November 2022 by Not H.
Had a BiRads4 breast biopsy performed Monday. Pathology turnaround time 3-5 days. I call on Friday after their lunch, was told FAX cut off mid-report. What about RIS or PACS or TELE? Email? I have been in radiology for over 25-yrs, spent years as a breast cancer navigator for a specialist and graduated from a PA Radiology program as a 50-yr old patient and an Allied Healthcare practitioner. TeleMedicine is not new. Yet a FAX prevents me from knowing results of my BiRads4 biopsy (results 3-5 days to be sent to PCP). I called twice today, day five (5), and was told they have "half of FAX" and they are "waiting". I called, again, just after 1600 hours and answering service said they went home for weekend and probably left early because it is a holiday. I can say this is POOR FORM when we can get brca results within THREE days and I am to wait a total of EIGHT DAYS? This is why GPs have NO BUSINESS caring for high-risk cancer patients. This is why we are trained in patient care and how to facilitate patients WANTING to return for care. This is one reason patients do not trust their care givers and do not return. For continued care and personalized medicine, I will steer clear of this sloppy practice that let's a cancer diagnosis or negative dx go ignored over a weekend. The days for the patient are long while waiting, but it is GRUELING when your DAUGHTERS and MOTHER are hanging on every second that ticks by without knowing the pathology results. I am disgusted by his offices lack of sensitivity with cancer or post-biopsy patients. He gets paid regardless. My path results are also in at the facility performing the biopsy, but protocols dictate I get results from Dr. AHN....They get paid, so what's another weekend to them?! Sickened. They are not trained in this arena and all the while, their patients suffer, stress, worry, have family members all on alert....and we wait EIGHT DAYS because the FAX PAPER quit halfway thru after their 2pm lunch was over. Who could sit there for 2-hrs not trying to get the FAX for their payient before leaving for the weekend?! I know how the movie ends. I get a pedestrian vetsion of results and referred out. Got it. But to make us suffer and wonder for another weekend when the results are in your hands, because the imaging cebter has them? Cruelty, insensitive, and utter slop. Patients: These doctors work for YOU! You have a choice. If they do the bare minimum, find an attentive, passionate MD, DO, PA, or FNP. Patients have a choice and do NOT have to settle with their caregiver because of insurance. They have others. No patient should be neglected by those adhering to their version of the OATH.

I really like this office. It's always clean and tidy and the girls are always welcoming. Whenever I call in for any questions, Liz answers me in a polite manner and usually has the answers to anything I need. They also see me in a timely manner so I don't feel like I wait very long.

I experienced the most bizarre behavior from a medical professional at this office. At first visit, the physician's assistant was thorough and kind. At second visit, it was as if she was an entirely different person walked through the door. She was clearly irritated and annoyed, didn't examine me, cut me off while I was explaining why I was there (abdominal pain, bloody stools, nausea, vomiting, yellowed eyes), stated I didn't have yellowed eyes before having glanced my direction, and stated she would refer me to a eye doctor for my eyes. After storming out of the room, she came back and said she would order an ultrasound, bloodwork, and that I needed to fill out a mandatory mental health form that all medi-cal patients must complete. I sat there in complete bewilderment and then left the office crying. The belittling, degrading, and out right neglect for her patients is horrendous. I'm appreciative that her behavior helped send me on my way to find a wonderful doctor who referred me to the correct specialist (not an eye doctor) where my diagnosis was thankfully discovered. If you don't want to be treated like a subhuman, find a different doctor's office.
