I've been going to J&W Lumber for many years. this particular JW location is exceptional due to the fact that Chris and his crew are so professional. It doesn't matter if you're a contractor like me or a homeowner; I've been at the counter and watched how they help people with their project questions. They have a lot of patience. they treat everyone with fast, friendly expert service.A special shout out to Shawn. He really knows his stuff. They all rotate out in the yard and get you loaded up real fast. They help you pick through to get the best lumber, culling out the cracked and warped pieces, making sure you get the best.

I came in last week looking for information on building a new deck, and Samantha not only gave me some good ideas, but was very knowledgeable and very helpful. When I decide to build my deck, I will be coming back for Samantha’s help.

I must admit, if you need real lumber, right now, this is about the last place locally to get it. They're not filled with generic looking ordinary lumber, they carry full sized timber 6x6, 8x8, etc... They are pretty limited on cutting said timber though. I was in last week, and spoke briefly with the saw operator, and we discussed cutting some knee braces for my patio. I returned today to purchase 12pcs, but I guess I didn't mention 6 x 6's previously, so I was turned away today, because they cannot cut a 45 deg angle on 6" x 6" lumber. Very disappointing to say the least. I know I can cut them myself, but I figured a lumber yard could be more accurate and repeatable. ( and convenient ). I would think to claim a mill service that can't process 6" lumber is mis leading. Most people can easily cut 2" and 4" materials, but would approach a mill service for thicker cuts. ....Rich

Needed some quality redwood for a client project, so checked out J&W. Chris at the front desk walked me over to their selection and with his keen eye, kindly picked out and loaded just what I needed. So thankful for their selection and great service, saving me from having to drive a great distance to a competitor.

We ordered railroad ties over a month ago and they cancelled the delivery 3 times while we were waiting for the delivery. We called each time to inquire when 4 hour window was over as to where they were . And they want to reschedule again. The materials were paid for over a month ago also. We ended up canceling the order and going somewhere else . Beware they have issues if you are getting something delivered .
