Let me preface this by saying when we came and tried on the dress originally I had to order my size, but the dress that was in stores already was lopsided from the bottom. If I could give them 0 starts I would whole heartedly. My dress came in yesterday 11/19 and today 11/20 I came to pick it up. I got here and at first I though the dress was perfect... turns out the dress was ripped and a whole piece of material was missing. They stated that the dress would go to the tailor and it would be perfect also that it would only take an hour. 5 hours later when my dress is finally ready I go and try it back on only to find out that some of the dress was cut and that one side of the dress was higher than the other now. I had to wait on this dress for a month, and this dress was going to be the center of attention. I was heartbroken and the owner on the phone apparently said that the dress was $750 but that was only the start of his lies. The dress was $650. He said he'd offer us somewhere in between $65-100 off and then when it came down to it he said it'll be $50 off for the inconvenience. So now we have a liar on 2 accounts. I asked to speak to the owner and they tried to shove our money back in our face to get us out of the store before we can cause a problem for them. I told them no I want the dress. I am absolutely heartbroken by my experience at Modessa Couture. I suggest no one goes and spends their money on a dress only for it to not be how they expected it.

After trying many other stores on the same street, we came into this one last and found the perfect dress for my daughter's sweet 16. The sales woman was helpful unlike some of the other stores nearby.

Absolutely stunning dresses, beautiful store, extremely clean and well organized, and surprisingly not overwhelming considering the insane amount of dresses they had there. Everything was color coded and easy to maneuver. I came in looking for a formal short dress (tea length). The very helpful employee showed me what they had which wasn't really what I was looking for, but then I turned around and there it was, the dress I was envisioning, and wow, that dress was gorgeous!! The employee immediately took it to the dressing room, helped me zip it up and pinned it for me since it was a bit big. She took a picture of me, she showed me what it would look like a size smaller, and anyway, she worked for that sale and boy did she get it. They will be shipping the dress to me (which makes me a bit nervous considering the reviews I've seen about their shipping) but I have faith it'll get here on time. I can't wait to come back and shop for my brother's wedding. That's going to be an experience I'm definitely looking forward to.

After 20+ stores and 5 hours shopping at Santee Ally, my daughter finally break out a big satisfaction smile. The store manager Elizabeth was supper nice and service was fantastic. For the first time shoppers at downtown LA, bring cash. No tax with cash purchase and tailor only take cash.

Such a great boutique! I just bought my prom dress from here and I couldn't be happier! Not only do they have a wide selection of styles to choose from, whether you're looking for simple and elegant or bold and sparkly (and more), they provide excellent service as well. After a dress mishap (buying the same exact dress as my friend), Elizabeth was kind enough to let me exchange it for another. All the ladies who work here are very kind, patient, and helpful, especially Vicky who was extremely sweet and always checking in to see if any of the customers needed help putting on their dresses. Overall I'm super pleased and happy with my experience here at Modessa. I definitely recommend :)

I went today shopping for a dress for my niece quinceanera which fashion district has so many options that you can lose yourself there for hours. We went in the store around 11 am since it was next to our parking area. We looked had some okay dresses nothing I liked but my sister was intrigued by a dress on the "clearance rack" a young lady who was pleasant and helpful asked if we needed help my sister said she liked dress but wanted to look at other shops before buying and in the meantime the young lady can find her size,she said she will do her best and we will see her later. We went shopping and came back around 4pm my sister asked if she can speak to young lady who helped us and another was nice to get her. She got dress my sister picked and took her to dressing room to try on,I was sitting in wait area while she did that. As I sat there I overheard her snobby manager snap at employee why she was going out her way for my sister since her dress was "clearance rack" and there was other customers waiting for dressing room with quality dresses! I've never been so appalled by behavior like that especially coming from someone who looks like they came to country illegally. I've heard her speak and her English was bad and spoke spanish only. At this point my sister got upset and said never mind,she wanted to leave. I wanted to punch the b**** in her face. No customer service,compassion or professionalism. I hope the owners of this shop know she is not helping them make money but be lose profit. We will never return and I'm sure they dont care but the shop next to them got business of 3 woman who spent $500 in dresses. I know I'm not the only one has experienced this,she seems like it's a habit she has in being desperate for commission. BEWARE!! I gave 1 star for the girl who helped my sister she didnt deserve the embarrassment in front of the customers.

At first I didn't know what kind of prom dress I wanted but the ladies are very helpful. The dress was damaged but they paid for the tailoring which was nice that I didn't have to spend my money on something I didn't do. There prom dresses are beautiful and they have reasonable prices.

I had a wonderful experience purchasing a dress from here. Elizabeth was wonderfully attentive and found me just what I needed. My dress was absolutely beautiful and was told I came to the event to slay. Thankful I stumbled in this store.

Avoid purchasing a dress from this place at all cost. Bought a dress for a wedding and left there for alterations. Dress was supposed to be delivered within 10 days. They did not delivery until two months after, and didnt have a dress for the event it was purchased for. Went to the store to return the dress once it arrived and asked for a full refund as it was never used and was extremely late. The owner was very rude and denied my request. All in all lost money on the dress, had to buy a replacement and had the worst customer service experience ive ever had.

I don't even think this store deserves one star.These people are unreliable,knowing that they had promised i would recieve the dress purchased here in time for my event. I never recieved the dress and never got my money back and on top they lied saying they never said it would be ready before the date of my event. Horrible store don't buy here.
