Good luck trying to get a hold of anyone in this branch. Need to get in touch with your account rep? Voicemail. Okay, fine he's busy so call the other rep listed on your profile? Voicemail. Hmm... Try to call the branch number because surely someone will pick up and be able to help. It rings a bunch of times and someone eventually picks up but they're located at the Century City branch and they put you on hold because they need to call your home branch in order to find someone to help you. Which you already tried. Hashtag wtf. I only have a checking account here because of the student loan refinance I did with First Republic. The student loan refinance experience was great (props to Sam Kang) but once my account was assigned to the Newport Beach office, I've been wholly unimpressed with the service since. A few months ago I contacted my rep (Brian) because I was interested in applying for the 2.25% personal line of credit. Turns out, they don't actually want anyone to use the line (??!) from what I gather from my conversation with Brian, given that he declined each and every potential purpose for how I could potentially use the line meanwhile the website promoting the line displayed images and anecdotes of paying for weddings and luxury vacations. (And btw does anyone understand how this makes sense? I can't use the line to pay down my 3% 20K car loan but they're suggesting I can use it to pay for a lavish Maldives vacation??) Again, hashtag wtf. I was disappointed by the outcome however I found that Brian was really condescending toward me throughout our conversation. Clearly I'm not his target client and he let me know it. I can see that other people have sung his praises however I have not had any positive experiences with him. I have since formally requested that service of my account be transferred to another branch and I can't wait to see how well all the Newport branch cohorts will facilitate my request.

Thank you Jasmine for helping me get a new card! She is very professional and kind. I had my wallet stolen a couple of days ago, and had a new card made on site. Plus theres always free cookies and coffee which is always nice.

This bank is a shame. They don't worth my time like to write a review. First and last time that I request something from this place.

After being with First Republic Bank appeared all was okay until they actually had to work for my money in their bank. They appear to be as all other banks. If they don't want the work the close the account. They love to count money but when it comes to all that goes along with the money they must find hiding under the desk easier in my estimation. So I had to pull the five star to a one because like I said they close an account easier than working for an account.

Unreasonable. If you open a business checking account with them and would like to add employees as check signers on the account, they request that your employees provide their name, address, SSN, DOB, drivers license and mother's maiden name in order to sign my checks for my company. The employee is also required to sign a document which states that the bank is allowed to run a hard credit check whenever and however often they see fit. Slightly ridiculous, what employee is going to submit themselves to that? Not to mention that NONE of the big banks request this invasive of information for an employee to be a signer on the account. Me being the owner isn't that what I'm suppose to be doing, vetting my own employee? If this bank wants to compete with the big banks for business accounts they have a long way to go. I would look else where for business accounts.

A few months back I saw the promotion for the 2.95% fixed for 15 years. My classmates had refinanced with First Republic so I thought I'd give them a shot and signed up online. Later, I was contacted by Alayne from this branch. She told me about the bank and what the requirements were. What I did not find posted on website is the XX% cash equity (of the amount you're borrowing) that you have to have on hand in order to qualify for the loan (I STILL CANT FIND THIS ANYWHERE ON THE WEBSITE). Anyway, I asked her if stocks counted towards meeting this requirement. She told me yes, only if they are not long-term/requirement stocks. NONE of my stocks were those, they were mostly FANG stocks, easily cashable with just a swipe on my phone. So we went through the pre-screening questions and I barely made the XX% requirement. I filled out the application and submitted. We talked after the submission results came back and she told me my stocks did NOT count since they were "marginalized." Even though my provided stock documents showed marginalized values, the stock values I reported to First Republic were NOT marginalized. I even told her that I can cash out the stocks right now and it'll be in my bank a few days later. She tells me there may be some technicality with doing this. She proceeded by asking me a what sounded like a rhetoric question about how else am I going to fulfill this XX% requirement. How the heck am I supposed to come up with thousands of dollars out of thin air when I already initially told her everything I have? After this, I was done. Took a pull on my credit for absolutely nothing and this rep didnt understand the fact that the reported amount of stocks I owned were not marginalized. I left the marginalized value out. If any margnalization was going to possibly disqualify me from obtaining the loan, it would've be nice to mention it BEFORE I applied and took a pull on my credit. I might give First Republic another chance since I am a reasonable person and they do seem like a great bank, but I would definitely do with another representative, someone competent and doesn't waste my time from the get-go.

Spoke to one of their reps Alayne a few months ago. I was highly optimistic that my good credit, decent income, and low debt to income ratio would qualify me to refinance my medschool loans with them especially given their claim of taking a "holistic" look at looking at our financial standing. Well this is an utter lie... Just 5 minutes into our conversation I mention that I had a short sale 6 years ago, upon which the rep immediately stops me and tells me that I am disqualified because of it. So much for "holistic." I tried to ask if there were other ways around this and she said she would call me the next day but never did. Pretty disappointing.
