just stayed calm, we could have talked it out. I don't want this cashier to be fired because times are very tough right now, but they should at least be suspended for a few days. Will certainly never shop at the Vernan Market ever again!!

Really sweet customer service. In this world where no one seems to give two cares about each other it was refreshing to we a manager that was so. I've but most of all so caring to the two different sets of kids in her store who were equally polite back.
