Horrible experience trying to cancel this Gold’s Gym membership. Our account were frozen. We requested cancellation at the gym (in person) in early July. They denied cancellation in person at the counter and made us go online to cancel, but told us to wait until August 1st to avoid August fees. We canceled online on August 1st and they tried to charge us on September 1st. We haven’t USED the gym since FEBRUARY and somehow charged 2 months after requesting cancellation. This place is a money thief and the customer service is terrible when it comes to such a simple task as canceling a membership at the members request! I’m sure Golds Gym needs my $100 way more than I do.

I'm moving away from SoCal and went to cancel my membership, and apparently you can't cancel your membership to this gym at this gym? You can put your account on hold. You can start a membership. But to cancel, you have to contact a random third party company. The person working the desk gives you a sheet of paper with instructions to cancel online, or over the phone. The website on the sheet of paper does not have an option anywhere on the site to cancel your membership. The phone number they give you is an automated system, with no option to talk to an agent, or cancel your membership. I called the gym and asked about this. They put me on hold and just never came back to the phone. A blatant run-around. Unethical, dishonest, run-around. I will not join a Gold's Gym ever again. This review would be 0 stars, if that was an option.

I inquired about a 7-day guest pass and haven't received a response for a week. It seems like they're not interested in new members. Thanks, but I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Crowded, bit of a casual gym so a lot of the other customers are less experienced or have much worse etiquette than other nicer gyms. Insane wait times for benches and racks, people doing an excess of 12+ sets on a single machine with two minutes rest, using machines incorrectly, leaving weights in odd places, not wiping machines or themselves if excessively sweaty. Not an awful gym, but absolutely not an easy gym to get a workout in.

Dirty. Now they’re restricting towels. I guess they want every surface covered in sweat. They’ve already removed paper towels and tissue from bathrooms. Paper towel dispensers on gym floor are empty half the time.
Karen is the only employee besides cleaning crew who helps clean. Employees mostly apathetic. Someone passed out last week and customers had to urge employees to do something to help. Most employees just stood there watching the guy on the ground. One employee said a customer trying to help could call 911 “if you want.”

0 stars if I could! Terrible customer service and unethical practices on how they go about authorization on your card. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND!! Save your money and go somewhere else! Oh and when you dispute the unethical charges, they will threaten with collections. A gym sending you to collections for chump change that they weren’t authorize to take is insane!! Also you can read other testimonies on Reddit and online. The whole corporation is trash!

I had just signed up for a free pass to try the gym but at the desk I was told that the trial pass is only valid for California citizens. Yet this specification is not indicated on the site.

UPDATE: My original review (below) was in April, 2024. Since then, they STILL have not provided me a trainer late on weekday mornings. Two trainers I had about two sessions each with have quit, and then trainer manager "Calving" either left or was fired. Manager "Davion" has been completely dismissive. The "District Manager" at one point called and said he was going to help, but never did, and "roams" different clubs and doesn't return messages. I'm now taking "other action" on the credit card change because over HALF of my 24-session package that I bought on April 1 still has not had a trainer assigned, and this is late August, 2024. AVOID!
Original Review: What a mess this place is. Signed up for training (24 sessions for $2200) and then tried to approach "Brendan Hayward" (who had very impressive videos online and thousands of IG followers) on THREE different occasions to even begin to inquire about becoming his client, but he was extremely rude, impatient, avoidant, dismissive, patronizing, and condescending each time, only to be seen leisurely talking to other members right after (maybe he just doesn't like older guys to be his clients?). The training manager, "Calvin", is very nice and tried to help get started, but the scheduling system for trainers is chaotic with him having to do it all and the schedule availability of any trainer is tentative and unclear. Complained to Hollywood club General Manager "Devion" and he couldn't be bothered at the time and didn't bother to follow up. Calvin tried to follow up (he's the one they ought to keep) but got stonewalled from "Brendan". Connected me with "Juriste" who is a decent trainer apparently but very new and green to the process; had one session with him then couldn't see him for another week. I'm stuck with this "24-pack" of training I haven't been able to really use, and maybe Juriste can salvage it eventually, but the experience with "Brendan" makes me want to leave the place for good and cancel the whole membership. Never had this much trouble at a gym, and I've been to plenty over the past 40 years of working out in LA. One ditzy queen punk can ruin the whole thing; maybe they will be more careful on their hiring the next time some hot-shot from New York who thinks he's all that comes along. All "flash" on that dismissive egomaniac, but the only "substance" was toxic. (Hey, does Under Armour make a HazMat suit? AVOID!)

Tried to cancel my membership a year ago. Just to be sure, I cancelled my credit card, too. Today, I found out that my cancellation didn’t work AND they’ve been charging my new credit card without my knowledge. That’s $720 that I’ve lit on fire.
Edit: it costs $60 to cancel my membership. How do I give less than one star?

1. Service is awful except for the front desk. These two sales managers forced me to buy this membership when I told them I’m not willing to do it today and came only for 1 day access to see the gym.
2. Too crowded

THEFT ALERT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone broke my lock off my locker and stole my purse at 10pm last night. By 8am I had people trying to open accounts in my name. This is an identity theft nightmare. These people are pros, and apparently they have memberships. Management will not return my calls or cooperate with police to provide security footage. Maybe they know the thieves.
DON'T USE THE LOCKERS, keep everything you value with you. Don't give these scumbags your bank account details.

I really enjoyed working out here and had wanted to continue coming to this gym after my travel, but they would not let me put my account on hold without charging another $59! For $59 only, they are willing to lose a customer! Gold's Gym has just made it clear how much it values members like me.
When I signed up, I was assured repeatedly by the rep that this is a month to month membership that I can put on hold and I can cancel anytime I wish without any penalty. The contract's fine print was never highlighted to me, and the sign up process rushed. I was pretty much pointed to the sales rep’s desktop where I have to put my signature in an e-document filled with the tiniest fonts. I was reassured that there are no hidden clauses. BIG MISTAKE! I found out today that I needed to give a whole 10 days before billing to put my membership on hold. Despite the fact that the new monthly cycle has not begun and I plan not to use it, I was told that I would be charged. Enraged, I asked for a cancellation and planned never to set foot in this dishonest and greedy joint, only to find out a 30 DAYS NOTICE is needed to cancel, and that I will still have to pay the $59. I was further threatened with a late fee if I do not pay up!
Much as I like coming here, I am cancelling, and I will not be bringing the friend I have been encouraging to join me. Gold's Gym ought to do away with such unethical tactics. It is equivalent to stealing. This is a very crowded and competitive marketplace. Such dishonest tactics completely damaged its brand name, and undermines all its efforts to maintain its facilities and court new members.

Be cautious. I regret not checking reviews before signing up. The facility is excessively crowded, unhygienic, and unsanitary, with long waits for equipment. The staff is unprofessional and indifferent. I would rate it zero if I could.
