“The staff is always super helpful.Thats all i got. So heres a poem i found about hardware stores. Where have all the hardware stores gone -- dusty, sixty-watt warrens with the wood floors, cracked linoleum, poured concrete painted blood red? Where are Eppes, Terry Rossa Yon's, Flint -- low buildings on South Monroe,Eight Avenue, Gaines Street with their scent of paint thinner, pesticides, plastic hoses coiled like serpentsin a garden paradisal with screws in buckets or bins against a brick wall with hand-lettered signsin ball-point pen -- Carriage screws, two dozen for fifty cents -- long vicious dry-wall screws, thick wood screwslike peasants digging potatoes in fields, thin elegant trim screws-- New York dames at a backwoods hickSunday School picnic. O universal clevis pins, seven holes in the shank, like the seven deadly sins......Barbara Hamby”

“Like a mini version of Home Depot but instead of missing certain departments and supplies do to being a smaller size, you don't actually be reduced in any, instead you gain in many of the things you're missing from home depot. The main and most important thing that any and all businesses rather alike or not always will have this one same thing at the very least, customer service, good or bad or even so ignored, that it seems obsolete(nonexistent), which is what you get if at all at home depot. But Ace hardware you can count on, for customer service and having the supplies you need. Although being one of the smaller, if not the smallest store in it's category, you would think it has more employees than some of the bigger and biggest stores in it's category. The reason it may seem so, is cuz you don't have a problem finding help if needed. You can always find someone when needed, instead of having to search around for someone like they are hiding or something. The employees actually come looking to help you in case you need it or need help finding something.”

“Today, I received exceptional customer service from Damion at the Rockridge Cole Hardware. He went out of his way to be helpful, kind, caring plus extremely informative about what I was looking for. It reminded me of how every employees has been towards me since Cole Hardware established itself in the neighborhood in 2016. Yes, you probably could get some of their items a few dollars cheaper on Amazon but great in person customer service is priceless. There's an energy to it that is really extremely special these days. Please support this local business and its fantastic hard working employees. Next time you need to get that random item, call or text Cole Hardware at 510.230.0145 to see if they have it. I prefer text and usually someone will get back to me fairly quickly, no matter what time of the day!”

“I just came across my old bad review, and the note about new management - and I wanted to say that I have started shopping here again, and it's a great place. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Thanks to everyone on the team.”

“For over 15 years, this spot has been my go-to for construction materials and lumber. The folks at the counter and out in the yard, familiar faces for years, all delivering good customer service. They handle special orders if they don't have the lumber in stock, and it's always a pleasure catching up with the crew on every trip for my remodeling business This place is the real deal.”

“Telegraph hardware is small and packed to the rafters with stuff. I come here often due to ease of access, and it's always quick in quick out. The owners seem to be the only employees, and while they don't know much about hardware or repair topics they do know their stock. A quick ask will get you to the right place. The same owners run True Value Eastern near Berkeley Bowl. They let me bring my bike in for safety from theft, a good thing.”

“I have been living in Oakland for 40 plus years and this place has been around for a long time and I still shop there to this day but one thing I like about Bonanza I don't have to wait in a long line lol when purchasing products and they're prices are reasonable”

“Great guys. They were able to understand what equipment I needed and also worked out the payment option and return date because I came in close to closing on a Saturday. Ivery much appreciated their understanding and flexibility. I will definitely continue to do business with them.”

“Friendly and helpful! John helped me try and problem solve what tool to use for a project. he took his time and showed me different tools on a difficult flooring project. Ultimately he recommend trying low tech tool that I didn't even need to rent something cheaper to try first. Great experience all the way around.”

“Please don't follow the business hours on Yelp. Yelp does not let me to change the business profile unless I must sign up the Yelp business program which I have kept receiving Yelp marketing call all days to hassle to pay the advertisement fees. Please google the correct business hours.”

“Wahing Trading is unfortunately closing which is such a bummer. Wahing has been open since 1996 and is closing down in 2021. The owner of Wahing decided it was time to retire and the property owner wanted to sell the building Wahing was in. I will miss you Wahing!”

“Huge inventory of plumbing supplies, reasonable price and very friendly employees. Definitely my go to to avoid the craziness at Home Depot. They also seem calm on a weekend which is another huge plus.”

“I ran all over the East Bay & made half a dozen phone calls before I got here. I was trying to make custom power steering hoses for a hot rod project. When I finally got here, I found what seems to be the only competent hydraulics shop left between Richmond and Alameda, as far inland as San Leandro. Maybe that's not quite fair, but these guys got the hoses I needed made within 45 minutes, at a very fair price, and threw in a scrap of fuel filler hose just for the heck of it. I won't bother going anywhere else now that I know how good Hoses Unlimited is.”

“This place is a good business to buy from! They have a lot of light products and the shopkeeper was an expert. She helped me choose the right kind of light bulbs when I don’t know much about them. One thing to note is that although it looks like this shop is closed (with all the gates closed), it is open.”

“This is one of my favorite stores in Chinatown, it's a lot like the Ben Franklin shops of my childhood. They have great toys, crafts, hardware, housewares, accessories, and pajamas and shoes, and snacks! They really do have everything. We get our house slippers here. You can't beat their prices and the owners are pleasant.”

“Super helpful employees who make sure you're getting a fair price. Never imagined I'd need to run out for welding supplies, but now that I do, having them just off Alameda is super convenient.”

“This review is for the customer service pick up window only I went into the Home Depot on Alameda Ave. this morning to pick up a bedframe that I had ordered online. Shawna and Mya helped me and both of them were awesome! They brought this huge heavy box out to my car and loaded it in. They are both very strong, respectful and polite.”

“I called and asked if they accept donations. The response was that they are very choosy about which items they accept. I only have collector items so I didn't think they would refuse my items. They accepted the ones I brought. I'll leave a pic of one of the African Masks I gave them.”

“Just before closing at Home Depot on Alameda Avenue, Oakland, employee Alberto saved the day. He not only guided me on replacing blinds but also efficiently found the cleaner I needed. A huge shout-out to Home Depot for outstanding staff like Alberto. His dedication made my experience genuinely five-star worthy, showcasing the kind of exceptional service that sets them apart.”

“In July 2002, Ralph of Frameworks made six windows for my Oakland home -- it's now been fifteen years, and they're still working terrific! The double-pane insulated glass hasn't seen any condensation, and from the inside, the wood glows. The outside? Perfect match to my Rockridge home. There are plenty of cheaper, cheezy windows, sold at big box stores, often made of plastic, vinyl, MDF, or some gawdawful gunk. You get what you pay for. This is the kind of craftsmanship that's so rare. Ralph and his crew are a treasure ... one of East Bay's real assets.”
