Heather is super friendly and we go regularly for our little Aussie. He is always apprehensive about going in the door, but gets comfortable pretty quick. He always looks great and is a happy pup after they work their grooming magic. Its great to have his nails maintained and his fur managed so well. They are always happy to change up the cut a bit for the changing of the weather which is great.

I had been wanting to get our dog a proper grooming and had been having a hard time figuring out where to go. I happened to be at Lemos next door one day and noticed that The Wizard of Pawz had the door open, so I walked in. Heather was super friendly and we set up a appointment for our little Aussie. He is usually pretty nervous around other people when we aren't there, but Heather was able to keep him calm and he was well behaved. It took about an hour and he was looking really good with a light trim, trimmed nails, etc. He was definitely at ease with her and the grooming which was great. I'll definitinely be bringing him back and maybe our other dog too. I have already recommended them to our friends who take their dogs to Petsmart and pay more for a lesser service. Also being walking distance is a huge plus, the dogs get a walk on the way to get groomed!

I had my wild cat bathed and groomed. I was amazed at how the groomer Heather handled him. He's never been that good for anyone else.

Jackie's has retired and her replacement, Heather, is an excellent cat groomer.

I brought in my two beautiful Pomeranian's for a bath and trim on 11/27/18. I told Heather that they were getting pretty ratty and needs to be trimmed up along with their bath. A little over an hour later I got a call that both dogs were ready to go home. When I arrived at the grooming salon, I was horrified to find both of my dogs received a LION CUT! I never asked for a Lion Cut nor have I ever shaved my Poms. As a knowledgeable Pom owner I know that it is horrible to shave them as their coats are designed to withstand all weathers. And their coats will never grow back the same once shaved! I asked Heather why she shaved my dogs when I specifically asked to be trimmed? Her answer was that a trim and shave is the same thing. REALLY? $100 dollars later I have two shaved Pom right before winter. My dogs were shivering because all their hair is GONE! Since I have never had a dog shaved before I would think that doing such a drastic cut on any dog, a consent form should be signed by the owner of the pet. Not only was I not presented with any consent forms, I was never told that they would be receiving a lion cut. Now my dogs will have to wear a coat the entire winter and their beautiful fluff is gone and may never grow back. I am beyond furious. My dogs will never be the same again. How does one confuse the word "trim" with body shaving? Would not recommend this groomer to anyone! She obviously does not listen and is not a professional as she would know that Pomeranians should never be shaved like this. See the before and after picture attached. Does this look like a TRIM to anyone?

I brought my 15 year old cat in for a grooming. I was nervous because my cat tends to be shy and doesn't like new people. My cat came back looking clean, soft and relaxed. I would recommend A Wizard of Paws for anyone who needs her services.

I'm absolutely shocked to see anything other than 100% positive reviews for Jackie. I used to work at JD's Pet House when Jackie was working there and she was the most caring compassionate person to animals you could ever meet. Sure you might just want a bath and trim and get them back clipped. That happens when they've been so neglected their hair is so matted it can't be brushed. You shouldn't be mad at Jackie for helping your dog out of that, you should be mad at yourself and embarrassed for not realizing you were neglecting your dog for so long and letting it get that bad without doing anything about it. I learned so much from her just by watching her work with dogs. Then when I moved onto other jobs in chain pet stores with grooming and saw how grooming was run in those places (both in SLO) I was horrified by what I was seeing, because, thanks to Jackie, I knew how gentle, precise and loving grooming is supposed to be. Jackie really is the best. I lost touch with her many years ago but I have no doubt in my mind she's still that dog loving, kind hearted quirky woman who took me under her wing when I was young and d*** and needed someone like her to help me. Something looking back I wasn't nearly as appreciative of as I should have been since she did so much for me and taught me so very much. You won't find a more caring, loving, good hearted, gentle, passionate groomer with her years and years of experience.

Been going to Grooming by Jackie for over 5 years every six weeks with my older dogs that have passed last year and now my new two adopted girls. Absolutely the best groomer & dog person, i would ever leave my precious girls with. I new after the first visit in 2010, why my vet in Morro Bay recommended Jackie to us. Fair prices, very accommodating, and most important to us, she is so gentle and loving to dogs. The only problem is sometimes you have to schedule an appointment a week or two in advance because she is full. But she has also accommodate us with coming in early or squeezing us in at the end of her day if possible. You definitely can't go wrong here.......

We recently moved to Los Osos and discovered Jackie next to Lemos Feed. We are thrilled with her services! I am especially impressed, as she noticed our dog has an ear infection and recommended two vets in town. She suggested we get him in soon, which we did, and he's on ear meds as I write. We also discovered our new vet in town, Dr. Knighton! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Jackie! Our dog looks handsome and is on the mend due to your attention to detail.

Paid $60 for a wash, dry and cut. Her hours are from 7am-2pm. I regretted taking my dog here as soon as I walked in. The place is cramped and loud. Jackie has an odd personality that is rude and doesn't give direction well. My dog came back completely shaved and I hate it . It's not even a good cut either! She has patches that are longer than others and it's inconsistent all over. Don't waste your money here and your dog will thank you! Jackie doesn't seem very caring to the dogs. More like its "down to business." My dog was shaking from fear and Jackie gave no consolation but just kept on working. They have a blow drier that is so loud the person operating it wears ear protection! But the dogs have to hear the noise and their ears are more sensitive than humans, but agin, Jackie seems oblivious to this. I regret going here and will never come back.

This was my first time going to Jackie. In the past our dogs have been groomed for the summer at the Green Groomer in Morro Bay; they always came back looking and smelling clean with attractive short hair cuts. Jackie's is closer to our house so my wife and I decided to give her a try and dropped our two shaggy, dirty dogs off for a much needed grooming. When I picked them up, just two hours later (speed, maybe that's what the one star I can't take away is for?), I noticed only one had gotten a hair cut. I asked why and received a stream of complaints: they both defecated, they were difficult, one was excessively nervous and shaky (she is a rescue dog and requires the care of someone good with animals), the other's hair was apparently too dirty or tangled to cut regardless of it having been washed already. Jackie had, however, managed to buzz the top of her head and back of her neck short before giving up. Perhaps she is used to grooming clean short haired dogs, a service I can't imagine the need for. I came away with the impression that she lacks the skills required to care for someone else's dog in a kind, patient, and professional manner, let alone cut its hair. I regret having left my two with her and will never be back.

She does such a great job with our dogs! I can never get them to behave for a nail trim and they are so good for Jackie! They always smell so good when they get home. It's a nice touch during the holidays when they come out of the "spa" with a little bling behind their ears! Thank you Jackie!
