Terrible bank. They pretty much stole my vehicle. They said I was behind on a payment which I wasn't. When I showed all my proof they then said I didn't pay for the month they took my car so I wasn't getting it back unless I paid the loan off. They are a bunch of liars and this bank needs to be shut down. I'm meeting with a lawyer next week and will be making an appearance on my local news station to put these theifs on blast. This needs to stop. I hope everyone else does the same it's time to fight back!!!

Don't work with these guys. I got very screwed by the bank and when I called they basically told me too bad. In June I owed $10,400 so I paid months in advance to get my loan down. It's now Jan 2024 and I still owe $10,400. They took 100 percent of all my money to interest. They won't work with me. Worst bank I have ever worked with. Do not work with them. it should be illegal what they are doing

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service provided by Mechanic's Bank and to file a formal complaint. My recent experience with the bank has been frustrating and unproductive, and I believe it is essential to bring these issues to your attention. On [date], I had to navigate through three different levels of the bank's customer service in an attempt to release funds to a body shop. Mechanic's Bank has a policy stipulating that work must be completed before funds are released. While I understand the policy, my concern lies in the lack of transparency and the financial burden it places on small businesses. What perplexes me the most is the inability of any representative to provide more than a one-sentence explanation of this policy. The body shop, in question, required the funds to purchase essential parts for the work. Despite my role as the one funding the insurance premium through my hard-earned dollars, the bank appeared unwilling to consider any alternatives that would facilitate a smoother process. Moreover, the first two escalation levels were unfamiliar with the Better Business Bureau, and the third level, seemingly unaccredited, displayed a blatant disregard for my concerns. Following my interactions with them, Elizabeth assured me a callback from Jim Ponzo, the fourth-level escalation. Regrettably, I am yet to receive a response from Mr. Ponzo. This lack of communication, transparency, and follow-through on the part of Mechanic's Bank is deeply concerning. I believe that a financial institution should prioritize effective customer service, especially when it comes to addressing legitimate concerns raised by its clients. I feel compelled to share my experience and caution others. If given the choice, I strongly advise against selecting Mechanic's Bank, even if the initial rate appears favorable. The rate, in this case, is overshadowed by the poor service, unresponsiveness, and the seemingly indifferent attitude towards customer issues.

Like all the other reviews, what a terrible bank. I missed a few payments while on military orders, without internet. Mechanics Bank could care less. This is not a military family friendly bank, and would not even accept copies of official military orders. Even the in person customer service was rude about it.

Went into the Newport Branch today. I was helped right away and did a payoff on my auto loan. Was a bit skeptical coming in due to all the bad reviews but everything was smooth and efficient. They said I receive my title to my car in about 3-4 weeks so just waiting on that. If it comes in the expected wait time, would definitely recommend this location.

They lose a star for the long wait times on the phone when I was trying to sell. I used MB as a lender for about 6 months, until I sold my car to Carmax. Everything went fine. I paid on time and although put on hold for a short while, I talked to a human.

Customer service is the worst I've ever seen - nonexistent. You WILL NOT ever speak to a real person. I've tried every possible way. The automated voice is very lazily set up and pathetic in the year 2023. Most of the time payments don't work. Forget about making principal payments - they only accept them through physical mail and I'm reluctant to send one because I have such astoundingly low expectations of them. I have no idea how this can be legal. The majority of the time I can't make any payments online, through the call center, or through text, which leaves me with going in person or mailing a check which is ridiculous. Sometimes, online payments DO work but they don't honor the $2999.99 max per month in my case. I can only do up to $2500, and frankly it's ridiculous that there is a monthly max at all. I had no idea about it when I was financing my car at the dealer.

Wish I could give negative Stars. Im a couple months away from paying off my auto loan and they are trying to add fees and late chargers for something that happened on their end. Worst customer service also!!!!

If I could give 0 stars I would. My father purchased a car for me but the loan was only in his name. He passed away and mechanics bank said I had to either return the car or payoff the entire loan. I returned the car and they sent my father a check for the overpayment of the car sale. I spoke to a lawyer who said I could fill out a small estate affidavit and provide a copy of the death certificate and mechanics bank could reissue the check in my name. I called mechanics bank and they refuse to reissue the check. They said they have no contractual obligation to me and they will keep it in my father's name (even though he is deceased). They are very heartless about the situation. They have been assholes throughout the whole process since I told them my father passed away. No compassion at all. Now I'm stuck with a check under my fathers name that I can't cash, even though I was the one making the payments. Stay far away from them!

I've had my auto loan with Mechanics Bank for a couple of years now and don't understand why the reviews are with low stars. Everytime I had a concern with my payments (which are my fault not MB) a simple phone call to them solves my issue. I've always been treated with respect and of course I return it.

Mechanics changed my payment date without notice while on autopay and notifications turned on, and went on months of charging me late fees without warning nor notifications. Horrible and will never use again.

So I took my complaint to the BBB & mechanics bank said I deactivated the autopay 8 minutes after I activated it!! why would I set that up and then go back and deactivate it? I have had other car loans and autopay system set up with no problem!! This seems to be a reoccurring issue for many ppl throughout the comments of the autopay not working!!
