Our remodeling construction company has been getting cabinets from Deco-Spec in Monrovia for several years. Overall the cabinets are good and we and our clients save money by having them made there instead of a full custom job. As we order often, we were given Platinum status which is helpful. Now I can call a Platinum agent to help, and they are competent and friendly will call back with info. The only area that drags the company down is shipping. We have a very hard time and lose hours trying to find out what time of day a shipment will arrive, and usually can't find out until a few hours before the driver arrives. There is no way at all to contact shipping directly, and even the agents can't just call shipping, they have to email and wait for an answer, which often does not come for hours. Also they will not ever ship to a jobsite, ever. It has to be a shop or some other place. Due to these difficulties we are now going to get our own truck and drive all the way our to their warehouse and pick up ourselves. Its a long way but faster than being on hold all day. As a note, the delivery drivers themselves are great and once you connect with one, it's all good. There just needs to be a fix on info and connection to the shipping dept itself. I hope someone reads this and acts on it.Service: Cabinet design

This company is very uprofessional. A customer service rep just hung up on me because I wanted some touch up materials for cabinets we purchased from them that were installed pre-pandemic. Apparently, they no longer do stainINGg and glazing in-house and do not have any of materialsused to finish our custom cabinets. So, now we are left to try to source our own materials and find a match to our existing cabinets. The service is horrible and the fact they changed their cabinet colors by outsourcing and left all their pre-pandemic customers out in the cold is a very bad business practice. I do not recommend using them for anything, let alone buying custom cabinets from them.

My contractor used Decor-ative Specialties for my kitchen refurbishment. I am very happy with these. First, one of the things that you can see in the May 2022 attached photos is the material is beautiful. One of the things that is really good about these is that in 9 years, the appearance has remained in its original beautiful state. No fading, no cracks etc. The material is resistant to stains, sunlight damage and water damage. The contractor also built a custom inset entertainment center and other cabinets. These are still pristine.

I’ve had an account at decorative specialties for over 15 years. I’m a high-end custom contractor and I’ve ordered doors and cabinets from them consecutively every year. I went on to purchase an order of 40+ doors and 10+ cabinets and was told that I needed to reapply for my account. Only to find out that my account was denied because I don’t order enough. Super disappointed very disrespectful for a company to sell products and then all of a sudden tell you you can’t buy from them anymore. I went through the whole order dimensions and everything styles doors trims the entire order online and then I was unable to purchase the order only to find out that I can’t order. Super disappointed. That should never be done to anyone. Waste of my time and money will make sure I tell all contractors not to purchase from them.Service: Custom cabinet design & installation

I've had an account there over 30 years ago I went through cancer reopened account and now I don't know what and who this company is they basically lie to you they tell you one thing and it's not the truth they tell you they're going to call you back you never hear back from them I have spent almost 40 hours just trying to get one job completed and I've lost two jobs in the process prior to that these people should not be in business go somewhere else I have connections and people you can go to get in touch with me the reason I wasn't doing work was because I had cancer and I came back to try to make a living these people screwed me contact me at free of cancer at gmail.com again contact me at free of cancer at gmail.comServices: Pre-made cabinets

I am I custom Cabinet Shop owner I have been ordering doors from decorative for the last 15 years. It is sad to say I will not be ordering doors from decorative anymore due to the fact that the quality has gone way down hill. To charge $125 delivery charge is absolutely ridiculous to charge me to phone in a door order is absolutely ridiculous. I'm not sure if the company is Under New Management or what but they have definitely lost my business. I will be going elsewhere for my doors.

I'm a finished carpenter and own my cabinet shop. I have been ordering doors from them for over 30 years. I have had countless other door company's coming by my shop for my business, always turned them down because I have been using Decorative for a long time and I was loyal. And they made a decent door. Now I find they are charging $75 for a phone in order, $35 for a faxed in order, and have quadrupled the trip charge to $125. All this with them constantly having price increases for their products. I understand being a business owner you have to make a profit but, This is well beyond making a profit. Not to mention all the fees they charge. Well no more. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I'll use a company that knows how to treat its loyal customers.

I've been ordering doors from Decore since they were working out of their garage in El Monte, over 40 years, it's sad to say I wont be ordering from them anymore, I'll give you 4 reasons why; 1) The quality of doors has degraded over the years, Doors are machine sanded leaving razor sharp edges, these were knocked down by hand at one time, but not anymore, leaving the finisher to knock them down before staining or painting. 2) The frequency of cracks and defects in the wood, I'm seeing more of these defect now than ever have.. It's faster for me to fix it myself than to wait another week to have a new door made and delivered. 3) They have a recent price change; From this date forward they are charging $75 to call in a order, Yes, we pay them $75 to take our order, incredible, the reasons I was given was Covid, the changing times, really? Look more like low life company exploiting a pandemic for profit. 4) Another recent price change, both in the same month, In the past we were charged a $30 delivery fee, that fee has increased to a whopping $125 per delivery, I'm not kidding... The increase was so high that they didn't note the amount in the email they sent out, you have to log into your account to find out the cost, even the driver who delivered my doors didn't know, he probably didn't know he'd be out of a job soon too, as more company will opt for Will call, or will Decore ban that too in the name of "Covid"? We as Cabinet Makers have ordered our doors because it's cost effective for us to do so, that cost effectiveness is disappearing and it's only a matter of time when Cabinet makers like myself will begin producing their own doors. Decore has grown to the point they are too big to care, It's time I give my business to another Mom and Pop door maker, one who doesn't take loyal customers for granted. Nicholas

We were very excited to finally renovate our kitchen and decided to use Decore-ative Specialties at the recommendation of our contractor. From day one, we had issues with a warped cabinet door and worked through our contractor to have it replaced multiple times. The same issue continues... Then, a couple months post installation, the Thermofoil cabinets above our stove began to peel. Now the peeling is happening on both sides of our stove top. Keep in mind, counter top to bottom of cabinets is a standard 18". We have friends that have had a similar product from a different company for over 18 years and they have never experienced something like this. To top it off, the lack of customer service and communication is baffling. I have reached out to the company multiple times only the receive one condescending email back where they said they have never experienced something like this before. Well now they have and I'd like to know what they plan to do about it. I'd expect a great company to stand by their product and do whatever it takes to make sure they walk the walk. To make sure they treat their customers like they are valued. After thousands of dollars, we sit here today with no clue what or if this company even cares about our situation.I am OK to give a company a great review even if their product had a defect or challenge. However, when a company makes no attempt to fix their mistakes or back the product they are selling, I just don't think they should be in business. The customer experience with Decore-ative Specialties has been a nightmare and I would highly advice that nobody uses this company.Service: Custom cabinets

Horrible customer service. My husband has been a customer for 30 years as a licensed general contractor. For the last 2 years, their service has become progressively worse. They refused to take responsibility for delivery delays. He waited for an order for 3 weeks. Each time he was told it would be on the truck the next day. Three weeks later, his customer was fit to be tied. He had to go to another vendor. Decore-ative Specialities refused to take responsibility for the repeated delays and after several weeks of back and forth, the only thing they did was credit one delivery charge. He was still responsible for paying for doors he couldn't use and the delivery charge. They also like to drag out orders so they can charge $30 for each delivery. Don't use them if you have deadlines to meet and don't want your checking account drained by delivery charges. Why am I writing this review for him? Cause that's what the other half of a business does. Is there someone else I can refer you to that has integrity? The jury's out on that right now. Will let you know if the new vendor turns out to be any better....or worse.
