A stretching area would help. And it’s time to bring the water fountains back right?

Been livin' here for more than a year, I always appreciate the convenient location to the nearby stores, restaurants, metro, and attractions in little tokyo and arts district. I wanna specially thank Jhonny for his great work in apartment management. He's the man gets problems solved! And Joel provides his best effort in every maintenance request!

This place and the management team were great. They were so warm and welcoming with reasonable rates. I highly recommend renting and being part of this great community.

Wonderful place with reasonable rent situated in a great part of LA. Management is also great as they keep residents upto date on facility management and try to incentives community involvement through the hosting of events in the building. With manager Jorge Orduno and staff member Johny being some of the standouts. They were incredibly kind and accommodating both with the initial move in process and move out. Jorge is also quick to respond to emails and help with any problems. Only knock is that the garage has a strange smell to it. Also note everything is carpeted if you are into it.

I'm enjoying my time at Hikari so far!The location is one of my favorite things about the apartment building; having many restaurants and shops in the area is fun and convenient. The new metro station will open soon, which is a plus! The building's staff and management are great; positive experience from touring to moving in. Jhonny Araujo was super helpful throughout our whole process.Something I wasn't expecting to appreciate because my previous building never did so is open communication. I receive emails from Hikari with news regarding anything that may affect the community, like maintenance, any policy changes, or road closures for any local event. The apartment is spacious and bright, with updated appliances, plus it's everything we were looking for and more. I recommend it to friends and anyone looking for a walkable area!

I would also like to commend the entire staff and maintenance team at Hikari apartments for their excellent service. They are helpful, courteous, and always ready to assist. However, I must say that my experience with Jhonny has been nothing short of exceptional. Jhonny has demonstrated a high level of professionalism, dedication, and commitment in his work. One thing that stands out about Jhonny is his willingness to go above and beyond to help the tenants. He is always ready to lend a helping hand and attend to issues in a timely manner. This has made my stay at Hikari apartments a pleasant one.He is always happy to provide helpful information and recommendations. He is patient and attentive, making sure that all my questions and concerns are addressed. Thanks for all your help!

Wonderful experience at the Hikari. Hiromi, Kenneth, Jhonny and team do their best to give all residents a warm welcome and do their best to help our community. Everyone on the service team is also so friendly. They are prompt to fix things like washer dryer issues, replace light bulbs and take our concerns very seriously.

Be careful with your security deposit guys cause they will scam you big time. They will give you unnecessary reasons of why it never got mailed or why it is taking long. For my case, I never got my security deposit check back cause they messed up the shipping information and never took responsibility for the issue they caused.

UPDATED 2022 REVIEW:As I prepare to move out after two years, I figured I'd leave an updated and honest review.Of course, there are issues here such as problematic or inconsiderate neighbors and issues that requires maintenance to repair. However these are out of the leasing agent's control and are normal inconveniences that you'll experience anywhere. My experience with the staff themselves have all been great. I've had nothing but great experiences with Julia, Kenneth, Roberto, and Jhonny. Each one of them have gone out of their way for my roommate and me during our stay and I really enjoy all of our conversations over the past two years.People complain about noise, construction, and homeless in the area and it's all true. But it's Downtown LA. Any of us that live here should expect this before even considering living in any of the apartments in the area. I feel like I must be the only native Angelino here because none of these things surprised me and they haven't impacted my enjoyment here in any negative way. After two years here, I STILL recommend anyone to move to Hikari. The convenience of the neighborhood have greatly contributed to me not relying on a car and that will greatly impact my requirements in future home/apartment hunting. If you move here, do yourself a favor and ditch your car. Just take in the city on foot or public transit and realize the greatest benefit of living here is the convenience.PREVIOUS 2021 REVIEW:I've been visiting Little Tokyo since I was basically a baby. Although I'm from the valley, I still feel like I've grown up here in a way. Fast forward to 2020 and I finally fulfilled a childhood dream of mine of living in this beautiful community. My leasing agent, Julia, immediately gave me the sense of communicating with a friend rather than someone just trying get me into a lease. She was very patient with me and my questions during the initial walk-through/application process and has continued to provide that same level of treatment to this day. After living in a few apartments across southern California over the years, this is the first time I felt someone working in the property genuinely wants to help and make the tenants a priority. All with a smile on her face! The building itself is great. Clean on move-in, tenants all seem to be respectful during the pandemic, and I can't beat living in the area for the price. Plus, washer/dryer IN unit? That's almost unheard of in LA!Would recommend and HAVE recommended this place to others!

Editing my review and decided to just be truthful here. The place gets 2 stars because the entire staff and maintenance are helpful and friendly and attend to issues in a timely manner. That is the only positive thing about this place. Otherwise, if you choose to move here for 2,800 a month- prepare to deal with GIANT sewer roaches crawling through your plumbing. Pest guy was sent out about 5 times and each time he basically said that they sneak in through water pipes and there's nothing they can do about it. Secondly, if you enjoy your fire alarm going off every time you cook, this is the place for you! At this point, I'm not even sure why they put a kitchen in here if we can't cook in it without the fire alarm blaring. Apartment wide fire alarms go off once a month, for no apparent reason.

Since I've lived here for almost a year now, I'll provide some feedback and maybe a little perspective for anyone looking to move. I'll start off by saying I've lived in almost a dozen different buildings since moving to LA in 2008, and all have had their pros and cons. No building is perfect. At the end of the day, there will be compromises and you have to ask yourself which are more important to you. 1. I've never had anything but positive experiences with any of the staff, either at the front desk or maintenance people in my apartment. Any requests I have are usually answered same day, or next day. I've had very minor fixes over the past year, mostly burnt out light bulbs or noisy washer. All were fixed promptly. Kenneth in particular is always friendly and accommodating, I think I emailed him 100 times before moving in lol and he was always gracious about it. 2. Location. This is a pro and con. The location is great for walking to little tokyo or arts district, it's right in the middle of both neighborhoods. I can walk to so many shops and restaurants. There's really so much to do all around you. You're also close to the freeways which makes travel more convenient. However, you are in a downtown area. Yes, skid row is a few blocks away. Educate yourself with the neighborhood before moving in. Yes, you occasionally see some homeless people around, same as anywhere in downtown LA. The neighborhood is pretty good about preventing camps in the surrounding blocks though. This just comes with the area. If you can't handle it, don't move here. I personally have never felt unsafe walking around as a female. 3. Amenities. The gym is small but functional, there are a lot of useful machines in there and I always get a good workout. Plus, half the time I have the gym to myself. The pool is nice, on the small side, and can run a little cold. It's great for the summertime though. I personally love the package locker system. I've dealt with stolen packages at my previous buildings, but mostly have had no issues here. It gives me peace of mind because I shop online a lot! Plus, you can buzz in delivery drivers so you don't have to go downstairs and let them in. 4. Parking. Yes, there's no guest parking. there are 2 parking lots directly adjacent to the building for guests to use. It's annoying, but plan accordingly if someone's staying overnight. It's downtown... you kind of have to deal with it. Also, yes sometimes P2 is a little smelly. It doesn't bother me, how long are people spending in the parking garage??? Sometimes the lobby does smell like Spitz next door.. which I don't mind because the food smells good? lol 5. Noise. I have no issues with noise from my neighbors. I face 2nd street and there is some street noise. Not enough to bother me though, honestly it becomes white noise after a while. Again, you're living in downtown. if you want peace and quiet, move to the suburbs. 6. Mask enforcement. Management has signs everywhere and has sent repeated emails to tenants reminding them to wear a mask. What more do you want? Them to hunt down people who aren't wearing them? There's not much more they can do.

My husband and I stayed here for a number of years. We finally moved out last month. For sure we stayed one year to long. This building is dirty, it literally stinks to high heaven in the parking garage. it's had to convey how bad the smell is because you cannot video tape or take a photo of it. They do not care about masking in the building. the neighborhood has become unsafe as well. We regularly have homeless lighting fires, behaving aggressively. The Hikari deserves less then one star.

Timely response. We didn't have to wait more than 24 hours to get help for our clogged tub. Great job!

Kenneth does an excellent job as a leasing consultant. Always willing and able to lend a helping hand. Becky is great at helping residents as well. I hope they stay at Hikari for a while.

had my eye on Hikari for months after I first decided to move from Bangladesh to LA for college. ever since I laid eyes on the studios, the neighbourhood and the community, i knew no other place would interest me. after really moving in, my experience so far has not disappointed. everything is perfect and better than how i imagined it to be! thanks to Kenneth for making the process and experience so much easier. He made sure, everything, starting from the application process to the move-in goes smoothly, considering the fact that I was literally applying from a different country all alone with all these foreign documentation, with no complains at all. THANK YOU.
