These folks are great!! We moved from Newark, California to Japan. The Yamato move team packed all of our belongings, moved them to their warehouse, and shipped them to Japan. The teams were friendly, helpful, and did a great job!!

My wife shipped all her belongings from Japan and they were completely undamaged, well-packed, shrink-wrapped, and strapped onto their own pallet. The staff in San Francisco was courteous and helped me back my car into the loading bay and load my car. The shipping boxes they provided are heirloom quality: these are definitely getting saved for future use. The shipment arrived slightly late due to a strike, which Yamato warned us about before the shipment left Japan; still the arrival was only about a week behind schedule. The limited time I have spent in Japan made it abundantly clear that Japanese customer service is light years above that of most American companies. Yamato provides this same level of nearly perfect customer service.

Yes, they did call after this posting and wanted to talk with me but, I am sorry that I don't have time to talk to them because I know what they are going to say. The custom price is not their fault because that is set by Japanese government. And I can admit that it is truth. However, my point being is that they could estimate a bit better rather than saying "the fee is a little more than the estimate." In my dictionary, 30% more is not "a little." Because this is their profession, they should have forecasted better even if they claim the everyday custom rate is different. I am sure they did great job when I sent my expensive wine oversea. My dad was tremendously happy so thank you for that. But I expect you do better business next time.

I'll tell you what, these guys are an absolute pleasure to do business with. Not only are they remarkably courteous and helpful, they are completely adaptable to shipping date changes, location changes, etc. I was mailing a big box of clothes to my sister and brother-in-law as they travel through Japan, and Yamato made it totally quick and painless. Then when I came in at the last minute like a j*** and requested an earlier arrival, they immediately changed it without issue. I work for a variety of manufacturers and deal with shipping and logistics organizations all the time, and Yamato is far and away the best I've worked with. Now I just wish I had to ship overseas more!

If you want excellent, timely service, use Yamato transport. I couldn't believe how easy our last move was because of them. The process was simple. They came to our apartment, did an estimate, (which was exactly what they charged,) and before the move, they delivered the boxes. On moving day, they arrived in the morning and packed up the old apartment. In the afternoon, they unpacked at the new apartment. Then later, they retrieved the boxes. They were consistently punctual, and everything was handled so carefully. I had transported my most fragile items myself, but when I saw the care they took, I wished I'd let them move everything.
