I was instructed by my insurance company to contact this Hertz location directly to coordinate my rental while my car was in the shop, but have not once been able to get through to them. They NEVER answer the phone (I have tried 5+ times at different times throughout the day, on multiple days). I have left voicemails with no response. I even called Hertz corporate and they even acknowledged they could not get through to them. I am now actively looking for alternate locations to coordinate my rental because of the simple fact that this location cannot do something as easy as pick up the phone (or return a call) to confirm my rental.

They won’t have the type of vehicle you reserved and will offer only the garbage cars they have on the lot. I reserved electric, but when I showed up, they didn’t have it. Worst rental experience ever.

Booked a rental and went to Hurtz. Right when I walked in the door. They said All rentals are not available. I explained to the guy that I had just spen $80 on a Lyft to get there and am going to be stranded without a rental and to please try to help. He said there is NOTHING he can do for me. Don’t waste you’re time going here.

I will never rent from Hertz again. I pre-paid my vehicle two months in advance but ended up canceling my vehicle due to not being able to take the trip because of a family emergency. even though I paid for the vehicle upfront in full they charged me a $100 cancellation fee and the cancellation was way over a month prior to rental. With this inflation $100 is a lot of money.

S/O to Ben, who is always helpful, precise, and professional in all parts of the rental process. He even went above and beyond when the wipers weren't properly wiping water, he fixed the issue on the spot! Really great service and this is what makes the difference. Hertz is lucky to have him on their team. Thank you

My experience with Hertz 060822-061122 I am a 72-year-old man on a cane collecting disability and living on $2000 a month SSI and a small pension. I generally do not drive and stay close to home. My landlord recently decided to tent the house for termites, and offered to cover my costs for hotel and rental car during the fumigation. I was able to find a nice, affordable hotel from Hotwire, after a search of many similar sites. They also offered me an $87.98 deal for two days car rental from Hertz, which I purchased, and which I was counting on to make things easier and hold down costs. My experience with Hertz was an absolute disaster. A lot of the trouble stemmed from the vague or absent information on the confirmation email: no statement of office hours, description of the location other than a street address near John Wayne Airport and a phone number to a distant call center and phone tree that cued me up waiting un-helped for long minutes. My rental car pick-up time was 12:00, but the exterminators kept me waiting until past 3:00. I tried to call Hertz and explain the delay, but could not get through. I downloaded the Hertz app but the only option was to cancel the rental and forfeit my $87.98. There was no other email or contact information on the confirmation. I called Hotwire, but they said it was a Hertz issue. I arrived by Uber at 4:10 at a large upscale luxury hotel, to find the Hertz location inside had closed at 4:00. I returned the next day to be "greeted" by a dismissive and disinterested 20-something. I asked if I could get the cost of the rental reduced. He said "No," and I needed $500 on a credit card to get the car. None of this info was on the confirmation email. I had less than $100 on my debit card. He said I couldn't have the car, nor would I be entitled to my $87.98. There was no hint of apology or empathy for my situation. My total Uber/Lyft rides for these four days cost $223.03, which includes $126.98 in useless back-and-forth rides to and from Hertz which was first closed and then dismissive. It would've cost more if I hadn't have been able to get five rides from friends to help me complete my volunteer obligations. I decided to go without food for my last night away from home, which caused me low blood sugar symptoms, so as to be sure to have Uber fare home. When I got home and stabilized, I called the Hertz call center and waited until I got a nice young lady who listened to my story and agreed to refund my $87.98 in 10 business days, before my SSI arrives but thankfully, I'm expecting a disability check to live on. Not for the likes of the poor and old like me is the Hertz at 4500 MacArthur, in the Renaissance Hotel in Newport Beach. A nice place to visit but...

Ben was fantastic! He was very patient with me for I was unaware of a required $200 deposit. He waited until I could make arrangements with my bank. Thank you, Ben.Ben had my rental minivan ready to go. I went through AAA and I will do so again. As AAA had informed me, picking up the minivan at the Renaissance Hotel was much cheaper than renting at John Wayne Airport (SNA).Thanks again, Ben!

I would like to say THANK YOU BEN for such great customer service. 10/10. I originally rented from Hertz in Irvine and left something in the trunk's tire compartment. The employee there didn't really seem to care to look for it. When he told me to call the Hertz in Newport because that's where the car was going to be, I spoke with Ben, who actually asked for my name and number so he could let me know once he's able to check. He called me to let me know he found it so I really appreciated that!!

Professional and courteous staff, a little hidden for location. Pricing was very good, cars, cleansiness, and process was easy. Would book there again. ???

We came to Irvine to attend the wedding of my sister in-law, and we were completely UNHAPPY ? with the experience of renting from Hertz. It might be the last time we book with Hertz due to the lack of car inventory/availability (maybe at this location). The assistant manager at this location was rude when we tried to explain or ask any question or get information. He spoke down to us and tried to make it seems like Hertz did everything right even though we were forced to downgrade our car to a smaller size and lower class. It was a mistake to book from this location!

Obscene wait in hot, stuffy parking area at John Wayne airport to pick up car. Find another rental car company.
