Moraga Shopping Center, 1355 Moraga Way, Moraga“Zaa'tar restaurant inside is a hidden gem. I've had their very delicious and satisfying falafel wrap a few times. Come here for yummy yet nutritious food with a big serving size sold for an affordable price.”
“Was in the area and in the mood for a sandwich. Decided to give them a try after finding them on Yelp. Glad I did, food looks like the pictures and tastes as good. Service and food was excellent. I saw a sign in the window saying they have been open since the fifties. I can see why. I got the turkey/avocado/bacon with pepperjack cheese on Dutch crunch roll. Their sandwiches are massive and reasonably priced. Will be back! (Have already been back once)”
“This shop means I do not have to go to Safeway or any corporate chain stores. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I go often to get my kombucha refill with new flavors and same for the yogurt. Both are delicious. If I were more of a cook, I would make even better use of their great selection of pantry items. But I do get most of my non-food stuff there. Things like body wash, hand soap, dish soap, tooth paste tabs, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent. And it is also in a great neighborhood.”
“Stopped in for some fresh produce and left with over $150 of fresh groceries. This is a family owned market that has everything you’d want and then some. Locally sourced produce, fresh, and clean. A bit overpriced but comes with the location. I hope this place can avoid the disasters that often come with opening a new business in Oakland. Protect this place!”

2638 Pleasant Hill Rd, Pleasant Hill“Very family friendly place that prides themselves in great service. They have a lot of items that are hard to find. I appreciate the staff, the items they sell and their level of customer service.”
“I will go out of my way to shop at Star. Can't afford the meat department's sandwiches and avoid the wine selection, but always find the grocery items I need and am consistently happy with the quality. My latest discovery are the spices...fresh, organic and reasonable. Treat yourself!”
“This was a lovely find on my walk down telegraph waiting for my child's hairstyle. They have cheese making supplies, pickling, and sourdough starter. I bought some super cute mason jar lids. I had just lost all my lids somehow so it was a pleasant surprise to find. The person working had a very thoughtful and very patient conversation with someone on the phone about cheese making while I was shopping. I hope to be able to attend one of their classes. They are held in the evening so childcare might be an obstacle. 10/10 highly recommend!”
“Best San Leandro local butcher. You can call and order your meat and they will be ready when you get there. Authentic Mexican meat cuts like bolla and aranchera.”
“If you don't already shop at The Food Mill, you should start. It's a health food store that's been in Oakland since 1933. My current obsession is their crunchy peanut butter. You get a giant jar for under $10. It's freshly ground, so fluffy, nothing is added, and no stirring is needed! They also have a thousand bulk items, hard to find ingredients, fresh baked treats, lots of tasty fake meats, and the staff is so lovely and helpful.”
“THE BEST food EVER. The sausage is so good you need to buy 2x what you need as you'll eat it on the way home! cheeses, beer, golubki, ham, soups! everything is so good and CHEAP and the owner is so COOL! Everything there is GOURMET! go... NOW!”
“Just discovered this place by chance and I’m already so excited to go back! They have absolutely everything you would need for a mediterranean diet and so much more! Ali was super nice and very helpful! I know I’m going to be a regular at my new favorite store!❤️”

“None better for friendly, responsive and helpful owners and staff! Great selection; unique offerings. If they don’t have it they can get it for you, often. support your local small family-run business!”
8AM - 6:30PM
1200 Lincoln Ave, Alameda“I just happened to stop by because I needed to snatch my son something quick for lunch. I was blown away by the customer service. And the food options are A+. Couldn't have asked for a better experience in a shop.”
“I love this place, from the deli/meats, hot foods, fruits & vegetables, and all other grocery options of unique and common items. I love walking through the store, a smaller store, but it feels great walking the aisles and window shopping. Cashiers are always friendly, and usually pleasant to converse with. The only issue for me is sometimes the price of common items may be more than a chain market, but I select smartly.”
8AM - 8PM
3295 Castro Valley Blvd, Castro Valley“Like a high-end "Whole Foods" Market before Amazon took over, local products and produce, good butcher shop, nice wine shop, bakery and sushi bar, a great Central American restaurant up stairs (The roast chicken and potato brava are to die for!), sandwich and beer bar down stairs, pizza parlor upstairs, live music in the evenings, other miscellaneous shops, a very pleasant place to shop for the home market.”
“This little market with compact aisles has a lot. Great local food shop with some limited non food items. Staff at times hard to find, but kind and quick to help. Suprised at how much they had available and such good quality.”
“It's obvious that the people who run this place put care into choosing what they stock. I'm delighted that my neighborhood corner store has great fresh produce, dairy alternatives & bulk bins”
“This is a high priced small market that I occasionally patronize. It is good for its eclectic selection and butcher counter. I expect higher prices here, but the produce prices really are insane, and the quality is average. Also, the self-serve section is fairly low quality, given the tone of the rest of the store. I come here when I want convenience- easy parking lot, good meat & fish. By and large, I've experienced good customer service here.”
“Im in this store daily and im always greeted with a "hey how are you". Like today and tomorrow will be and so on and so on. Many hood stores are not this courteous to anyone especially the whiteboys but this place is very welcoming and delightful. Thank you guys I cant tell you how much I appreciate that.”
“Trader Joe's, in Walnut Creek, is One of the BEST grocery Shopping Experiences, in this Area! Friendly Staff, Professional Customer Service, and Fair-market Prices, for Quality Products!! There's NO NEED for WIDE Varieties of the Same Types of Products, when A Business Provides GREAT Quality Products! Shopping Shouldn't be Something Complex, but Easy! I've Found My Shopping Spot!! Thanks ?”
“A strong selection of products in a small store. Friendly cashiers. Many vegan and vegetarian options. It's never busy when I go in, which makes it easy to move around the store but I want them to stay in business so I'd like to see more shoppers in there.”
“Really great selection of foods in such a small store. Generally smaller grocers are more expensive (understandably) but this store manages to have really reasonable prices. The produce is generally very good though it sometimes looks a little dated. The staff are friendly and helpful.”
“Just had a magical and sweet experience with a young lady cashier, Victoria...about my heavenly mother in law when I was buying orchids to honor her. She was soooo sweet when I got tearful and emotional... thank you, Victoria”
“Highly recommended!I bought meet for Passover and I have to say all the family and friends super enjoyed and asked me were I got those beautiful stakes. Also they have so many kosher things to buy and prices are awesome.Service was super .Thank you guys .”
“I can remember coming to this store, when I was about 5 yrs old with my O bachan " grandma, Reiko Sugimoto. Every other weekend on a Saturday. We would buy food, go back to her place and make all kinda of Japanese cuisine. I love this place, it reminds me so much of Japan. So authentic and original, so different than the .99€ ranch. So many products to choose from, and I like that, they sell sushi on Saturday. The authentic version like my grandma makes. So yummy and fresh, I like that I am 1/4 Japanese, along with a couple more nationalities. Every time I come into the store reminds me of going back to my roots. I have children of my now, all grown up. Now I bring my children with me, almost every time I shop here, keep the tradition of my grandma. I love this place, so cute and small store. Reminds me of when I was a young girl about five years old, and it brings me down memory lane. I love that it stays so original and authentic. They stock up on their products, fast customer service, and I like that there's so many options to choose from. I will be coming to this store, forever however long it remains. Five stars !!!! Bon appétit !”
8AM - 9:30PM
2400 Olympic Blvd # 1, Walnut Creek“Olympic Liquors is the Holy Grail for high end Spirits. I'm a bourbon guy and this place has it all .. no joke. If you are looking for that elusive bottle, I suggest you call the store and speak to Sonny. He's honest and truly understands great customer service. Sonny is my new friend”
